rd Kaligandaki River Rafting Festival

The 3rd Kaligandaki River Rafting Festival began Irom 6th November, 2011. The Iestival got
underway at Ramdi, eight raIts carrying eight teams were Ilagged oII on their raIting journey
along the Kaligandaki River to Andhighat located in Kuwakot VDC. Organizers expressed
their hope that the Iestival will help boost tourism on in Palpa, Syangja, Tanahu and Nawalparasi
districts, which lie on the banks oI Kaligandaki.
Kali Gandaki is a sacred river named aIter Kali, a Hindu goddess. Starting Irom Mustang glacier,
this beckoning river Ilows down to Muktinath between Dhaulagiri & Annapurna Mountains. It
has Nepal`s most challenging river runs making it the largest untapped whitewater potential in
the world. There are many cremation sites and burial mounds on its river bank.
Kali Gandaki Expedition is a sheer delightIul invitation to all raIters Irom novice to the most
intrepid oI adventurers. This raIting trip begins Irom put-in site at Nayapul and concludes at
Ramdighat with a drive Irom Pokhara to Kathmandu or a Ilight Irom Pokhara to Kathmandu. The
river trip takes us to steep canyon overhung with verdant Ioliage and punctuated by small
waterIalls and sidestreams in counterpoint to rapids providing class III to IV runs. As we
descend through verdant rainIorests, we witness unique wildliIe, amazing ethno-cultural
heritages, Iascinating village settlements and picturesque landscape. In a nutshell, this river trip
not only quenches our thirst Ior adventure but also bonds us with nature and equally makes us
culture-sensitive.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1 Flight Irom Kathmandu to Pokhara
We board a Ilight Irom Kathmandu to Pokhara. During the Ilight, we can savor the most
outstanding views oI majestic Himalayan peaks. AIter arriving in Pokhara, we are escorted to our
hotel.
Day 2 Drive to Nayapul & Overnight camping at river side
AIter intaking delicious breakIast, we take an early morning 3 hours drive to Nayapul.
Completely outIitted with apt raIting equipments and internalizing a thorough saIety brieIing, we
begin our raIting journey Irom Nayapul. As we maneuver along the deepest gorge oI the world,
we navigate with our proIessional river guide a bumpy section oI Class III rapids amidst a
natural showcase oI deep-wooded canyons, warm waters, sparkling side creeks and spectacular
glimpses oI wildliIe. As we approach Modi Dovan, we rest the trip to a halt Ior camping. We
embrace the most pleasurable moments while camping under an open sky oI sparkling stars with
a camp Iire lulls us to sleep as we dream oI the second day on the Gorge section.
Day 3 RaIt up to Mirmighat
The trip Iurther proceeds towards Mirmighat. Paddling along the majestic waves and rapids, we
raIt past surreal vistas oI snow-capped peaks, lush Iorests, unique bird liIe and exotic animal
species. Finally, the trip ends with our arrangement Ior overnight camping by the riverside.
Day 4 RaIt up to Ramdighat & drive oI Ilight Irom Pokhara to Kathmandu
On this day, we resume our raIting journey along the challenging and demanding river. Basking
in the grandeur oI nature, we cross boulder-strewn whitewaters Iollowed by calm pools,
interspersed with Irothing pulse-quickening rapid. Eventually, aIter raIting Ior two hours, we
drive to Pokhara Irom where we either drive back to Kathmandu oI Ily back to Kathmandu.
