Accounting 1 Syllabus Welcome to your course.

Please read through the entire syllabus paying close attention to the grading and module breakdown. If you have any questions, please let your instructor know. This course emphasizes on the accounting requirements for service businesses using manual systems. The accounting cycle is covered, from the original business transaction to posting transactions to the General Ledger, including the preparation and interpretation of financial statements. This course provides the skills necessary to qualify for an entry-level job.

Course Competencies: The student will be able to understand basic record keeping procedures. The student will understand the double-entry accounting principles. The student will be able to Analyze, journalize, and post transactions.

Grading and Evaluation Criteria: 100% of your grade is based on the scores in the module exams; you need to complete the modules to obtain progress in this class. The minimum passing score for all the course work is 80%. It is your responsibility to send an email to the instructor after each module to get credit for your work.
Students will be given a competency rating of MC = Mastered Competency or NM = Not Mastered. In order to better prepare students for the workplace, all SAT students are expected to complete their courses by 100% of the published clock hours. Make note of the date you are required to complete the course so that you can work through your course in a timely manner and complete on time.

If upon review of the content of the course competencies, you feel that you are prepared to test out of this course, please notify your instructor. The instructor will explain the procedure to follow, and you will need to pass all required assessments with an 80% or better. If you are unable to pass the test the first time, you will be required to study the course material before attempting the assessments again. Complete the review questions using your book to make sure you understood all the concepts. Revisiting the opener exercise is optional. If you choose to do this exercise, email it to your instructor with the heading "Chapter 1 Revisiting the Opener." Complete the exercises series A&B at the end of the chapter. You can ask you instructor for the answer key after you complete the exercises to check your answers. The Managing Your Writing section is optional. It would benefit you to complete these assignments, but they are NOT to be graded by your instructor.

Accounting I Competency Challenge Assessment If, upon the review of the content of the course competencies, you believe that you already know the material, you may test out of the course. To do this, you must test on Chapters 1-4 in the book and pass each test at 80% or better on the first attempt. If you do not pass, you will need to go through the course material before attempting the exam again. Exam - Click on the Competency Challenge Exam in the Table of Contents to begin your exam. Turn in all required papers to your instructor for grading. Exam Tips: 1. Read each task completely before attempting it. Some tasks contain multiple steps that are easy to overlook. 2. Perform a task in the same way as you normally would. Do not perform any steps other then the steps required to complete each task. 3. Save your work file in your USB memory like you did with the lesson files.

4. Email your file to the instructor in the way you did with your homework files. Type in the subject line "Spreadsheet I Final Exam" 5. Return all the paperwork to your instructor.
