In the age section, you said that Mark Twain said Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you dont mind, it doesnt matter. Actually Leroy Satchel Paige said that first like a decade earlier

Reply

J.M. October 18, 2010 at 7:28 am

The exact version included here is attributed to Mark Twain. It appears Paige has a very similar quote however function as opposed to issue. So well just have to consider that an addition to the list here in comments, as the exact version included appears to have been cited correctly.

Reply Dave Maleckar December 3, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Satchel Paige was 4 years old when Mark Twain died, so he probably didnt say a whole lot a decade before Twain did.

Reply Joseph February 3, 2011 at 3:46 am

Ill make sure I give him the credit instead as soon as I give a damn who said it first. lol

Reply Megan July 5, 2011 at 2:53 pm

For someone so adamant that they got it wrong, you might want to check out your source because unless Mr Paige was coming up with quotes concerning age, before he was born, he certainly didnt say it a decade before Mark Twain. Mark Twain died in 1910 Leroy Satchel Paige was born in 1906

so true. When I think of this I think of a kid tying their shoes or working on any other of lifes skills. You wouldnt believe how many different ways and attempts are made and even when we model the correct way they still make many mistakes for a while before it finally happens. (I also picture how adorable the kids look so concentrated thinking that wrapping one side of the lace around the other 10 times is gonna work. People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and thats what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person youll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave. A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master

Simply beautiful.

Here are some that i like to remind myself of;

In love, no one can harm anyone else; we are each of us responsible for our own feelings and cannot blame someone else for what we feel. It hurt when I lost each of the various men I fell in love with. Now, though, I am convinced that no one loses anyone, because no one owns anyone. That is the true experience of freedom: having the most important thing in the world without owning it.

We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own

pain and renunciation. Its one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but its another to think that yours is the only path.

When I had nothing to lose, I had everything. When I stopped being who I am, I found myself. The most important things are the hardest to say, because words diminish them.

It is said that the darkest hour of the night comes just before the dawn.

Nothing in the world is ever completely wrong. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Anyone who has lost something they thought was theirs forever finally comes to realize that nothing really belongs to them.

Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time.

A fall from the third floor hurts as much as a fall from the hundredth. If I have to fall, may it be from a high place.

Its the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary.

I dont live in either my past or my future. Im interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, youll be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment were living now.

He who excuses himself, accuses himself

Always respect me, for I am the shameful and the magnificent one.

One quote I liked is that from the movie American Beauty . In the end the dead protagonist says : its hard to stay mad when theres so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like Im seeing it all at once, and its too much. My heart fills up like a balloon thats about to burst

And then I remember to relax, and not try to hold on to it. And then it flows through me like rain. And I cant feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what Im talking about, Im sure. Dont worry you will someday.

That were like animals, theres war up there everywhere, its in the blood, its natural peace thats an accident, its what IS! when youre pushed killing is as easy as breating. You stop killing at one place its starts at another but its okay coz youre killing for your country. But it aint your country thats askin, its few guys on top who want it. Old men start it, young men fight it, nobody wins, everybody in the middle dies and nobody tells the truth, and Gods gonna make that all go away??!?! Fighting changes things not words!!! rambo 4 deleted scene

I really enjoyed reading your recommended quotes. Im also a writer as a hobby and write/post quotes.

GET TO KNOW YOU. It takes a lifetime to know your partner; but its not needed at the cost of losing yourself. Enlighten yourself with getting to know YOU. Your relationship with your SELF is the most significant, including GOD. Partners may come and go; but YOU are the only one, who you will never lose.

When you make someone a mark, you are actually making yourself a mark. So, when

you see a sucker, try and see if you have the will power to find your morals and stay away from the sugar. Relationships arent all about the sugar. Taking advantage of someone is a weakness; and anyone, who has ever been taken advantage of, knows how it feels.

I feel so ugly. Theres only so much we can do to change our body due to genetics; but you can still change your attitude. Nothing is wrong with your look. Its your attitude of blaming your body to avoid whats really bothering you. True change is internal & starts with you.

Why is it that when some men see a woman, who works hard to maintain, assumes shes doing it for THAT reason? The slight cues seem to key them into what they think they know about her. Off to assumptions & out the door they go!

If everyone is too busy picking up the crumbs from the table for themselves, then no one will see the big picture of a flawed model that puts a smarter individual on top of others, who are just as smart, but unwilling to lead. Intelligence & leadership come from a method of thought you apply. If you find the method to learning, then you can learn anything.

Youre AMAZING! Dont allow negative ppl to shake up your self worth by listening to their misinformed myths. Dont treat your body as an enemy. Our creation (body & spirit) is miraculous. Your measuring stick is based upon your character, not looks.

Reclaim yourself. APPRECIATE, be ATTENTIVE, & ACCEPT. Become an advocate of not being obsessed with looks. Dont take away from what makes you special in any shape as a woman or man.

MAKEUP & HAIRDOS WRAP US UP IN A FAKE IDEA OF BEAUTY. Theyre confidence boosters; but shouldnt be used to replace the image of who you are. Beauty & confidence are found in every type of shape & look, but are derived from our spirit. Nourish yourself from the inside & your appeal will shine out

Rach (guest) 8:03am September 18, 2011 My great grandparents had a frame with this written on the top. Then it had pairs of pictures of them as newborns, then children, then together as teenagers, then together in college, then as parents, then as an old couple, then theres one of them right before they died.
