Résumé
L’avènement du collage et l’amélioration des propriétés mécaniques des matériaux
esthétiques (céramique et composite) permettent de placer des restaurations dont
les préparations diffèrent fondamentalement de celles pour incrustations métal-
liques coulées. Elles répondent au principe d’économie tissulaire et prévoient
d’une manière générale d’arrondir toutes les crêtes vives et les angles internes.
Dans un même but d’amortissement des contraintes, les limites externes des pré-
parations doivent être nettes, en forme de congé et les zones proximales doivent
être à distance des dents contiguës. Le recours au recouvrement est également
préconisé lorsque l’épaisseur des parois résiduelles est inférieure à 2 mm au
niveau cervical, en particulier pour les cuspides linguales mandibulaires anato-
miquement fragiles.

Applications cliniques
Après avoir présenté les différents paramètres biomécaniques qui influent sur l’anatomie des préparations, nous
allons mettre en application certains principes au travers différentes situations cliniques. Certaines causes d’erreurs
fréquentes seront enfin présentées.
