Approaches to Teaching

The education around the world has changed in different ways. Now in day teachers use many methods for creating a better communication in students. We can define method as a systematic presentation of the language based on a selected approach. However the methodology in this century is orthodoxy, which means that the traditional methods used in the past century are considered for some experts bored and traditional for resolving the students needs, for example a lot of teachers teach according with textbook, that will be a little bit tedious for some students for this reason, it is important to have a proper methodology as well as, to modernize each methods used in the past. According with the handout the notion of teaching methods has had a long history in language teaching, as is witnessed by the rise and fall of variety of methods, for example the audiolingualism, became the orthodox teaching methods of the 1970s in many part of the world. It is for this reason that we have to be careful when we use teaching methods. Following the information the methods are an obsession, principles and advantages are presented. During many years some teacher based their teaching process in a traditional way, it is important for teachers to create a fun and interesting class to focus fully on the teaching process. During the history of education, teachers have based on methods and teaching materials leaving out the students needs, what they really want. However methods and materials have provided an important tool for teachers because, it allowed having a backup when they are teaching an English language. The materials are everything that teachers apply to teach, could be images, videos, dictionaries, exercises and so on. These materials permit students to be connected with the English language, as well as influencing the student in a positive way. Together the materials have a connection with materials adaptation is the methods or strategies that teachers will apply to their students for having a good class, some of these strategies are: reduction, extension, rewriting and so on. The majority of teachers who base their activities in a method, do not change the format presented in the method, this technique is not all bad, while the teacher uses their own methodology for making different or better the activity. Personally, I think the excessive use of the same methodology can have positive and negative consequences for the students and the teacher for example; teachers may lack proper methodology because they base their activities according with other teachers, for the student a class based on pedagogy of another person can be boring and a little bit

absurd. We who are studying to be future teachers must take into account the real needs of our students, not taking into account our needs avoiding boring and tedious class for our students. The methods should be taken as necessary for guiding our student, for having a better teaching process, but not something excessive. Besides, teachers have had the need to use other teaching methods that improve the compressibility of our students as principal need, we have adapted methods for encourage students to learn English; all teachers must select the resources and materials that planning to use. Some educators believe that does not matter the material or resources that they choose because for them the most important thing is to teach the class but, they are wrong, it is important to choose appropriate resources and materials because they are fundamental tools for developing and enriching the teachinglearning process of the students . As well as teaching materials have changed mainly as a result of the emergence of new technologies. Today teachers have many resources at its disposal to ensure better students for example we can include personal resources, a authentic activity remembering students needs, it is also important to take into account some

characteristics that materials should have for example: size, the impact will cause to the student, such as curiosity and interest , something very important to take into account is the multiple intelligences, for instance there are children who love to jump but, others like painting or learn using their own creativity. Besides now we have technology material resources for example printer, audiovisual or computer as well as have the newspaper is a traditional an important material resource, I think is a wonderful learning resource because, to show the reality of the world, every day we have problems for facing. With them, we focus on audiovisual resources; they at the same time have been evolving throughout history. Today it is easy to see DVD player in almost all schools, videos and movies tapes are almost obsolete and very difficult to find, music tapes have become a music CD. Also is important to mention the movies, its very important educational resource for us, we do not forget that many of our students learn many things through the television. Technology has helped the teachers to use other methods for instance the video beam is an important tool today used regularly, because is very easy to project to the students, pictures, diagrams or summaries of what we want to explain. However, the methods have principles that try to improve students for example, involving the control into the automatic process thinking about its forms on rules of language. The interaction between ones approach and the classroom practice is the key to dynamic teaching. The beast teachers are able to take calculated risk in classroom: as new student

needs are perceived, innovative pedagogical techniques are attempted. At the same time second language learners tend to go through a systematic developmental process as they progress to full competence in the target language. Giving those communicative competences are the goal of a language classroom, instructions needs to point toward all of its components: organizational, strategic and psychomotoric. Communicative goals are best archived by giving due attention to language use and not just usage, to fluency and not just accuracy, to authentic language and contexts, and to students eventual needs to apply classroom learning. An approach to language pedagogy is not just a set of static principles. It is, in fact, a dynamic composite of energies within a teacher that changes. The advantages based on methods are amazing when the teachers use very well, usually the teacher apply different methods during their classes, that is an excellent way to reach the students development for instances, the communicative language learning is a method useful in the schools and high schools because, making that the students works together, equally encourage their confidence. I think that we have many advantages using learning methods, but it is very important to modernize those methods at the same time use our own methodology for improving to the students. Other advantage in using a method is that motivate teachers to engage in a careful process and to follow a rule for having the control of the class, according with some researchers the methods that the teachers use are very helpful for the learning and teaching process. Equally important is to help students to be independents is a good method can help them for being in the way. I believe a good method with a excellent pedagogy can be a professor very successful. As a personal conclusion of this information, I consider that an approaches are very important to help students but at the same time we must to be careful for avoiding fall into the orthodoxy way. Now in day we have many resources for help students to have a excellent experiences in classes. This essay enriches me in my process as it shows me the reality of the situation in schools related to the use of methods. It is very important for me to identify the need of the students because, this will be a key to teach English language, as a moral for me, a creative class is synonymous of a successful class for the students, and motivates them to learn the English language. The information left to me positive thoughts and knowledge about, the importance of being a creative person in class, because this is a way to improve the teaching-learning process in our students.
