The graph shows the amount of CFC emissions over a twelve-year period from 1989 to 2001 in four
countries, Egypt, Poland, Ukraine and Malaysia. It can be seen that CFC gases have a downward trend in all
In 1989, Poland has the highest CFC emission in four countries, which was about 5000 metric tons (MT)
while it was approximately 4600 MT in Ukraine, 3200 MT in Malaysia and 2300 MT in Egypt. After that,
there was a steep decrease of CFC gases from 1989 to 1995 in two countries, Poland and Ukraine, which
decreased dramatically to a low point of 900 MT in Ukraine and 1800 MT in Poland. Since then CFC
emissions has staged a partial recovery and stopped at just about 1150 MT in Ukraine in 2001 whereas it
continued to plunge down to 400 MT in 1998 and got a low of 200 MT in 2001 in Poland.
It was far different from the sharp downwards trend in both Ukraine and Poland, there was a slight decline in
the last two countries, Egypt and Malaysia. The amount of gases leveled off over the first six years from
1989 to 1995 in Malaysia and then dropped slowly during the next six years, a low point of 2000 MT in
2001. Similarly, CFC emissions also fell steadily over a twelve-year period in Egypt, which was 2300 MT in
