Human Rights Alert

11-11-14 The limits of Free Speech on the web - information pertaining to corruption of the US justice system
Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Assembly, the Right to Access Court Records, and the Right to File Petitions are all under attack...

Los Angeles, November 14 - "I have been posting reports about corruption of the US justice system on the UK-based LiveLeak.com site for some two years, and I've never seen anything like this," says Joseph Zernik, PhD, of Human Rights Alert . Dr Zernik has well over half a million readers on that site alone. He selected the UK-based site, since it became apparent awhile ago that most US-based sites would not publish such reports. On November 13, 2011, he posted two stories, both related to conditions of the criminal justice system in the United States: 1) "What goes on there is more like gulags of centuries ago" - pertaining to conditions in Monroe County, Tennessee, (copied below) based on an authentic ACLU report, and 2) Glynn County, Georgia: Kids for cash redux? - pertaining to conditions in Glynn County, Georgia, , (copied below), based on an authentic court filing., Both items provided links to the records that substantiated the stories. Both items were first approved, then rejected; in the first case, after almost 200 reads in its first couple of hours. The current civil unrest in the United States is increasingly marked by restriction of Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Assembly, not only in the United States, but in other "western democracies" as well. [i,ii] And given the blackout by western media of the relevant

news, Freedom of Speech on the web has increasingly become the focus of the struggle. In what is a sign of the times, Russia Today has become a central source for news and authentic video reports regarding the civil unrest in the United States. The Russia Today reports are also increasingly censored on the web by Google, in response to requests by US agencies. [iii] "Suppression/ of the fundamental First Amendment rights highlights the ongoing constitutional crisis in the United States," concludes Dr Zernik, [iii, iv, v] "Establishing reliable free speech networks must be one of the highest priorities today". Lt. Commander Walter Fitzpatrick, III, and Monroe County Sheriff Bill Bivens

Lt Commander Walter Fitzpatrick, III, tried to expose government corruption in Monroe County, Tennessee. According to ACLU he is now imprisoned under conditions that are cruel and unusual and "what goes on there is more like gulags of centuries ago"... [1,2] His plight is becoming the routine treatment of whistleblowers in the United States. The case of Lt Commander Fitzpatrick is eerily reminiscent of the treatment of former US prosecutor Richard Fine in Los Angeles County, California. [3]

Glynn County, Georgia: Kids for Cash redux? With 5% of the world population, the US today holds 25% of the world's prisoners population. Conditions of the criminal justice system in the US amount to the establishment of a gulag.

Judge Amanda Williams and Glynn County (Georgia) Courthouse

Los Angeles, November 13 - Notice of Formal Proceedings was filed on November 9, 2011, against Superior Court Judge Amanda F. Williams, Chief Judge of the Brunswick [Georgia] Judicial Circuit in the Georgia's Judicial Qualifications Commission. [1,2] Most counts pertain to violations of the Human Rights of juveniles in drug courts:
COUNT ONE ... you ordered defendant Dills into indefinite restrictive custody, without affording her the right to be heard. ... you issued a restrictive order that denied Dills the right to consult with her lawyer. ... you ordered Dills to be incarcerated indefinitely... ... However,on or about October 8, 2008, after Dills was taken into custody and transported to jail, you sua sponte modified her 28-day sentence to a period of confinement "indefinitely" in the Glynn County Jail and" until further order of the court... [The juvenile eventually attempted suicide - jz] COUNT TWO ...your practice of holding drug court participants indefinitely, without a hearing, and instituting a policy delaying their placement into treatment. ...sanctioned drug court participant Charlie McCullough for exercising his right to contest the results of a drugs creen. ... ordering Alisa Branch to be confined to a treatment facility on total restriction. COUNT THREE ...engaged in ex parte communications about substantive legal matters. COUNT FOUR ...your order requiring payment to your daughter, under penalty of contempt, COUNT FIVE ...publicly endorsed Jackie Johnson for the office of district attorney in April of 2009. COUNT SIX You asserted on multiple occasions that the "district attorney is the gatekeeper "for the drug court program, and you have denied any influence over the decision of the prosecute or to admit any one into the drug court program. COUNT SEVEN ...you failed to disqualify yourself in a case involving your bailiff's son... ... COUNT NINE ...or about 2010 group of juvenile probationers appeared in the Camden County Drug Court to observe drug court proceedings. ... One of the participants chuckled during court, at which time you began screaming at her and ordered your bailiff to remove the juvenile, who was crying, from the courtroom in handcuffs. ...

The case is eerily reminiscent of:

Kids for Cash scandal in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, where judges were convicted on racketeering charges, for falsely imprisoning thousands of juveniles after receiving millions in bribes from juvenile prison owners. Release of the victims is still in progress. [3] Rampart scandal in Los Angeles County, California, where judges falsely convicted, falsely sentenced thousands of victims, many of them juveniles. The victims, the Rampart FIPs (Falsely Imprisoned Persons), by and large have never been freed. [4]

With 5% of the world population, the US today holds 25% of the world's prisoners population. [5] With the establishment of a network of CMUs (Communications Management Units) over the past decade, and widespread practice of long-term solitary confinement, conditions of the criminal justice system in the US amount to the establishment of a gulag. [6,7] Attempts to initiate investigation of the US criminal justice system have been recently blocked in the US Congress, after strong objections by judges. [8]
