How to upgrade and Restore (downgrade) your ROM n.b: 1.

What you need to know: - SPL (second program loader) is used to boot to gadget's ROM, it is equal to BI OS in Net- Notebook/ PC. - Radio is a bridge between OS and Hardware, it is equal to driver in Net- Noteb ook/ PC. - ROM is the operating system that run applications in your gadget, it is equal to OS in Net- Notebook/ PC. - HardSPL is done to make our device can run unofficial ROM (Customized or Pure ROM). So this will make the SPL unprotected and able to run any ROM *Warning* It is not a SIM Unlocker. If you want go to http://forum.xda-developer s.com/showthread.php?t=523203 - StockSPL is done to restore your original SPL if your phone needed to be sent to SESC for warranty reason. (Read your warranty card's term and condition) - Radio and ROM is packaged in the same files. - There's no official WM6.5.x ROM for X1 so far so you need look for customized ROM by the chef. - In XDA (PDA+ Phone) world, I think there is two type of flashing ROM; via Acti veSync and microSD. Here's article is made to flash your ROM via microSD, which is the simplest. note: If you'd like to flash you ROM via ActiveSync (or some people called it as "cust omRUU"), you can read my article "How to Flash your ROM - Custom RUU") 2. Restricted: - NEVER run other program and minimize while HardSPL - NEVER softreset if the step hasn't finished yet 3. Always perform Task29 if you are planning to try many ROMs (You can read my a rticle about "How to Clean XPERIA ROM") 4. *Warning* Try it at your own risk. 2. Flashing After breaking the protected SPL now you may flash the ROM note: The ROM that you used should be named as *.image or *.nbh. Rename that file to K ovsimg.nbh. The MicroSD card must be formatted as FAT32 (You needn't format it again if it h as been formatted as FAT32) How to confirm that my MicroSD Card is formatted as FAT32? (WM6.1) - Tap "Start Menu" - Point to "Settings" - Open "Connections" - Set DiscDrive in "USB to PC" program - Just connect your X1 to Net- Notebook /PC using USB Cable - See "My Computer" and right click on the X1 Storage card Drive, then click pro perties and see "File Sytem" how it is formatted Note: You may use a MicroSD Card Reader if you prefer that way. To flash

- Copy the Kovsimg.nbh into the root directory of your MicroSD card - Turn off the phone (USB cable not attached) - Remove and Reinsert the battery (It is recommended eventhough it is not really a big deal) - Hold the volume down button and turn the device on again, still holding both b uttons until the "tri-color" screen shows up. - Follow the onscreen instructions How to restore your ROM (in case for warranty reason.): *Warning* First you must restore stock ROM and radio (Sony Ericsson Original ROM , e.g. SonyEricsson_X1i_firmware_GENERIC_UK_R3AA010, you may search it in XDA-De vs, X1 subforum - http://forum.xda-developers.com- or Sony Ericsson Website if a vailable). Stock SPL is always to be done last!! - Run the hardspl package, but do not press Next button i.e do not go ahead with flash yet. - at this point, take the extracted stock SPL, a RUU_Signed.NBH file, and overwr ite the other RUU_Signed.NBH in hardspl package. - go on with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU w hen it goes to tricolour screen with 0.52.OliNex version), it goes to 100%, rebo ots, done. :: to verify, enter bootloader (by pressing and holding down volume button with power button) then check version number on tricolour screen. it should show: KOVS110 SPL-0.78.0000 MicroP1-787 MicroP2-707 Thank you for reading!
