SCOTLAND (2013)
This Action Plan has been developed to be a live document. The agriculture sector will consider adapting to climate change on an ongoing basis. New actions will emerge and develop as knowledge increases and will be included.

List of Current and Planned Actions:


PILLAR ONE - Understanding the consequences of a changing climate:

Action Enhance existing advice and guidance to enable and support land managers taking up voluntary adaptation measures.

Delivery SG, Soil Association Scotland, SAC, Lantra, Key Stakeholders.

Timescale Provision of advice and guidance to land managers is ongoing.

Deliverables Soil Association Scotland to deliver a further 7 training events under the Adapting to Climate Change Skills Programme between January 2011 and October 2011. Scottish Agricultural College to further develop the Farming For a Better Climate initiative to integrate adaptation; specifically: Development of comprehensive guidance on adaptation by June 2011;

Update the Farming For a Better Climate website to include practical guides on climate change impacts and adaptation by August 2011; and

Stimulate the provision of adaptation advice by awareness raising at Farming for a Better Climate open days and Focus Farm events throughout 2011.

Lantra to liaise with key stakeholders to identify skills gaps and training needs for climate change adaptation to be included in 2011 - 2012 work-plan by March 2011.

Action Support climate change adaptation objectives during the negotiations for the EU Common Agricultural Policy post 2013.
