TRIBUTE TO MARTYRS

As you read this newsletter Pakistan is mourning the loss


of its twenty four finest soldiers who became victims of NATO attack on a Pakistani checkpost. Pakistani community globally condemns this attack. This attack occurred as the Islamic world embraced new Islamic year which began with remembering the Shahadat of Imam Hussain (A.S). The martyrs are now laid to rest in the soil that trufully belongs to them. Please take time to recite Surae Fateha for the team led by Major Majid Shaheed and include those injured in the attack in your prayers for a speedy recovery. The team is now off to New Zealand to participate in Champions Trophy and will play its first match against England on 3rd Deceamber so our best wishes for the team and hopefully Pakistani community in New Zealand will not be disappointed.

VOCATIONAL GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN DEVELOPMENTAL TRAUMA 2012 OFFERED IN CANBERRA This training is delivered by the Australian Childhood Foundation and has not been offered in Canberra before, but has been run across Australia for the past two years. The course will be delivered at Marymead's premises in Narrabundah, where there is plenty of free parking and beautiful amenities. The course will commence on 17th February 2011 and will be run in three day and two day blocks, totalling 20 days and ending on 28th September 2011. Please let us know by reply email if you would be interested in obtaining the course brochure. The brochure includes an overview of the course, the dates and times, costs and the enrolment form. The price has been significantly reduced from that offered in other states as Marymead are providing the venue for no price.

Policy Advisor Not-for-Profit Part-Time 1 Year Term economic Security4Women (eS4W) is a dynamic organisation committed to the lifelong economic well being of Australian women. Funded through the Federal Governments Office for Women, and representing an alliance of 30 women-based member organisations, we are seeking an experienced, committed and highly capable person to take on the newly created role of Policy Advisor. The Policy Advisor will work closely with a dedicated Management group and representatives of a committed member organisations who are all focused on proactively responding to current issues through developing policy positions and key advocacy themes in line with eS4W goals and objectives. The Policy Advisor will maximise the effectiveness of the Alliance by developing political themes and communication messages which will be of a high standard and utilise all communication mediums. experience in policy development and an ability to communicate policy successfully to diverse stakeholders; strong research and analytical skills, and a strong interest in advocacy and public affairs an ability to manage complex projects and deliver outcomes within designated time frames and achieving set milestones; and an understanding of the current political environment for women
