SERVICE DESCRIPTION Description of the Mimecast Services

Service 1. Mimecast Secure Email Gateway Description


Provides functionality to secure Customers email, and controls to govern the delivery of email in accordance with Customers internal systems configuration. Its other services include virus scanning, denial of service prevention and rejection of unwanted messages which allows Customer to protect its on-premise email infrastructure from external email threats. Policybased routing, attachment and image controls, queue management, and reporting provide control of email flow. This service includes or facilitates: heuristic and reputation-based spam management; heuristic and signaturebased malware protection; attachment management; inappropriate image scanning; email routing policies; policy-based transport layer security (TLS) encryption for email delivery; directory synchronization tools; SMTP connections and rejections view; transmission logs for each transaction; graphs and statistics of email usage; administration change logs. Can be added to Mimecast Secure Email Gateway to deliver more sophisticated controls for managing email delivery. It adds capability to perform additional actions including stopping email delivery, holding an email for moderator review, tagging emails based on content and the ability to alter email retention. It also allows email disclaimers and branding to be appended to Customers email for various purposes including compliance or marketing. In addition, it includes an advanced set of email controls, including secure email messaging (CCM), Microsoft Word document metadata stripping and PDF conversion. This service includes or facilitates: email content inspection by keyword, regular expression or MD5 checksum; content-based message encryption; message blocking, moderation or group carbon copy; word document metadata stripping and PDF conversion; closed circuit messaging (CCM); email stationery management and disclaimer tools; email marketing tools; email image hosting; recipient click tracking capability; micro website creation and publishing. Combines the features of Mimecast Secure Email Gateway and Content Power Tools into a convenient package providing Customer with all of Mimecasts security tools in a single product. Enables email availability to Customer during an interruption of their email environment. When this occurs, Permitted Users can review, reply, and compose emails using this service directly. Additionally, Customer shall have access to 58 days of historic email. Permitted Users access this service via a web browser or from Microsoft Outlook. This service includes or facilitates: rerouting of email during outages; access to historic and new email and calendar data during outages; webmail access to email; automatic service failover and failback; remote and local authentication options; SMTP connections and rejections view; directory synchronization tools. Can be added to Mimecast Email Continuity or product which includes continuity functionality. This service allows Permitted Users, using a BlackBerry smartphone, to read, reply and compose emails when the BlackBerry infrastructure is unavailable. This service includes or facilitates: administrator invoked continuity events; read, compose and reply to messages in an outage; removal of continuity messages; download and view email attachments. Delivers long-term retention of email and can be used for, amongst other things, compliance, electronic discovery and mailbox management. This service has a default storage period of 10 years however retention policies can be extended. Searching of the archive provides a way for administrators to find email for review, recovery or export. Litigation management of the

archive provides an interface for the management of inquiries, applying litigation holds and exporting relevant emails from the archive. This service includes or facilitates: tamper proof, auditable and secure data archive; archive full text indexing; POP3 and SMTP journaling; archive search; saved searches; administrator archive permissions; audit log of administrator access and activity; policy-based data retention; electronic discovery case management; granular litigation hold capability; policy-based message tagging; retention adjustments and email purging.

7. Mimecast Archive Power Tools

Can be added to Mimecast Email Archive or products which include archive functions to improve functionality. This service enables mailbox management via message or attachment stubbing. Record retention is also available for Permitted Users to categorize and define the retention policies on individual messages. This service also provides metadata replication for display and audit purposes. This service includes or facilitates: Microsoft Exchange metadata synchronization; custom retention folders; Microsoft Exchange well known folder management; staged email deletion; full message stubbing; attachment stubbing. Combines Mimecast Email Security and Mimecast Email Continuity giving businesses a single solution for managing email. Additionally this service provides a limited email store by including 58 days of email history as part of Mimecast Email Continuity. Is a suite of Mimecast products designed for comprehensive email management. This service includes Mimecast Email Security, Mimecast Email Continuity and Mimecast Email Archive.
