If there arise a question of choice whether to choose water or soft drink rural people would obviously prefer water.

Because that is what their taste is, that is what gives them a sense of satisfaction. And other than water it is lime juice; what they call it as sherbath they would prefer if at all they want a refreshment for their throat. So pepsi-coke in rural India, would just be loss making one and if it speaks about lemon flavored ones like limca and all, actually they don't need them at all as they have fresh lemons at their homes. Its for the urban people where we would like to taste something different always and to severe to guests on occasions people need them. So instead of providing Pepsi-coke its better to provide rural people with safe drinking water. water is the most essential element for all the living being. But we should understand one thing that, abolishing coke and Pepsi companies will not put an end to the water problem in India. The government and the people are responsible for this scarcity, where we had fail to conserve water for our future generation and now we are witnessing this problem. And this has to do nothing with coke or pepsi they are just additional beverages which gives temporary pleasure to humans. And having coke once in a while will never bring any harm, provided human knows to control his limits. n my point of view we still have villages in India where people are dying due to scarcity of water. Coke or Pepsi are the things not at all needed to survive, but what needed is water. One should be able to prioritise whether water is important or soft drinks which are totally harmful to human body.Anna Hazare went on Fasting for 13 days. He just used to drink plenty of water. So think of it that how important the WATER is Drinking water is another precious thing which we are polluting and misusing, Coke & Pepsi they are really drain the whole water supplies through over-exploitation of ground water sources. you can see that Continuing Battle in Kerala against Coca - cola for overexploitation of ground water sources(Plachimada, Palakkad district, Kerala). soda and sweetened drinks are the main source of calories.

there are more health related problems with these soft drinks. our pleasures to drinks it, gives others to fetch the water from long distances. Water is the basic necessity for life on earth. Till date inspite of latest technologies and hardship, we are still not able to expect life on other planet just due to unavailability of water there. And when we have plenty of it here, then we go on wasting it without understanding its importance. Its true that many places in our country are just devoid of water even for their basic needs of everyday life. And the situation becomes worst in the months of summer. But for this the Pepsi and coke companies should not be blamed? The companies put these plants for the sake of their business and vested interest. They should not be blamed for this. Two people are to be blamed for this. First are we the people who consumes these products just for the sake of our taste and then comes the government who permits these companies to set their plants in our country just for fulfilling their petty interests. After all these products contains chemicals which if can't do any harm then even they are not good to our health. If we do not buy these products then of course there is no chance of these companies setting their plants in our country. After-all no man runs his business where he can't achieve more than what he invested. about 70% of india resides in rural areas... which hardly hav access to drinking water and if drinkng water is available dat is contiminated... people in rural ares r dying of thirt and diseases caused by contiminated water... accordng to a survey, diarhea is one of most dreadful disease which killed lakhs of people in india esp. in rural areas where it is caused mainly due to contiminated water ...other disease like cholera etc are also hav same cause... We must take concreate steps to make sure pure drinkng water is made available everwhere in country esp rural areas... as far as coke n pepsi is considered, i am not concerned much if made or not

made available in rural areas, it hardly matter for me or for people of rural areas as compared to pure drinking water.. Now a days irony of the situation in our country is that in our rural areas proper sanitary, clean drinking water is not there, but because of aggressive marketing the products of the soft drinks major have reached these places. Any small shop in remotest of the rural area will have these companies products. While people have to tread miles for bringing clean water, pepsi, cola will be within their easy reach. What will be the choice they tend to make? They will obviously buy cola, pepsi to satitiate their dry throat. While on the one hand water is very good for our body and helps cure many disease, excessive drinking of cola items will slowly make some undesirable impact on our body. CSE have many times proved that it contains unwanted materials like pesticides in low percentage. But government is reluctant to hear. It's only the failure of government that drought like conditions still exist in our villages. In some villages people wash, bath and drink water of same pond. Is it not necessary that government Should promote water purifying companies to set up at these places and provide clean drinking water. There operations can be made profitable by the government or steps like if any industry is set up in areas starved of clean drinking water then they should be made mandatory as part of corporate social responsibility to purify water and supply clean water to villages. They should get rebate on some taxes because of this. If the government Becomes proactive and ensure rural areas to get clean water their obvious choice will not be cola, pepsi but water. Then there body will be prevented from harmful chemicals these so called soft drinks had to offer. Water is an inevitable source of living. One cannot survive without water, there is no comparison between water and coke. Water apart from drinking, is used for cleaning, bathing, sanitation, generating

electricity and in future, cars can also run using water as fuel! coke and all companies are foreign companies who have set up good place for themselves in our country. In rural India, instead of opening cold drink plants, hand pumps, water sources, clean water filters should be opened, to have good agriculture, people can drink clean water also, on the other hand, coke apart from being expensive, is harmful also, as it is a sweet acid. Therefore instead of promoting cokes in rural India. These companies just want to make profit nothing else. The year's theme for World Water Day is Water For Cities. More people are moving to urban areas, the majority of this migration taking place in the developing world. This is in part due to expansion of corporate landgrabs, deforestation, overpopulation and effects of biodistress that push people into urban areas looking for a way to survive as agriculture which is the main way of life is impacted greatly. Three quarters of our population is predicted to be living in cities by 2050 which will put a tremendous strain on infrastructure, water quality, water access and sanitation, which then leads to an increase in waterborne diseases. Access to clean water is the moral challenge of our time and our right. So please, tomorrow take time to reflect upon the importance of clean water, water access and sanitation for those in our world lacking it. We take so much for granted here in America regarding water and the ability to have sanitation that leads to better health. This site lists events globally and I will be posting about events in this thread as well as listing organizations working to provide clean water and sanitation and how you can help, as well as other entries about the importance of this most beautiful life giving resource. Please feel free also to add poems, videos, comments, etc. about water here and make a pledge that for this and the next generation

we will work to see all with clean water that revives our bodies and souls. This is one way that can lead people out of poverty and into a world of health and peace. Water is the most basic element for living beings.human can live up to 30 days by drinking water only, without any food.If coke and pepsi are available in rural areas, then why there is scarcity of water? government must have to take necessary actions for providing water connections in rural areas.pepsi, coke and other cool drinks contain many poisoness in gradients, that will affect human body badly.water is a medicine from nature itself.in olden days water used as a effect medicine.susrutha had developed some treatments using water for curing some diseases. India's 70% people lives in village and their livelihood depends on agriculture. according to my views indian Village need water instead of coke and pepsi, so government should not give them permission because these plants need huge amount of water and it put affect to agriculture and on other side these plant provide employment to villagers but most of them are not too much educated so the work their just as a labour it will make condition more worse.
