What do you understand by this word 'creativity'? Creativity is the act of creation: of forming something new out of existing materials. This can be anything from turning musical notes into a song to choosing ingredients for a dish. Mostly, however, I think it is used as a label for the novelty and mastery achieved by a given product.. e.g. 'that song was very 4 creative'.

I think Edward De Bono is using 'creativity' as a synonym for 'scientific advancement'. You can have creativity without progress, and the same patterns are often repeated regardless of new advances. Generally Very true but it is hard to continually inspire and be inspirational when there are the limitations of coursework deadlines!! Very easy to get into a rut of teaching the work to achieve the grades. I feel I want to shake things up a bit for the students so they can learn new information in a creative way and find their solutions to problems posed by the coursework. Always

Creativity is the ability to tap into a students imagination, ability to get them to express ideas in a non traditional format other than writing. To extend their learning through kinaestetic learning. Fun, entertaining and leaves a lasting memory, Wow 2 factor! To be able to produce something which is unexpected, shows things in a different way and often in a new way. It could also be adapting something that exists to demonstrate something different than what it was originally intended for. It also enable people to access something they have previously 4 been unable to.

You cant wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club. Jack London curiosity Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect experiences they've had and synthesize new things. Steve Jobs.

To be able to think around and beyond a topic or 3 idea. Applying theory to practice, allowing the students to become involved in their learning in terms of 'doing' rather than as passive learners. For example when we study the heart in anatomy, I bring in lambs hearts and the students are entralled to use a real heart to disect which brought the theory alive, especially at KS5 where they can also make cross unit links with for example health and 3 exercise.

I agree Sometimes Agreed - school (and indeed lessons) would be a very boring place were we to teach the same style of lessons to every student we teach, creativity brings excitement, innovation and evokes passion for a subject in children. From a personal view point I still remember key lessons from school, Uni, ..and remember them because they were vibrant, different, pushed the boundaries.... Sometimes
