INTRODUCTION
Our project ASAP Linux Administration aims at providing an interactive, dynamic, secure and user friendly environment with the aim of reducing workload on the part of the users & the administrator in the contemporary companies and at the same time maintaining the security at all levels. ASAP Linux Administration is an efficient network system for establishing and monitoring the administration of the companies, designed and automated using shell scripting (software) and server/client machine (hardware). Dedicated interfaces possibly according to the roles of the employees in todays companies have been created which makes this administration completely secure.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
IA-32 systems (i.e., a 32-bit Intel- or AMD-based system) or Opteron 64-bit systems (x86_64). A minimum of 256 MB of memory A minimum disk size of above 10 GB, and a minimum root partition ("/") size of about 5 GB. A cross cable wire to connect 2 systems.

WHY CHOOSE THE LINUX PLATFORM?

Today's IT infrastructures are multi-vendor and multi-platform. When you select software for your datacenter, you must consider how well it will operate in that heterogeneous environment. Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is an enterprise platform well-suited for a broad range of applications across the IT infrastructure. Created with a truly open process, Red Hat Enterprise Linux is an open platform that gives you flexibility, choice, and access to a broad range of innovations to help you control your costs and future. Corporations and agencies that standardize on Red Hat Enterprise Linux are free to focus on building their businesses, knowing they have a platform that delivers more of what they need. There are numerous advantages of developing system using RHEL over other platforms some of which have been listed as under:

Open Source: Many of the Linux variants and many Linux programs are absolutely free and enable users to customize or modify the code however they wish to. Reliability: The majority of Linux variants and versions are notoriously reliable and stable and can often run for months and years without the need to be rebooted. Security and Malware Protection: Linux is and has always been a very secure operating system. It provides a virus free platform which is a unique feature in itself and is non-existent in other platforms.

SALIENT FEATURES
Application Hosting A dedicated machine in the network provides various application supports to users by maintaining a large repository of installation packages. Machines connected to this machine can download and install numerous applications on their respective systems. This task is established by making use of the YUM (Yellow Dog Updater Modified) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) utilities.

Website Hosting Various websites can be hosted within the network using Apache & DNS (Domain Name System) Server collectively. Apache holds the capability of hosting around 900 websites simultaneously.

Mail Service Users can communicate within the network through mail service using the Mail Server System. A user friendly service called Squirrel Mail is used to establish the above task. The 4 most popular protocols viz. IMAP, IMAPS, POP3 and POP3S are supported in our network.

Data Backup Service For providing the data security, our network is synchronized with a backup disk which is implemented using RAID Level 5. This backup service automatically backs up the data.

Cross Platform Integration It may be the case that all the systems in a company dont run on the same platform. In such a case cross platform access becomes inevitable. For this purpose, our network incorporates Samba Server.

FUTURE SCOPE
As far as the future prospects are concerned, our project can be used in various companies, organizations and institutes catering their varied needs: It can continue to be an "open source" no-charge-for-using any Linux system. It can keep up with advances in HTTP protocol and web developments in general. It can be used in every network and by every device and application for virtually everything that is done on the Internet. That makes it a good place to enable new kinds of services. It can be used to aggregate Web threat data (identified spam hosts, phishing sites and other kinds of malware) and make it available at various kinds of enforcement points in the network such as mail gateways or firewalls.
