God’s Blessing/God’s Plan

(Eph. 1:1-14)

God’s Blessing
From whom do blessings come? (Eph. 1:3, God the Father)

God’s first blessing upon mankind (Gen. 1:28, 5:2)


God blessed Noah and his sons (Gen. 9:1)
God blessed Abram/Abraham (Gen. 12:2, 22:17, 26:3, Heb. 6:13-15)
God blessed Sarai (Gen. 17:16)
God blessed Isaac (Gen. 26:24)
God blesses the righteous (Ps. 5:12)
Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah and the people whom He has chosen (Ps. 33:12)
God blesses those who fear and obey Him (Ps. 128:1-5)
All good things, all blessings, come from God Our Father (James 1:17:18)

What kind of blessings are believers promised? (Eph. 1:3, Spiritual blessings)

To be blessed is to be pronounced as holy (Eph. 1:4), to receive divine favor

Where are these spiritual blessings to be found? (Eph 1:3, 2:6, in Heaven)

Who is blessed by God? (Eph. 1:1, 4, 11, Those He has chosen)

Israel chosen by God, a special people (Deut. 7:6, 14:2, 1 Chron. 16:13, Ps. 135:4, Is. 41:8, as
servants, 43:10, as witnesses, 43:20-21, to glorify Him, 44:1)
Jesus chosen by God (Matt. 12:18)
Kingdom of God taken from Israel and give to a nation producing fruits, Many called few chosen
(Matt. 21:43, 22:1-14)
After much prayer to God, Jesus chose 12 Apostles (Luke 6:12-13, John 6:70, 15:16-19, Acts 1:2)
Paul made an apostle of Christ by the will of God? (Eph. 1:1, i.e. God chose Him, Acts 9:15, 22:14)
From the Greek, Apostolos, an Apostle is one “sent forth”
No one comes to Jesus unless drawn to Him by the Father (John 6:44 & 65)
Believers are chosen as “living stones” making up God’s spiritual house (1 Pe.2:4-6)
Believers are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of special possession (1 Pe.
2:9)
The chosen will be conquerors with Christ (Rev. 17:14)

When did God choose whom He would bless/save? (Eph. 1:4-5, 11-12, before the creation of the
world, he predestined/foreordained his own, Jer. 1: 4-5, Rom. 8:28-29, 2 Th. 2:13-14)

Why did he chose to save believers? (Eph. 1:5, out of love, 1 Pe. 2:9-10, to declare His glory)

How are believers blessed by God? (Eph. 1:3-8, 13) through hearing about and believing in the redeeming
sacrifice of Jesus Christ which is in accordance with God’s grace)

What is God’s Plan? (Eph. 1:9-10, to bring all things in Heaven and Earth under Jesus Christ)
