Mark VI Training Simulator

fact sheet
Availability
The Training Simulator is available for all Mark VI control systems applied to any gas or steam turbine with a generator or mechanical load. It is also available for power island applications, such as Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), and balance of plant applications, such as combined cycle plants. GE Energy can also provide an experienced instructor to teach a regular training course or a customized program at your site.

Introduction
Improve the effectiveness of your operations and maintenance with GE Energys Mark VI Training Simulator. The training simulator uses your actual site-specific application software and operator screens to drive the turbine simulation. Operators can refresh their knowledge of commands and system responses on a replica of the actual turbine control with no risk to the turbine. Training can occur on site, for any shift, at your convenience and be repeated days, weeks, or years later for new personnel. Maintenance personnel can also train on editing and downloading real turbine software, trend parameters as they actually respond on the unit, and exercise the wide range of advanced analysis tools that are available to maintain the turbine. The training software can even be updated to reflect changes made on the real unit and be compared with the original code its the real deal!

Benefits
Operators Improved effectiveness in using screens, alarm management, and trending Maintenance Decreased time required to troubleshoot problems and maintain unit availability Refresh Skills Revisit basic tasks that are infrequently needed, but still important in the modern age of automated controls Life Cycle Cost A permanent, onsite, simulator to provide effective, ongoing training for the life of the control system

The Product
Application software from your turbine control and operator station(s) is loaded on a PC and runs a model of your turbine. This includes actual settings of tuning constants for gains, offsets, ramp rates, and alarm and trip setpoints. The model is an integrated environment with current versions of our software maintenance tools for Toolbox, the CIMPLICITY graphics package, and GE product code. A notebook or desktop PC is supplied with options for printers, keyboards, monitors, etc. Like any PC, it can be connected to a video projection system for training small or large audiences. Sites with different types of turbines, such as combined cycle plants, can usually have both the gas and steam turbine training software on a common PC. Offsite capability is available with software options for webbased viewing via Microsoft Internet Explorer. This enables training of multiple plants from a central location, such as a corporate training center.

Features
Actual site-specific software Simulation with snap, restore, freeze, and initial conditions functionality Fully functional operator screens and navigation Alarm management tools Trending tools Trip history Editors for application software and screens Adjust tuning constants Software block libraries and documentation Security/password settings Watch windows to organize and export data Finder/data search tool Compare tool for software revisions

Complementary Products and Training

Several off-the-shelf training simulations are available for standard turbine designs to complement site-specific simulations. And, an exact replica of your turbine control hardware can be used to run simulation software to further familiarize maintenance personnel with the equipment. Additionally, GE Energy also provides basic and advanced courses on Mark VI, Mark VIe, legacy turbine controls, and related products, such as generator controls. These are available worldwide at GE Energy training centers or at your site, either customized or in standard format. Additional programs are available for training on the turbine.
