More than a name

More than a title
A statement of promise
That is undeniable

From creator
To restorer
From provider
To ever present one

He revealed Himself
Over time
He revealed Himself
To those needing a sign

As Elohim
He declared himself to be
Creator, absolute ruler
Source of all things
The one who made the universe
And all we can see

As El-Shaddai
He is the highest
All powerful
Almighty one
The Mighty Promiser
And Giver of gifts
Who provided Abraham and Sarah
The son the flesh
Could not provide

As Jehovah-Jireh
The one who provides
Who meets a believer's
Every need
The one who provided Abraham
With the sheep to replace Isaac
And sent forth Jesus
As the ultimate sacrifice

As Yaweh
He declares himself as LORD
His word is final
His covenant forever standing
He is the ever existent one
The I Am of the burning bush
The one who commissioned Moses
To set the captives free
 As Jehovah-Rapha
He is our healer
The one who heals the body
And restores the spirit and soul
The one who makes
The bitter waters sweet
The one who keeps
Pestilence from our door

As Jehovah-Nissi
He protects us with
His covering
Of everlasting love
As we acknowledge Him
And lift Him high
The victory will be ours
No matter the odds
As it was Joshua and Israelite army
As they fought the Amalekites
Whilst Moses did the rod of Elohim
Hold high

As Jehovah M'Kaddesh
He is the one who sanctifies
And makes us holy
The one who Isaiah
Refers to as the LORD of hosts
Who asked of him
Whom shall I send
The one to whom even the seraphim
Cover their eyes
So not as to desecrate
His holiness
With their gaze

As Jehovah-Shalom
He is only one who
Can make us whole
He is our peace
Our assurance
The one to whom Gideon
Built an altar
In confident anticipation
Of victory and peace
 As Jehovah-Tsid-Kenu
He is our righteousness
The one who makes it possible
To stand by His side
The one who states
We are to deal with each other justly
The one who lays down
The principals of prosperity
Jeremiah declared Him to be
A righteous Branch
And a King who is to appear
We know Him as
Faithful and True
Who will come riding a horse
To judge and make war
He is none other
The Word of God himself

As Jehovah- Raah
He is our shepherd
The one who laid His life
Down for us
The one who directs our paths
And shows us the way to go
The one who leads us
By still waters
Comforts us with His rod and staff
And prepares a banquet for us
In the presence of our enemies

As Jehovah-Shammah
He is the one closer
Than the air we breathe
The one who promises
Us will never leave
The one spoken of by Ezekiel
The place of His throne
The place of the soles of His feet
Where He will dwell
With His people forever
Is His presence
That we His people
As His Holy temples
Daily contain

While they may sound strange

The declaration
They make
Stands to this day

For we serve one

Who never does change
 We serve one
Who is faithful always

And when with faith we reach out

And His promises we claim
We know He will always honour
The power of His name

So let us not be slack

And ignorant remain
Everything we need
Can be ours
If we draw upon
The true revelation
Of the one God
Who is more than a name
