Team Charter Assignment With the Action Project, you have a wonderful opportunity to experience how a successful cross-cultural

team operates and to learn from it. We have talked about the fact that a good team understands the balance between task and relationship behaviors and what that looks like in a team environment. Research shows that business teams that have a clear and commonly accepted charter perform better than those who dont take the time to discuss team formation issues. Your task is to complete a team charter. The charter is a contract between members of your team, is created collaboratively and agreed upon by everyone. The charter can (and should) be amended as needed, and always constitutes the basis for determining team members contributions and behavior. As such, it will help you to complete the peer evaluation at the end of the course. A good charter creates standards and accountability that can ensure the success of the team, provided the charter is regularly enforced. To create the team charter: 1. Each team member should independently complete the short personal worksheet (see below - not to hand in but for discussion purposes only). 2. Meet as a team and share information from your personal worksheets so you better understand the talents, goals and expectations of all the members. 3. Work together to build the charter including, at a minimum, the items in the Charter section below. 4. All team members should formally indicate acceptance and agreement with the terms of the charter. 5. Have one person from the team on behalf of all the team members submit the charter document via turnitin by the assigned due date. Please title the file, Team (number) Charter How you do on this charter, the process of developing it and living out is values, will be factored in to your team portion of your grade. There is no right or wrong but be willing to commit to what you write, and remember that a charter creates norms and influences behaviors. Think through what you are agreeing to, the impact it will have on performance, and your willingness to enforce it.
