Fantastic Foundation for GCSE Students


We are delighted to report that during their recent GCSE exams 72.2% of our Year 8 2008 leavers gained an A* or an A grade. This compares to the national average of 23.2% for A* or A . We are very proud that our Year 8 leavers have proved the strength of a Tockington Manor School foundation.

Year 2 Trip
Last week Year 2 visited the SS Great Britain as part of their History topic. The children really enjoyed exploring the ship and decided they would prefer to travel First Class. They participated with enthusiasm in their educational workshop and learned about 'hot riveting' They were commended on their knowledge and understanding and the guide said it was always a joy to have Tockington Manor School visit. Well done, Year 2!

School Exams
Exams for Years 5-8 will take place on Monday 28th November to Friday 2nd December.

Long Exeat
Long Exeat begins at 4.00 pm on Friday 2nd December. There are no evening activities on that day.

Nearly New Shop


The nearly new shop will be open on Thursday 1st December from 2.00 to 4. 00 pm.

Music News
Congratulations to our new Head Choristers who are Aditi Mehendale and Olivia Campbell (Junior Choir) and Eleanor Clark and Blanca Kirkendell (Performance Choir).

Advance Notice
Tuesday 6th December 10.30 am Wrens & Robins Christmas Play in school hall. Tuesday 6th December 2.00 pm Owls Christmas play in school hall. Thursday 8th December Years 3-5 Theatre Trip to Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham to see Jack & The Beanstalk Friday 9th December 2.00 pm Lower School Christmas Play in school hall.

Good Intention & Politeness Awards (3rd Quarter, Autumn Term)

TMS Fun Run


Saturday 26th November This is the day of our annual school run or trudge through the mud. There will be an early lunch followed by our mass run. Parents are welcome to join us. Assemble 1.15 pm at school. School will finish at 3.15 pm as this is the weekend prior to exams.

Cross Country
Senior Performances of the week from Oliver Harris, Lauren Clark, Toscane Simon, John Pineau, Ben Horler, Charlotte Harper, Aditi Mehendale and Hamish Gardner. Oliver Harris achieved a list time of 13 minutes 58 seconds. Lauren Clark came fourth in the raced, only headed by Oliver, Pepe and Andreas. She ran a fabulous 14 minutes 50 seconds, placing her 27th on the all time cross country list. The Year 5 challenge was won by Charlotte Harper. She improved her time by a huge 69 seconds. Congratulations, Charlotte! Junior Performances of the Week: Louis Clevett, Oscar Watts, Tabitha Huby, Bellayia Lazarides. Tabitha Huby (Years 3 & 4) and Oliver Harris (Years 5-8) are our current leaders in the Winter Chase competition.

Circuit of Activities
A fun-filled afternoon of target throwing, assault course navigating, running, football skills, basketball skills, relays and much more was enjoyed by all last Saturday. Congratulations to the Tockingtonians (Eleanor Clark, Andreas Benito, Zac Portch, Abigail Blackwell, Antonia Hopcraft and Darren Banks) who were the winners. Tockingtonians 116 points Burdensomes 93 points Armadas 92 points Oldburyites 87 points Sheep Herders 86 points Galloping Gallegos 76 points Aussie Exiles 76 points The Kirks 74 points Well done to all the teams. It was a great afternoon.

Swimming News
Congratulations to Year 2 for a magnificent term in the pool. They have broken all their targets in distance and their enthusiasm is infectious! Well done, Year 2!

Fixture Changes
The hockey fixtures on Wednesday 30th November will now be U10 and U12 at Colstons with a 2.30 pm start. The boys matches on Wednesday 7th December will be football practices with Wycliffe and Beaudesert Park and not rugby as published in the calendar. The U13 girls will be playing two hockey teams against Clifton on the 7th at home (1.45 pm start).

Children in Need
Thank you to everyone for supporting Children in Need. We raised 300. Congratulations to Jessie Sanzo who won the Pudsey Bear raffle.

House Water Polo


The inter-house water polo finals will take place on Wednesday 14th December from 2.15-4.00 pm. Please note that the Under 9s will have their matches from 2.15-3.00 pm and the Under 11s and Under 13s from 3.00-4.00 pm. The Under 9 day children may leave at 3.00 pm after their match. U11 and U13 day children can leave at 4.00 pm. Please note the buses will leave at the normal time. Lists will be in the lobby but every pupil will take part.
