On the primary side: re1 = 4.517 , xe1 = 8.77 On the secondary side: rc2 = 101.5 , xc2 = 17.91 If the transformer is delivering the rated power to a load with a power factor of 0.75 lagging at the rated voltage of 230 V: a) Draw the equivalent circuit of the transformer referred to the secondary side giving the numerical values of referred parameters. If the motor is operating at a slip of 4% with the rated ac supply, determine the following using the approximate equivalent circuit of the motor.

A 240 V dc shunt motor has an armature resistance of 0.2 and shunt field winding resistance of 140 . The rotational loss of the motor is 500 W. When the loaded motor is supplied at 240 V, it draws an input power of 25 kW and runs at 1200 rpm. Question 5 [25 marks] A voltage of E=50V DC is applied to a resistor of unknown value. The total current drawn from the circuit is measured to be I=0.5A. The voltmeter across the resistor to measure the voltage has an internal resistance of Rm=10k . a) Find the power dissipated in the unknown resistor. [5 MARKS] b) Express power dissipated in the unknown resistor in terms of E, I and Rm. It is known that the voltage E has an error of 1.5%, I has 2%, and Rm has 3%. Calculate the error in the power dissipated in the unknown resistor. [10 MARKS] c) Calculate the uncertainty. [5 MARKS] d) Explain the difference between error and uncertainty. [5 MARKS]
