In an effort to increase the shelf life, the cake house spent a large amount of money on a new packaging technique. a. Using a random sample of 120 newly-packed Chococake, it is found that the mean shelf life is 149 hours. Can the cake house manager conclude that the new packaging technique is efficient at 1.5% significance level? b. Based on the result in a), what type of error could possibly occur? Explain the effect of this error to the cake house.

2. The average credit card debt for a recent year was RM 9,505. Five years earlier the average credit card debt was RM 6,718. Assume sample sizes of 25 were used and the population standard deviations of both samples were RM 1838. At 5% significance level, is there enough evidence to believe that the average credit card debt has increased at most RM 1,800?

3. Ultrasound is often used in the treatment of soft tissue injuries. In an experiment to investigate the effect of an ultrasound and stretch therapy on knee extension, range of motion was measured both before and after treatment for a sample of physical therapy patients. The data is shown in the following table. Is there enough evidence to conclude that the ultrasound and stretch treatment increases the range of motion at 1% significance level? Suppose these mean salaries are based on random sample of 35 full-time degree A graduates and 27 of degree B graduates and with the respective sample standard deviation of RM1,200 and RM2,400. Test the claim that there is no difference in the mean annual salary of degree A graduates and degree B graduates at the 5% significance level.
