Specification
6.35/11
Conductors
are plam annealed
copper or aluminium cornplvinq
with 85.6360.
Conductor screening IS a layer of
extruded
semi-conducting
compound having a nominal thickness
of 07 mm.
Insulation consists of cross-linked
polyethylene which is applied by
extrusion
to form a compact
homogeneous layer. The average
thickness of the insulation is not
less than 34 mm.
Core. Screen consists of a layer of
semi-conducting
compound,
a
semi-conducting tape and a metallic
layer. The metallic part will be plain
copper wires plus a counter helix of
plain copper tape for single-core
cable and plain copper tape only for
multi-core cable.
laying-Up
The screened cores of
multi-core cables are laid up with
suitable fillers to form a compact
circular assembly. A suitable binder
IS applied over the laid up cores.
Bedding consists of an extruded
layer of black PVC compound complvmq with the requirements of
Type 9 to 85.6746.
Armour
Multi-core
cables are
armoured With galvanised steel
wires.
These give the cable
strength and also act as a low resistance earth return conductor. While
single-core cables are not normally
armoured, non-magnetic armour of
ah.rrunturn wire or strip is available if
requested.
Oversheath
consists
of an
extruded layer of black PVC compound complying with the requirements of Type 9 to 85.6746.

Specification
19/33
Conductors
are plain annealed
copper or alur-uruurn cornplvinq
with 8S.6360.
Conductor screening IS a layer of
extruded semi-conducting
compound having a nominal thickness
of 07 mm.
Insulation consists of cross-linked
polyethylene which is applied by
extrusion
to form a compact
homogeneous layer. The average
thickness of the insulation is not
less than 80 mm.
Standard Conditions
The following conditions have been
used to calculate the current ratings
given in the tables:

Straight Joint
Single and Three Core Cables
Thrs modern joir-t . ~:1;E: S designed
o reduce jcrnnnq time and simplify
procedures.
The range covers all single and
hree core cable sizes. Conductors
can be JOined with mechanical,
compression or sweated connectors. Insulation ISby means of loose
ittlng moulded rubber housmqs
which do not depend on the properties of the filling compound for their
electrical Integrity, and are factory
tested to ensure reliable long term
operation
Voltages Up to 8.75/15 kV
Sizes:
Due to the large range taking capability of the loose fitting rubber
housrnqs
only two sizes are
required for the full range of cable
sizes up to 300 sq.mm.

Straight Joint
Single and Three Core Cables
This IS a general purpose straight
JOint requiring no unusual JOlntlng
skills for correct Installation. The
range covers all single and three
core cable sizes.
The conductors are JOined with a
compression connector. Self amalgamating tapes are then applied to
give a fully screened Insulation reinstatement which does not depend
on the properties of the filling com-
