Bible study 10/18/2011 1 Kings 8:1-21 1 Then King Solomon summoned into his presence at Jerusalem the elders

of Israel , all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark of the LORD s covenant from Zion, the City of David. 2 All the men of Israel came together to King Solomon at the time of the festival in the month of Ethanim, the seventh month. 3 When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the priests took up the ark, 4 and they brought up the ark of the LORD and the Tent of Meeting and all the sacred f urnishings in it. The priests and Levites carried them up, 5 and King Solomon an d the entire assembly of Israel that had gathered about him were before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and cattle that they could not be recorded or counted . 6 The priests then brought the ark of the LORD s covenant to its place in the inne r sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 7 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and ov ershadowed the ark and its carrying poles. 8 These poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 9 There was nothin g in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt. 10 When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the LORD. 11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the clo ud, for the glory of the LORD filled his temple. 12 Then Solomon said, The LORD has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 13 I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell foreve r. 14 While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them. 15 Then he said: Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his own hand has fulfilled wha t he promised with his own mouth to my father David. For he said, 16 Since the da y I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built for my Name to be there, but I have chosen Dav id to rule my people Israel. 17 My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD , the God of Israel. 18 But the LORD said to my father David, Because it was in y our heart to build a temple for my Name, you did well to have this in your heart . 19 Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, who is your own flesh and blood he is the one who will build the temple for my Name. 20 The LORD has kept the promise he made: I have succeeded David my father and no w I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 21 I have provided a place there for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with our fa thers when he brought them out of Egypt. While reading this the Holy Spirit revealed a few things to me and I wanted to s hare them. 1) We see a picture of a Father sending his son to build the temple. 2) We see the Sh'khi-nah the Glory of ADONAI filling the Holy Place after they o ffered their sacrifices and things were put in order. 3) We see a special place made for the covenant of ADONAI. 4) He mentions when you were brought out of Egypt, Egypt was a place of bondage.

We can see a bigger picture here being that we are in Yeshua (Jesus) let us unfo ld this. Yeshua refers to himself as the temple I will put the verse for you as reference . John 2:19~ http://bible.cc/john/2-19.htm (cross references are available at the link and bible commentaries about the verse.) The Sh'khi-nah of ADONAI, the Glory, the Light was within Yeshua (the temple, sa nctuary) Yeshua was the son of God sent to build the temple not made with human hands. His sacrifice of himself (rather then animals), His atonement, His cleansing blo od is what prepared the people to receive the covenant of ADONAI in a new specia l place a new ark which is the hearts and minds of men. Our Egypt our bondage was sin and death, Yeshua brought us out of Egypt and free d us from sin and death. Might I go on to say our wilderness is what we have been living in, our journey, our molding, shaping and conforming to HIS likeness. When Yeshua returns again we will all enter our promised land, our eternal dwelling with God. Lets check out these verses to bring together this spiritual temple: 2 Corinthians 5:1- Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human han ds. Ephesians 2:19-21- 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God s people and members of God s household, 20 built on the f oundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief c ornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to bec ome a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. 1 corinthians 3:10-17- 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be ca reful how he builds. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one alr eady laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for w hat it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire , and the fire will test the quality of each man s work. 14 If what he has built s urvives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. 16 Don t y ou know that you yourselves are God s temple and that God s Spirit lives in you? 17 If anyone destroys God s temple, God will destroy him; for God s temple is sacred, a nd you are that temple. Revelation 21:22-27- 22 I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty an d the Lamb are its temple. 23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb . 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring t heir glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gat es will never be closed; 26 and they will bring the glory and the honor of the n ations into it; 27 and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the L amb s book of life. There is no temple in the city (the new Jerusalem) Adonai and the Lamb are the t emple. So we right now are part of this temple shining the Sh'khi-nah (Glory) of GOD to the people. The lamp is the body we are the Body of Christ. I also feel like the Advesary (Satan, the Anti-christ) dwelling in a man's body (a temple) is the abomination that causes desolation. He will stand in the Holy Place (Jerusalem) and claim to be God. He will lead people astray. He mocks ever ything of God's... Well that sums up my Bible study I did today and what the Holy Spirit showed me. I hope that it has blessed you and I pray you are filled. May all Glory be give n to GOD for HE alone is worthy to be praised.
