Introduction In 2003 the United States of America waged war on Iraq and left the country in shambles. The United Nations condemn this act and called the war unjustifiable (Toner, 2007). Moreover, there were no compensation for the lost lives and even after the new President took the oath, the forces still remained in the war-torn country, despite pressure for removal from the world. The repercussions are still faced by the survivors of this war.

Discussion It has been almost a decade, since Iraq was invaded by the United States. Prior to the invasion, Iraq was under a dictatorship rule led by Saddam Hussein and faced many catastrophes both economical and military based on its history. Having witnessed two wars, the Iraqi nationals who include the Shais, Kurds and Uzbeks contributed to the well-educated and wealthy population which subsequently suffered from the economic and social setbacks, which further dented the countrys infrastructure and image.

The 2003 Iraq war 3 War on Iraq In the year 2003, the war started when United States of America bombed Iraqs Capital Baghdad. Under the Presidency of George Bush Jr. American forces forced into Iraq, as the United States of America had declared war because Iraq posed as a continuing threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security. The United States claimed that Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction which would disrupt world peace. However, according to a comprehensive U.S. government report, no weapons of mass destruction been

found. There are accounts of Polish troops obtaining antiquated warheads, dating from the 1980s, two of which contained trace amounts of the nerve gas cyclosarin, but U.S. military tests found that the rounds were so deteriorated that they would "have limited to no impact if used by insurgents against coalition forces (Hulse, 2007). Space? The US military invaded Iraq and humiliated the people. During house searches, the military broke in with dogs, ridiculing male members of households and frisking females inappropriately. They tortured the male and female prisoners in all the detention centres across Iraq especially Abu Ghraib which made international headlines.

The 2003 Iraq war 4 Many countries did not pay heed to what was happening in Iraq and nobody bothered regarding the social welfare of the Iraqis. However, U.N raised their concern, when the news of ridiculing and humiliating Iraqi people came into notice and then they took action.

Wars effect on United Nations War on Iraq, has had a ripple effect, as United Nations been affected by it tremendously. It is been almost a decade and Iraqs pock marked walls are still erect, showing the brutal mass murder which took place in the early years of the new millennium. Families were abolished, women raped, men tortured and children killed. Iraq already was under a dictatorship rule of Saddam Hussein, who was subsequently captured by American forces and was hanged to death.

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan called the war to be illegal and had breached the U.N (United Nations) Charter. He also said that this invasion was not

sanctioned by the UN (united nation) Security Council or was accordance of the U.N charter. Moreover, he said that the deal was between the U.N Security Council and Iraqs compliance with the resolution 1441. He further said that

The 2003 Iraq war 5 it U.N would have dealt with this issue their way and U.S.As intervention was considered as illegal and unjustifiable.

The UN chief had warned the US and its allies a week before the invasion in March 2003 that military action would violate the UN charter. But he has hitherto refrained from using the damning word "illegal". Other foreign ministers including Mr. Tony Blair and Jack Straw claimed that Saddam Hussein breached Security Council resolution 1441 passed late in 2002, and has plans of developing weapons of mass destruction. Other countries who are members of the United Nations claimed these allegations to be insufficient and unjustifiable. United States of America could not justify the reason for waging war on Iraq and kept on putting acquisitions on Iraq as it being a failed state and the ruler Saddam Hussein was a traitor. Space??

The Iraq war crisis are still discussed and highlighted, as possible solutions to Co op with the repercussion.

Understanding Iraqi reaction to defeating was not given much importance and the prevailing sects were not given any consideration or support by the government. But now the tables have turned, as U.N has promised to help the Iraqi people to Co op with the disastrous after math. They have given quotas regarding supplies to the people there providing them with food and shelter along with medical facilities. Also, they are trying to rehabilitate whatever left in the country.
