In any crisis - regardless of industry, location or happenings communication is the essential ingredient that will dictate its success or otherwise in the eyes of the stakeholders, the general public, the legislators and the authorities. In this Forum, we will look at the changing trends in the media from your basic TV and print media in the 90s, to todays hi-tech developments allowing for 24/7 news broadcasts, worldwide. To which we have now the added ease of citizen journalism (using their blackberries, iPhone videos and webcams) and the growing phenomenon of social media. Participants at our Forum will learn to understand the media how it operates and why. We will then go on to deal with specific examples of past issues and where the problems lie and the solutions. Issues such as insurance, piracy, whistleblowers and pollution/collision incidents. The afternoon session will be an interactive session, dealing with the structure of the media response and focusing on different types of interviews and scenarios, with journalists providing the questions and the audience the answers with reviews and comments from an international panel. MTI will also provide examples of model answers for different types of interviews. This will provide the practical training and solutions to enable you to professionally respond to topics discussed. The interactive session will be videoed in its entirety and delegates will receive a DVD of complete session after the conclusion of the Forum.
