Introduction Cutlery Institute of Pakistan (CIP) was established by EPB (now TDAP) in collaboration with Pakistan Cutlery and

Stainless Utensils Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCSUMEA) at a cost of Rs 35.90 million. It was inaugurated on 18th August 2001. CIP was established to provide skilled workforce and common facilities services to cutlery sector of Wazirabad. CIP provided training to 18 students from Wazirabad in Cutlery Manufacturing before it became non-operational in 2005. The Cutlery sector time and again demanded to revive CIP. In 2008, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) joined hands for the Revival of Cutlery Institute of Pakistan (CIP) Wazirabad. The main objectives of revival are to provide semi skilled technical and clerical workforce to the cutlery sector, Common Facilities, Designing and Prototyping services and Business Development/Technical Advisory services. Facilities All the building structures have been renovated. The old machines (except the heat treatment furnace) have been repaired and operationalized. Following new machinery has been procured to strengthen the training and CFC functions: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) CNC Wire cut machine. CNC Micro drill machine. Surface grinder Argon welding unit CO2 welding unit

CIP is presently offering following services to the Cutlery sector. 1) Training Programs Presently following training programs are being offered: i) Knife Assembly ii) Welding (Arc, Oxyacetylene, Argon and CO2)

Machining Cutlery Polishing Computerized Cutlery Designing Drawing & Drafting

Training programs to be offered in future: i) Tool, Die and Mold making ii) Cutlery ManufacturingPress Work iii) Cutlery ManufacturingKnife Grinding In addition CIP also offers short training programs for entrepreneurs like Accounting & Book keeping, Branding & Marketing, Quality Control, Inventory Control, etc. 2) CFC Services Following CFC services are currently being offered: i) Knives Grinding (Flat & Hollow). ii) Cutlery shearing and blanking operations. iii) Cutlery Polishing. CFC services to be offered in future i) ii) iii) iv) Argon welding for Cutlery Hollow ware Die and Mold making. Heat Treatment services. Cutlery Coining operations.

Project Cost Total project cost is Rs 39.84 million

Project Status Project is operational. It has provided training to 222 students (till 31st March 2010) in various trades. Moreover onsite technical/business advisory services to 44 cutlery units have been provided.
