_______________________________________________________________________________________ SINUMERIK 810D / 840Di sl / 840D / 840D sl Upgrade Instructions Start-Up Tool V07.02 6FC5250-7AY00-2AG_ _______________________________________________________________________________________ Installation on PC / PG: The installation of this software tool requires a PC running Windows-XP SP2 (not Windows 95 / 98 / ME / 2000 / NT), CD-ROM drive, network card, 512MB RAM min. and 1GB of free hard disk capacity. The Start-Up Tool includes all texts in the five European standard languages as well as in Chinese Simplified. The help feature for setting data and machine data is generally offered in German and English only. The Start-Up Tool includes Acrobat Reader V4, which is used for the help feature. Please note that the help feature of the Start-Up Tool becomes inoperative if an Acrobat Reader V5 or higher is installed. The Start-Up Tool has only been released for screen resolutions of 640x480 to 1024x768. "Small font sizes" must be specified for the desktop on a PC/PG. As a rule, font size 8 is used. The Start-Up Tool is entered in the Windows Registry upon installation and can be uninstalled again via Control Panel / Software. Only one HMI Advanced or one Start-Up Tool may be installed on a WinXP system at any time. The Start-Up Tool can be run without administrator rights if the logged on user has write access in the installation directory and its subdirectories. The Start-Up Tool has a default screen resolution of 640x480 and can be switched over to full-screen mode for the current screen resolution (1024x768 max.). To do this, the "RESOLUTION=1" entry must be set in the [Control] section of the ...\user\mmc.ini file. Please read the documentation "Start-Up Functions for HMI Advanced (IM4)" on the supplied CD. General notes on the installation of the Start-Up Tool: Any existing Start-Up Tool V06.xx should be uninstalled first since otherwise the Start-Up Tool V07.02 will be automatically configured for operation with 840D powerline. The data management and all files in the ...\user, ...\add_on, ...\oem directories can be retained. In ...\user\mmc.ini, any existing [NCU840D] section must be completely deleted or suppressed by commenting.

Installation of the Start-Up Tool: To start the installation, call up the SETUP.EXE in the Start-Up Tool directory of the supplied CD-ROM. The InstallShield wizard will then guide you through the installation. The target directory can be freely selected. There will be a request to specify the installation variant: either solution line, i.e. operation on NCU7x0, or powerline, i.e. operation on an 810D or 840D.

Connection of the PC / PG to an NCU 7x0: The communication between the Start-Up Tool and the NCU is made via a network connection based on TCP/IP (see IM5 documentation on supplied CD for details). The simplest case is a direct connection between a network card of the PC / PG and the NCU 7x0, X120 by means of a crossed network cable. The network card of the PC / PG will be preset to the fixed IP address 192.168.214.250 with SubnetMask 255.255.255.0. In this configuration, the Start-Up Tool can communicate with the NCU since the NCU IP address is preset in the Start-Up Tool on X120 to 192.168.214.1. Alternatively, the network connection to the NCU can also be established over a corporate network. In this case, the PC will get its IP address as usual from the DHCP of the corporate network. The NCU is connected to the corporate network via X130 and will also be assigned its IP address from the DHCP of the corporate network. This IP address can either be obtained from the network administrator or read from the seven-segment display during the start-up of the NCU with NC switch position 8. The IP address of the NCU must be communicated to the Start-Up Tool under Start-Up / HMI / NCU connection. If a connection still cannot be established, please check the following: Can the NCU be pinged from the PC / PG? (DOS shell, ping 192.168.214.1 ) Line 199 Startup1 = name := cp_840di, Timeout := 0 in ..\mmc2\regie.ini must not be suppressed by commenting. ..\mmc2\mmc.ini or ..\user\mmc.ini must include an [NCU840D] section of the following form that must not be suppressed by commenting: [NCU840D] ADDRESS0=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/NC,SAP=040d,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS1=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/PLC,SAP=0201,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS2=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/CP,SAP=0501,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS10=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/DRIVE0,SAP=0201,SUBNET=00460010:3,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS11=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/DRIVE1,SAP=0a00,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS12=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/DRIVE2,SAP=0b00,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS13=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/DRIVE3,SAP=0c00,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS14=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/DRIVE4,SAP=0d00,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT ADDRESS15=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/DRIVE5,SAP=0e00,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT An ADDRESS4=/SELF,10000103 line is irrelevant. Important when upgrading from software 7.1: Delete the existing [NCU840D] section with all entries from user\mmc.ini. Start the Start-Up Tool 7.2, and modify the IP address of the NCU in the Start-up / HMI / NCU connection screen if it differs from the standard. Select the Start up / Machine data / Control Unit screen. If parameter values are shown there (and not #), then exit and restart the Start-Up Tool. This creates a current [NCU840D] section in user\mmc.ini, and all drives can now be accessed. Connection of the PC / PG to an 810D / 840D: The communication between the Start-Up Tool and the 810D / 840D is made over an MPI connection from the MPI/DP port of the PC / PG to the MPI / OPI port of the 810D / 840D. On the Start-Up Tool side, OPI is preset to 1.5 Mbps and NC/PLC address 13. The MPI interface of the PC / PG (Control Panel / Set PG/PC Interface) must be set to S7ONLINE (STEP7) CPxxxx (MPI). Switch-over between solution line and powerline: It is possible for service purposes to switch over the Start-Up Tool for operation on solution line or powerline. This requires that the tool is installed to run on solution line. The "NC Connect Wizard" program, with which the switchover can be made, can be called under Start / Programs / SINUMERIK 840D. Note: The switch-over must occur before the Start-Up Tool is started. The "NC Connect Wizard" program only changes the [NCU840D] section in ...\user\mmc.ini. The regie.ini is not changed because a running cp_840di does not affect the operation on powerline. If STEP7 is used in parallel, the S7 interface must be manually toggled between TCP/IP and MPI. Note for operation on the 2nd desktop: When the Start-Up Tool is started on the 2nd desktop, the header with the alarm line may not appear. Remedy: Start the Task Manager on the 2nd desktop (e.g. via Start / Run -> taskmgr). Mark the "Header" in the "Applications" tab and click the right mouse button on "In foreground". ==================================================================== New features compared to Start-Up Tool 7.1 ==================================================================== System: When operated on solution line, the subnet IDs of the drives are now automatically determined.

Start-up area: Improvements to the drive start-up in solution line. Drive start-up with 840Di sl ==================================================================== Compatibility ==================================================================== The Start-Up Tool V07.02 can be combined with the NCU 710 / NCU 720 software version 1.3.1 and 810D / 840D from software version 6.5, 840Di sl SW1.0 The help system is based on the documentation of the NCU software version 1.3 (solution line) or 7.2 (powerline version). The NC alarm texts are based on NCU software version 1.3 (solution line) or 7.2 (powerline version). The Start-Up Tool V07.02 can only run on WinXP. The Start-Up Tool V07.02 only supports new design. The Upgrade Archive function is no longer available for solution line.

==================================================================== Known restrictions ====================================================================

Diagnostics area: When working with 840D sl, the first selection of the HMI version screen takes a very long time.

Start-up area: SINAMICS drive start-up: When dimensioning the speed controller of a linear drive, the offset is weighted too high by a factor of 100. This means that when an offset of 10 mm/min is desired, the drive traverses at 1000 mm/min. The same applies to the amplitude. SINAMICS drive start-up: Disturbance und mechanical frequency response measurements are not functional. Current controller measurement is not possible with drives with brakes if they are managed via SINAMICS. No SINAMICS drive parameters can be added in user views. There are no file functions for SINAMICS parameters (control unit, infeed and drives). The Start-Up Tool does not support parameterization of the SINAMICS DAC. The functionality of the commissioning of Safety Integrated with SINAMICS has not been released. The NCK data have to be copied into the drive data manually. In order to confirm the data, MDs 36998[0..1] have to be copied to MDs 36999[0..1] for the axes, and the parameters p9728[0..1] copied to p9729[0..1] for the drives. After copying and confirming, the data in the drive must be backed up, and then the drives and NCK restarted. This also has to be done manually.
