November: The Month of Remembrance


The month of November is dedicated to commemorating our loved ones who have died in the Lord. The shrine of St. Joseph in our church will be suitably decorated for the month of November. The Book of the Dead will be available to receive the names of our dearly departed. All Souls Day envelopes will be available throughout the month of November for those who wish to have their loved ones remembered at the Eucharist.

Annual CWL Daylight Retreat


Sunday, December 4th CWL members are invited to join us for our annual retreat. There will be a catered luncheon following the 12:30 pm Mass. The guest speaker this year will be Fr. Gerry Scott. Christmas Help: Adopt a Family


Once again we are asking parishioners if they would like to provide a family in need with gifts at Christmas. As was the case last year, we are asking on behalf of a fellow Etobicoke parish and needy neighbours elsewhere in the city who have requested assistance from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Bereavement Retreat
November 18th - 20th - At St. Marys Refuge Our Bereavement Retreat seeks to help you to work through your grief in the beautiful setting of the Refuge. Music Notes
November 22nd at 7:30 pm General parish information meeting regarding the upcoming Pilgrimage to Rome. (January 28th - February 4th, 2013) The OLS choir has been invited to sing at the Vatican again. This is a wonderful opportunity for the parish to embark on a pilgrimage to Rome. Choir and Pilgrims will attend/participate in Mass at St. Peters Basilica, a Papal Vespers presided by Pope Benedict XVI, a concert at St. Ignatius, and a Mass at St. Francis of Assisi in Assisi - all during the yearly Candlemas Festival. The choir will be made up of existing choir members, friends and interested adults who are able to sing. All may come as pilgrims. November 26th at O.L.S. from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm Annual Out of the Cold Concert featuring the choirs of the Kingsway, including our Senior Choir. November 27th at 4:30 pm Advent Sung Vespers with the OLS Chorale and St. Michaels Choir School alumni choir. O.L.S. Bible Study


The morning session of the Bible study will take place in the parish meeting room from 10 am to 12 noon each Thursday beginning Nov. 17th. Evening Sessions: The first meeting will take place in the parish meeting room on Monday, Nov. 14th from 7-9 pm. All other evening meetings will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows School, Room #204 from 7-9 pm each Thursday beginning Nov. 24th. The resource book, Conversations with Scripture: The Gospel of Mark by Marcus. J. Borg, will be available for $20. Please bring your Bible and highlighter.

John Michael Talbot Concert


Catholic youth Studio presents John Michael Talbot live in concert on Sun., Nov. 20th at 6:00 pm, at the John Paul II Cultural Ctr. (4300 Cawthra Rd). This gala concert will end the 22nd annual International Festival of Religious Song.
