International Trachoma Initiative

Partnering with the WHO's Alliance for the Global Elimination of Blinding Trachoma by the year 2020 (GET2020) and the International Trachoma Initiative. To provide the Zithromaxneeded in the effort to eliminate blinding trachoma by 2020 and help preserve and restore the health and well-being of affected families worldwide. Pfizer has donated more than 225 million Zithromaxtreatments in 19 countries with plans to soon be active in many more. In 1998, Pfizer and the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation co-established the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI), an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of blinding trachoma.

To support the growth of promising cancer- and tobacco-control organizations united by the shared mission of accelerating the pace of progress in the fight against cancer. Targeted Area: Asia, Africa, Latin America, Middle East, Europe, the U.S., and Canada Pfizer's Commitment: In 2007, the Pfizer Foundation, together with the Pfizer country offices, committed $47 million over four years (2008-2011). Partners: 31 Global Health Partnerships grantees impacting more than 45 countries in seven critical cancer- and tobacco-control issues.

Infectious Diseases Institute in partnership with Accordia Global Health Foundation

Health systems throughout Africa are being challenged not only by the HIV pandemic but by tuberculosis, malaria and related infectious diseases. To build capacity of health systems in Africa to deliver sustainable, high-quality care and prevention of HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, and related infectious diseases through training, research and advanced clinical services. Support for a major medical training and research center headquartered within Uganda's Makerere University to improve health in Africa by training medical professionals and providing them with skills and resources to use their communities.

Diflucan Partnership

To provide treatment for AIDS-related fungal infections in developing countries where HIV/AIDS is endemic. To provide Diflucan (fluconazole) for the treatment of two fungal opportunistic infections associated with HIV and AIDS cryptococcal meningitis and esophageal candidiasis, free of charge to government and nongovernmental organizations in developing countries with greater than 1% HIV and AIDS prevalence. Direct Relief International (DRI), International Dispensary Association (IDA), Governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Developing countries with priority given to those with greater than 1% HIV and AIDS prevalence. The program is active in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America.

To complement existing HIV prevention efforts and help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS by supporting integrated approaches that bring together prevention, access to care and treatment. Mobile Home Care Team Pfizer has partnered with Cansupport to deliver palliative care and support to persons living with advanced cancer.Pfizer has funded a home care team to care for atleast 30 patients, at an annual cost of approximately Rs.13 lakhs. Cansupport is a Delhi based non-profit society that provides palliative care, free of cost, to people with advanced cancer. Mother and Child Healthcare Program Partner : The Arpana Research & Charities Trust Pfizer has been supporting the Arpana Research & Charities Trust, in rural Haryana, since June 2002, for a three-year term, with the objective of conducting an effective Mother and Child Primary Health Care initiative to reduce anaemia in pregnant women and adolescent girls. The project covers 35 villages in and around Karnal district, Haryana, and a population of approximately 60,000 persons.

Naee Nigah Program In association with HelpAge India, Pfizer created awareness of the cataract problem, conducted 7,500 free Intra-Ocular Implant surgeries and provided most operative care in 10 states across India. Rebuilding Hope in Bhuj Pfizer has supported the restoration of the health of earthquake affected persons through building a multipurpose hospital in Bhuj, Gujarat.
