(Roads, Bridges, Railways, Tunnels) so that students can use this knowledge in: a) Collection of data. b) Preparing working drawings c) Estimation & tender document preparation d) Plan, execute, supervise & maintain the system. Understand the types of bridges & their components parts & their maintenance. 4. Understand the component parts of railway & its geometric design. 5. Understand the construction of tunnels. ROAD ENGINEERING ROAD MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION Materials- soil, aggregate, cement and bitumen General terms- borrow pit, spoil bank, lead and lift, balancing of earthwork. Setting out construction limits, clearing, stripping & storing top soil, placing of embankment, rolling and finishing as per IRC 36-1970. Detailed construction procedure for W.B.M. road, earthen,
