What is a cyclic quadrilateral?
 It is a quadrilateral
which is surrounded
by a circle on all its 4
corners.
 FUNDAMENTAL RULE
: opposite angles of a
cyclic quadrilateral are
supplementary.
 When the sum of 2
angles is equal to 180,
then we call them
supplementary angles.

In a circle of 7 cm radius a triangle
of maximum size is formed. What is
the area of triangle?
 The triangle will be equilateral triangle.
Its median will be 7 *3/2 = 21/2. thus its
side will be 21/2 * 2/1.732 = 21/1.732
 Its area is 1.732/4 *side square

 =1.732/4 *21/1.732 *21/1.732

 =(21*21)/(4*1.732)

 =63.65 sq. cm answer.

In a circle of 7 cm radius a rectangle
of maximum size is formed. What is
the area of rectangle?
 The area of rectangle will be maximum,
when it becomes a square. Thus let us
form a square. The diagonal of the
square is 14.
 Area of square = ½ *diagonal * diagonal

 ½ *14*14

 = 98 sq. cm. answer.

A regular hexagon is inscribed in a
circle of radius 4. What is the area of
hexagon?
 Each side of hexagon will be 4.
 Area of hexagon = 6 * area of equilateral
triangle.
 = 6 *1.732/4 * 4*4

 =41.5 sq. cm answer.

Find the length of common chord of
two circles with radii of 6 & 8 cm.
the centres are 10 cm apart.
We know the area of a
triangle = ½ * height *
base.
=1/2 *height * 10
Base = 10

=Sqrt (12*4*6*2) = 24sq.
Cm.
5*height = 24.
Height = 4.8
Thus chord = 9.6 answer.

side of a circle. The distance
between the chords is 7 CM. what is
the radius of the circle?

Lengths of
chords are 10 & 24 cm?
 Let radius be X.
 X ^2 = 12^2 +y^2
 X^2 = 5^2+(Y+7)^2
 Solving these we
get: 14Y+49-119=0
 14 Y = 70
 Y = 5.
 Thus X = 13
answer.
