IMPORTANT POINTS RELATED TO COMMON ENTRANCE TEST 2010 AND SEAT SELECTION PROCESS.
PRECEDING TO ENTRANCE TEST
1. The application form is a combination of both ICR and OMR concept. Candidates are required to fill the application form using blue or black ballpoint pen and also for few items candidates are required to fill and shade the respective circles of item. 2. The information / particulars furnished by the candidates in their CET - 2010 application form is FINAL. 3. Before claiming eligibility for Government seats, make sure that you satisfy any one of the eligibility clauses detailed in Item 6 of Chapter I of the brochure. The candidates who do not satisfy any of the eligibility clauses will not be eligible for admission to Government seats. 4. If the information furnished by the candidates in the application form or any other documents submitted by the candidates / parents are found to be false / incorrect, such candidate's seat will be cancelled at any point of time during his course of study and criminal proceedings will be initiated by the Government against the candidate. 5. The ward of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants are required to appear for the Common Entrance Test for admission to professional courses for the seats earmarked for them by the Government. (Refer Item7(5) of Chapter I of the brochure.) 6. Make sure that you have affixed ONLY your LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION within the space provided on the backside of the application form. 7. Before submitting the filled application form to the Principals / KEA, the candidates should take a photocopy of the filled application form and should keep it with them for all future reference / correspondence. 8. While submitting the filled application form, do not enclose any paper / certificate / marks card to the filled application form. 9. If you have studied TEN full academic years continuously from 1st to 10th standards in Kannada Medium, then you are eligible to claim reservation under Kannada Medium quota. 10. Candidates who have submitted their filled application form to the concerned schools / colleges within Karnataka, will get their Admission Tickets through the respective schools / colleges. The candidates who have submitted their filled application forms through 'Speed Post' directly to KEA will get their Admission Tickets by 'Speed Post' to the address furnished by them in their application form. 11. If any candidate fails to receive the admission ticket within the stipulated time, then he / she has to contact the respective Principals of the institution / KEA office with a photocopy of the filled application form.

DURING THE ENTRANCE TEST


1. The Common Entrance Test will be held for TWO DAYS on four different sessions on 28-04-2010 and 29-04-2010. 2. The candidates must appear for Common Entrance Test in PCB subjects for admission to Medical / Dental / Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses and PCM subjects for admission to Engineering / Technology Courses conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. For admission to Architecture course candidates must appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture. The candidates should read the instructions printed on the OMR answer sheets before answering. The candidates have to mark the correct answers on the OMR answer sheets using BLUE OR BLACK INK BALL POINT PEN ONLY.

4. After completion of each session of the test, the candidates must affix their LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION in the space provided on the bottom portion of OMR answer sheet before handing over the same to the room invigilator. 5. After completion of each session of the test, the candidates will be allowed to carry replica of the filled OMR answer sheet. Such replicas should be preserved for a period of one year. 6. THERE WILL BE NO NEGATIVE MARKING IN RESPECT OF WRONG ANSWERS BUT MARKS WILL NOT BE AWARDED IN RESPECT OF MORE THAN ONE ANSWER INDICATED AGAINST A QUESTION BY A CANDIDATE ON THE OMR ANSWER SHEETS.

AFTER ENTRANCE TEST


1. The ANSWER KEY will be published within SEVEN days after the completion of the entrance test on the KEA website. The candidates / parents / lecturers, can file their objections, if any, within three days in respect of any of the published answer key, along with all the supporting documents & justification. Objections received by the KEA will be placed before an Expert Committee, whose decision will be final in this regard. 2. The candidates who are claiming eligibility under special categories such as NCC, Sports, Anglo-Indian, Defence and Ex-Defence must submit their special category documents to the KEA office during office hours in person invariably on the dates notified against each Special category at Chapter III of Item 1 (A) of the brochure. The candidates who do not submit the special category certificates on the notified dates will not be considered for document verification and also for seat selection under the respective special categories. 3. The regular students (fresher) appearing for Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2010 need not submit the qualifying examination marks card to the KEA. However, repeater students of Karnataka 2nd PUC who have appeared during 2010 or passed the examination before 2010 and the students of CBSE, CISCE, 10+2, other boards who have passed before 2010 or who are appearing 12th standard examination during 2010 must send a photocopy of their qualifying examination marks card (on which the CET Number is boldly written) either in person or only through 'Speed Post' to the KEA, Bangalore after completion of CET - 2010 on or before 11-05-2010. However, the candidates who submit photocopy of their Q. E. marks cards after 11-05-2010, will get their ranks before the commencement of the seat selection process or whenever they submit the Q. E. marks card. 4. The rank list for Medical and Dental courses will be prepared and published only on the basis of marks secured by candidates in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. The candidates who secure 50% (GM) of marks in PCB subjects in the qualifying examination and also in the Common Entrance Test will only be eligible for assignment of Medical / Dental ranks. However, the marks in PCB subjects in both Q. E. and CET will be 40% in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, CAT 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B categories. Further, the candidates (GM) who secure less than 50% of marks taken together in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test and less than 40% in case of SC, ST, CAT 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B categories, will not be awarded any rank for admission to Medical / Dental courses. 5. The rank list for Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy courses will be published only in respect of candidates (GM) who secure 50% of marks taken together in PCB subjects in the qualifying examination; (40% in case of SC, ST, CAT 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B category candidates) irrespective of marks secured in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. 6. The rank list for Engineering & Technology courses will be published only in respect of candidates (GM) who secure 45% of marks taken together in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination, (40% in case of SC, ST, CAT 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B category candidates) irrespective of marks secured in PCM subjects in the Common Entrance Test. 7. The rank list for Architecture course will be published only in respect of candidates who have studied Mathematics as one of the optional subjects and secured an aggregate minimum of 50% marks (GM) in the

Qualifying examination (45% in case of SC, ST, CAT 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B category candidates) and 40% marks in NATA (including SC, ST, CAT 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B categories). The candidate who wants to select only Architecture seat need not to appear for Common Entrance Test, but they have to submit the CET - 2010 filled application form without fail within the specified time. NATA scorecard should be submitted to this office along with a copy of the 2nd PU / 12th Std. examination marks card. The candidates are requested to verify their qualifying examination marks printed on the result sheets without fail, if there is any discrepancy with reference to qualifying examination marks, the same should be brought to the notice of this office immediately for assignment of new ranks, if any. If the qualifying examination marks of the candidates get changed due to revaluation or re-totaling then the candidates are required to submit a copy of the changed marks card to the KEA for assignment of revised / new rank. The seat selection in respect of Physically Disabled, NCC and Sports special category candidates will be held separately for Medical / Dental, I. S. M. & Homoeopathy and Engineering / Technology courses. The other Special category candidates such as Defence, Ex-Defence, Scouts & Guides and Anglo-Indian will be allowed to select the respective special category seats along with the general merit candidates in the order of merit, when their turn comes in the general admission round. (Refer Appendix VII for details). All the candidates (GM, SC, ST Category I and OBC category candidates) must compulsorily produce the STUDY CERTIFICATE obtained from the head of the institution where the candidate has passed the 10th standard / SSLC examination, by mentioning the Standards, Academic years, Mother Tongue as per the admission register of the institution. (Refer Appendix V for study certificate proforma) Candidates belonging to reserved categories should submit caste / income certificate as the case may be, issued by the Tahasildar in Form 'D' for SC, ST, in Form 'E' for Category-I and in Form 'F' for 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B categories. The candidates who had obtained a seat in the previous years in any discipline through KEA (CET Cell) will not be eligible for selection of a seat in the same discipline during this year. Such candidates who select seats in the other discipline will forfeit the seat already selected during previous years. Please read the refund and forfeiture conditions detailed in this brochure carefully. KEA will publish on its website all the details of candidates who have selected seats under reserved category in Medical, Dental, ISM & H, Engineering and Architecture courses, such as candidate's name, father's name, category under which seat selected, annual income of the parent etc., after the casual vacancy round. If a candidate does not surrender the seat to KEA during casual vacancy seat selection round before his/her turn comes, then he / she is deemed to have got admitted to the seat selected by him / her in either of the rounds. If a candidate decides to surrender the seats, he / she has to surrender the seat only to KEA, merely not reporting to the selected college should not be presumed by the candidate that he / she has surrendered the seat to KEA. The candidates who claim seat under rural category will have to obtain a rural study certificate from the respective school / high school issued by the head of the institution which should be countersigned by concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO) as per format shown at page 52. General merit candidates who claim seat in rural category should also submit an income certificate issued from the concerned Tahasildar along with the rural study certificate, as per format shown at page 52. The candidates who have studied in the areas mentioned in Appendix III are not eligible to claim rural category seat. However, if the place where the candidate had studied from 1st to 10th standard had been declared as a rural area at the time of his / her studies, he / she will be eligible under rural quota, even though the same place has been declared as urban area later.

WHAT IS NEW THIS YEAR?


year KEA will hold ONLINE seat selection process at Shimoga and Mangalore apart from Hubli, Gulbarga and Bangalore for Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy, Engineering / Technology and Architecture courses. Please read page 36 for more details. From this year, Special Free CET coaching is organised in the state of Karnataka in 101 selected centers to the rural candidates who appear for CET - 2010. The candidates belonging to any category, who get engineering ranks up to 20000 in the CET - 2010 are eligible to select the engineering seats at Rs. 15,000 + other fee if their annual income is less than Rs. 2.00 Lakhs. Such candidates should produce the income certificate at the time of seat selection. The candidates who have studied TEN full academic years in KANNADA MEDIUM in Government or Government recognized institutions from 1st standard to 10th standard in places outside the state of Karnataka shall be eligible to appear for Common Entrance Test from this year and such candidates need not appear for Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA. Specimen copy of the OMR answer sheet is enclosed with this brochure for the benefit of the candidates. By using blue or black Ink ballpoint, candidates can practice with the OMR answer sheet with regard to filling and shading of the required items. New user friendly Engineering course codes are given at page 62 for the benefit of the students. From this year students will receive SMS alerts with regard to CET - 2010. From this

CHANGE OF COMMON ENTRANCE TEST CELL (CET Cell) AS KARNATAKA EXAMINATIONS AUTHORITY
The Government of Karnataka established Common Entrance Test Cell in the year 1994 for conducting of Entrance Test and to determine the merit of the candidates for admission to Professional courses such as Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine & Homoeopathy, Engineering / Technology & Architecture courses. To expand the activities of the CET Cell, the Government by order No. ED. 212 TEC 2006 dated 20-12-2006 has converted the Common Entrance Test Cell in to an autonomous body Registered under Societies Registration Act 1960 called Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). In all your future correspondence with the KEA do not forget to mention either your CET number or the application serial number along with complete postal address and contact telephone / mobile number.

CHAPTER I
1. INTRODUCTION
The Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2010 is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to the First year or First semester of full time courses in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology courses and NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture for Architecture course, in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided professional educational institutions in the state of Karnataka for the academic year 2010-11. Admissions to the Government seats shall be made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006 (in short Rules) as amended from time to time and therefore the details and instructions contained in this Brochure are subject to the said Rules. In case of any discrepancy, the Rules shall prevail.

2. MODE OF CONDUCTING THE TEST


In order to obtain admission to any of the professional courses through KEA, a candidate must appear for the Common Entrance Test, which will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore (Herein after referred to as KEA). The Common Entrance Test-2010 will be conducted at 43 places, spread over Karnataka (See Appendix - I for details). Candidates who have studied the Qualifying Examination within Karnataka should write 'CET-2010' in a test centre assigned by the KEA within the district in which the candidate has studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard. The details of the written test is as follows:

* KANNADA LANGUAGE TEST : The candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses and whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava, will have to undergo a Kannada language test, to establish their ability to speak, read and write Kannada. The Kannada Language test will be conducted by KEA as per the above schedule in the premises of KEA, at 18th Cross, Malleshwaram, Bangalore; therefore such candidates will have to appear for the 'Common Entrance Test - 2010' in a test centre located at BANGALORE Only. The relevant photocopy of the original documents of the parents in support of their claim such as marks cards, study certificates, etc., along with the CET admission ticket should be produced on the day of Kannada Language Test. (No separate admission ticket will be issued for Kannada language Test). Based on the performance of the candidates in the Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination, as the case may be, the merit / rank list will be prepared and published. All the eligible candidates will be allowed to participate during the seat selection process in the order of their merit / rank for selecting the available seats, as per the time schedule given in Appendix - VII.

3. WHO CAN APPLY?


a) For Medical / Dental courses : A candidate who has passed the second year Pre-University or 12th standard or equivalent examination (herein after referred to as the qualifying examination or Q. E. in short) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Q. E. and who has secured not less than 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Common Entrance Test (herein after referred to as CET) is eligible for admission to Medical and Dental courses. 40% of marks in both Q. E. and CET in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC Category candidates. Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Common Entrance Test, the Medical / Dental rank list will be prepared and published for admission to Medical and Dental courses. b) For Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses : A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Q. E. is eligible for admission to Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses. 40% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST, CategoryI and OBC Category candidates. Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in both Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination by taking the marks in equal proportions, the ISM and H rank list will be prepared and published separately for admission to Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses. Further, the candidates seeking admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, should have completed the age of Seventeen Years as on 31st December of 2010. c) For Engineering / Technology courses : A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 45% marks in the optional subjects in the Q. E. is eligible for Engineering / Technology courses. 40% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC Category candidates. Provided that, the marks obtained by the candidate in Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics in the Q. E., will be considered in place of Chemistry, in case the marks obtained in Chemistry is less for required aggregate percentage, only for the purpose of determination of eligibility and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of Engineering / Technology courses. Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in both Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination by taking the marks in equal proportions, the Engineering rank list will be prepared and published. d) For Architecture course : A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects and secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all subjects in Q. E is eligible for admission to Architecture course. 45% of marks in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC Category candidates. Provided that, a candidate should also appear and secure a minimum of 40% marks in NATA (including SC, ST, Category-I and OBC category candidates as per THE COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTURE IN ITS LETTER NO. CA/ 5/ACADEMIC-NATA/DATED 20-03-2008) conducted by the Council of Architecture. The candidates should submit the photocopy of the NATA SCORE CARD along with 12th std. marks card by mentioning the CET number on or before 18-05-2010 to KEA either in person or through 'Speed Post'.

Based on the performance of the candidates in both Qualifying Examination and NATA, by taking the marks in equal proportions the Architecture rank list will be prepared and published. NOTE : Candidates who do not pass in all the subjects in the qualifying examination and candidates who do not possess the academic eligibility detailed above for various professional courses, will not be eligible for selection of seats in the respective courses.

WHAT IS NATA?
National Aptitude Test in Architecture or NATA is an All India level entrance examination conducted by the Council of Architecture for 200 marks, for admission of candidates to First year of five-year full time B. Arch. Degree course. The Architecture seats in Government, Aided and Un-aided institutions of the State are offered ONLY to the candidates who have appeared for NATA and who have obtained the prescribed minimum marks in both Qualifying Examination and NATA. Therefore, all the candidates who want to select Architecture seats, should compulsorily appear for NATA, and should obtain a minimum of 40% marks including SC, ST, Category-I and OBC category candidates in NATA (In other words one has to secure a minimum of 80 MARKS OUT OF 200). Visit website for LIST OF INSTITUTIONS CONDUCTING NATA (NATIONAL APTITUDE TEST IN ARCHITECTURE) IN KARNATAKA. The interested candidates can appear for the NATA, any day before 15-05-2010. Such candidates should obtain and submit their NATA scores along with the copy of the 2nd PU / 12 Std. Marks Card (by boldly writing their CET Number on the NATA score card) to the KEA either in person or only through Speed Post on or before 18-05-2010.

The SC / ST/Category-I / OBC eligibility criteria is applicable to persons of Karnataka origin who are claiming eligibility for Government seats under clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k) and (l) and the same is not applicable to clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), (i), (m) and (n) of Item - 6 of Chapter I. Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks but also a candidate who is appearing for the Q.E. and expecting the results is eligible to apply for the Common Entrance Test 2010. Students appearing for Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2010 need not submit their Q. E. marks card to the KEA, as it will be obtained directly from the Department of PUE. However, all other students who have passed 12th standard examination such as CBSE, CISCE, 10+2, from other boards (including J & K) and repeater students of 2nd PUC who have already passed before 2010 or who have appeared for annual 2010 must COMPULSORILY send a photocopy of their 2nd PUC / 12th standard marks card (on which the CET Number is boldly written) either in person or only through Speed Post to the KEA, Bangalore, after completion of CET - 2010 on or before 11-05-2010. Otherwise, the results of such candidates will be withheld for want of Q. E. Marks. However, intermediary ranks / Spot ranks will be assigned in respect of with-held candidates only after submission of photocopy of the Q. E. marks card. See box at Page - 31 about intermediary ranks / Spot ranks / ranks ending with G55, etc. After the publication of the CET - 2010 results, the candidates whose Q. E. marks are changed due to revaluation / retotalling, should immediately produce the revised marks card / statement of marks obtained from the Department of PUE/ Other boards in person only, to the KEA for getting the new ranks, if any. NOTE: 1. The candidates are requested to verify their qualifying examination marks printed on the result sheets without fail, if there is any discrepancy with reference to qualifying examination marks the same should be brought to the notice of this office immediately for assignment of fresh ranks. 2. The moment a new rank is assigned to candidates due to variation in Q. E. marks (whether increase or decrease), the previous rank of such candidates will stand cancelled and the candidates will not have any claim either on the previous rank or on the seat selected on the basis of previous rank, if any. Such candidates should select seats only as per their new ranks from among the seats available at that moment.

4. HOW TO FILL THE APPLICATION FORM?


The application form, which is common to all the candidates for admission to professional courses through KEA, is kept in this brochure. The candidates should fill the application form legibly using a BLUE or BLACK INK BALL POINT PEN in capital letters only. Before filling the original application form, the candidates are advised to take two or three photocopies of the original application form and practice on them in the prescribed manner. The application form is a combination of both ICR and OMR concept. Candidates are required to fill the application form using blue or black ballpoint pen and also for few items candidates are required to fill and shade the respective circles of item. For the benefit of the candidates, item-wise instructions are given against each item regarding writing the item and writing and shading the items. Wherever CODES are given, fill the boxes in the application form with the appropriate codes only: PLEASE NOTE : The filled application form submitted by the candidates will be scanned as it is. The details in the application form will be the candidate's data for all further processing in the KEA computers. Therefore, the candidates are advised not to make any stray marks on the application form and not to enclose any documents / papers in support of their claims to the filled application form. IMPORTANT : IF ANY OF THE INFORMATION FURNISHED IN THE APPLICATION FORM IS FOUND TO BE FALSE / INCORRECT, THE APPLICATION IS LIABLE TO BE REJECTED AT ANY POINT OF TIME and the seat selected by the candidate, if any, is also liable to be cancelled at any stage and the entire fee amount paid by such candidate shall be forfeited. Name of the Candidate : Write your name as it is in the 2nd PUC or 12th Standard records. There should be no variation in the form or spelling. NOTE : All the candidates claiming reservation benefits should produce original Caste / Caste Income certificate at the time of seat selection process. The Caste / Category and the income in the caste certificate should be the same as Caste / Category and Income mentioned in the application form. Otherwise, such candidates will not be allowed to select seats under the reserved categories and will be treated on par with a General Merit candidate, if they fulfill the General Merit eligibility criteria. 5. Note : The candidates appearing for ANNUAL examination during 2010 should only write the CODE of the qualifying examination. The candidates who have already passed their qualifying examination before 2010 and the candidates who are appearing for Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2010 as REPEATERS need not write any code in the box. 13. Eligibility clause code : Read all the Eligibility clauses detailed in Item - 6 of Chapter - I of the brochure from (a) to (n) and write the appropriate eligibility CLAUSE CODE in the box provided and also shade the respective circles. 14. Candidates Photograph : Paste a RECENT passport size photograph within the space provided on the application form USING GUM. The photograph should not cover the signature area below it. Do not staple or pin the photograph, as the scanner will reject the stapled photographs. Do not paste old photographs on the application form. IMPORTANT : If the photograph affixed on the application form does not match with the actual candidate present during examination, he / she will not be allowed to write the test. Also, if the photograph does not tally with the actual candidate present during seat selection, he / she will not be permitted to select the seat. 18. Are you an INDIAN National? The seat selection will be conducted in Shimoga, Mangalore apart from Hubli, Gulbarga and Bangalore. However, other candidates can appear for seat selection in any of the places as per their ranking and as per the schedule. 23. 24. Study Details : All the candidates should write their academic study details between 1st and 12th Standards in the box provided. They are required to write full name and address of the institutions studied and the respective telephone numbers with STD codes, the academic years of study and the year of passing. 25. Appearance in the previous Common Entrance Tests : If you have appeared for the Common Entrance Tests conducted by KEA (CET Cell) and selected a seat during the previous years, then write the seat selection particulars such as Year of appearance, the CET number and the details of college and course selected, etc., in the box provided on the application form. NOTE : The candidates who have obtained a seat in the previous years in any discipline through KEA (CET Cell) will not be eligible to select a seat in the same discipline during this year. Such candidates who select seat in the other discipline will forfeit the seat already selected during the previous years. 26. Have you attended the Rural Coaching class for CET - 2010? If Yes, write the coaching center code and your identification number. After filling the application form, the candidates and parents should affix their COMPLETE signature in the respective places provided on backside of the application form, along with date. The candidate should not forget to sign on both the places on the application form i.e., below the photograph on the front side and below the declaration on the backside of the application form. IMPORTANT : The candidates are required to compulsorily affix their LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION using a BLUE ink pad within the space provided on the backside of the application form, in the following prescribed method. The application forms without thumb impression will not be scanned and the admission tickets will not be sent to such candidates. PRESCRIBED METHOD OF AFFIXING LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION All the candidates should preserve a photocopy of their filled application form, before submitting the same to the respective Principals / KEA.

5. WHERE TO SUBMIT THE FILLED APPLICATION FORM?


The candidates who have received the brochure cum application forms through their schools or colleges should submit their filled applications to the respective schools or colleges. The Principals of all the schools and colleges in Karnataka teaching 2nd PUC or 12th standard including CBSE & CISCE, have been requested to collect the filled application forms from the students of their respective institutions by verifying whether the candidate has written his / her correct 2nd PU register number, PU Student number, etc. along with proper affixation of the candidate LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION and also to forward the filled application forms to the KEA. The last date for submission of filled application forms to the concerned Principals will be 17-03-2010. Candidates who have submitted their filled applications through the schools and colleges should collect their Admission Tickets from the respective schools and colleges on or after 18-04-2010 and the candidates who fail to get their admission ticket, should immediately contact their respective Principals with the photocopy of their filled application form. The Karnataka candidates residing outside Karnataka (Including Horanadu, Gadinadu and other Karnataka candidates) who have received their brochure cum application form through Speed Post should also send the filled application forms by Speed Post only directly to KEA on or before 20-03-2010 and such candidates will get their admission tickets to their home addresses as furnished by them in their application forms, by Speed Post on or after 18-04-2010. The candidates who have submitted their filled application forms by Speed Post directly to KEA, who fail to get the admission ticket well within the notified date should immediately contact the Executive Director, KEA, along with a photocopy of their filled application form and the Speed Post acknowledgement for having sent the application form to KEA. Otherwise, admission tickets will not be issued to such candidates and they will not be allowed to write the test. NOTE : 1.In order to avoid any complications, the candidates who are sending the filled application forms directly to KEA are advised to write their complete postal address clearly (legibly) in their application forms and should send their filled application forms individually, through Speed Post only and not in person or by any other mode such as Ordinary Post / Registered Post / Private Courier. 2.Kannada Language Test will be conducted for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga Candidates on 30-04-2010 in the premises of KEA, at 18th Cross, Sampige Road, Malleshwaram, Bangalore - 560 012. No separate admission ticket will be issued for Kannada Language Test.

ASSIGNMENT OF EXAM CENTRES


The examination center for writing CET 2010 in respect of all the candidates will be assigned on random basis by the KEA Computers. The candidates who have studied their Q. E. within Karnataka should write the CET 2010 in a place within the district in which they have studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard. If the CET 2010 exam centers are located in more than one place in a district, the candidate can choose any one of the places. For example: If the candidates have studied their 2nd PUC / 12th standard in Mysore or any place in the Mysore district, then they have to write CET only in MYSORE. If they have studied in Hospet, then they can write CET either in HOSPET or in BELLARY. The Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates claiming eligibility under clauses c and d of Item 6 of Chapter I respectively, will have to undergo a Kannada language test, which will be held on 30-04-2010 at 11.00 a. m. for Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates and at 1.00 p.m. on the same day for Horanadu Kannadiga candidates in the premises of KEA, Bangalore. Therefore, the Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates will have to appear for the CET 2010 in an examination centre located at BANGALORE only.

6. ELIGIBILITY FOR GOVERNMENT SEATS


Candidates who satisfy one of the following Clauses / Eligibility Criteria ONLY are eligible for selection of Government seats in Government, Aided, Private Un-aided Minority / Non-minority institutions through KEA. Each condition is specified as a clause and is individually referred by a code. The documents to be produced during seat selection process in support of the claim for each of the Clauses are also detailed below the respective clauses. The candidates who do not satisfy any of the Clauses / Eligibility Criteria detailed below and the candidates who do not produce the prescribed documents in original will not be eligible for admission to professional courses under Government quota seats.

ELIGIBILITY CLAUSES

CODES

The candidate should have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognised educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN academic years commencing from 1st standard to 2nd PUC / 12th standard as on 1st July of the year in which the Entrance Test is held and must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from Karnataka State. In case of the candidate who had taken more than one year to pass a class or standard, the years of academic study is counted as one year only. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card, 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate, Candidates Study Certificate; If claiming Rural quota: - Rural Study Certificate; If claiming Kannada Medium quota: Kannada Medium Study Certificate; If claiming reservation benefits: Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form F.

The candidate should have studied and passed both 1st and 2nd year Pre-University Examination or 11th and 12th standard examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government and that either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN years. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card, 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate; If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F., along with - (1) a certificate for either of the parent having studied for at least 7 years in Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where he / she had studied.(2) the candidates study certificate for having studied both 1st & 2nd PUC or 11th & 12th standard in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution.

The candidate and either of his / her parents mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu or Kodava and either of parents was domiciled in the state of Karnataka, such candidate should have passed the qualifying examination from a University or Board or any other Institution located outside Karnataka and should be residing outside the State of Karnataka as on 1st May of 2010. Provided that the candidate shall undergo a Kannada Language test conducted by KEA.

Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with (1) a domicile certificate issued by the concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the candidate and his father have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on 01-05-2010. The place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the candidate / father / mother. (2) a domicile certificate issued by concerned Revenue Authorities of the state of Karnataka regarding the previous domicile of the father / mother of the candidate as a place in the state of Karnataka. The place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the father / mother.(3) Candidates Study certificate, Transfer Certificate. (4) Father / mother 10th standard marks card / original cumulative record in original in support of mother tongue as Kannada / Tulu / Kodava. (5) A duly sworn declaration regarding mother tongue of the candidates. Candidates should produce the photocopies of all the above documents compulsorily when they appear for Kannada Language Test on 30-04-2010, failing which, ranks will not be assigned. 19

A candidate whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava should have resided and studied for a period of SEVEN YEARS between 1st and 12th standards in disputed Kannada speaking area of South Sholapur or Akkalkot or Jath or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod or Hosadurga Taluks of Kerala State. Provided that the candidate shall undergo a Kannada Language test conducted by KEA. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with (1) a residential certificate from the concerned Tahsildar of the respective disputed Taluk. (2) candidates study certificate issued by the head of institution, which should be countersigned by Taluk Education Officer. (3) a duly sworn declaration regarding mother tongue of the candidates. Candidate should produce the photocopies of all the above documents compulsorily when they appear for Kannada Language Test on 3004-2010, failing which, ranks will not be assigned.

NOTE : The candidates claiming eligibility under Clauses c and d above, should invariably speak, read and write Kannada. Otherwise, they will not be assigned ranks. In the case of a candidate who is son or daughter of defence personnel who has worked continuously in Karnataka for a minimum period of one year between 1st July of 2009 to 30th June of 2010. The candidate should have studied and passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Government recognised educational institution located in the State of Karnataka. Documents to be produced: SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with (1) the candidates study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution. (2) employment certificate of the parent issued by the Controlling Office where the parent is working indicating the period during which he has worked in the State of Karnataka i.e., from the reporting date to till date.

Son or daughter of serving Defence personnel from Karnataka who at the time of joining the Defence service had declared his / her hometown a place in the State of Karnataka. Proof of such domicile should be obtained and produced by obtaining the extract from the Record Office of the Defence unit. Further, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate; If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar as per the prescribed format given in the brochure along with parents home town declaration certificate while joining the service issued by Record Office of the Defence unit.

In the case of a candidate who is a son or daughter of a defence personnel who had served in Karnataka for at least one year and is posted on duty in Field / Active Service and whose family is permitted by Defence Authorities to continue to stay in Karnataka. Such candidate should have studied and passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Government recognised educational institution located in Karnataka. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with (1) the candidates study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution. (2) service certificate of the parent issued by the Controlling Office indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka and a certificate showing the present place of posting, indicating that his family is permitted to stay in Karnataka. The present working place of the parent should be indicated in NAME and not by CODE NUMBERS.

Son or daughter of an ex-servicemen who at the time of joining the defence service had declared a place in Karnataka as his home town, proof of such domicile should be obtained and produced from the Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement. Further, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate; If claiming reservation benefits :- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F, along with the parents home town declaration certificate while joining the service issued by the Joint Director / Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore.

In the case of a candidate being a son or daughter of an employee of the Union Government or an employee of the Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking, who is liable to be transferred anywhere in India as per the terms and conditions of his employment and has worked in Karnataka for a minimum period of one year from 1st July of 2009 to 30th June of 2010 and such candidate has studied and passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Government recognised educational institution located in the State of Karnataka. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with (1) the candidates study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution. (2) a certificate from the employer indicating the parents period of employment in the State of Karnataka and also showing that he is transferable anywhere in India.

Son or daughter of a working or retired employee of the Union Government or employee of Union or Karnataka State Government undertaking or Joint Sector undertaking where such employee; (a) had declared to the employer at the time of joining service any place in Karnataka to be his home town; and (b) had studied in any Government or Government recognised educational institution or institutions located in Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years; and was or is liable to be transferred anywhere in India as per the terms and conditions of his employment. Further, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate; If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F, along with (1) a certificate of the parent employee for having studied for at least 7 years in the State of Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where he / she had studied. (2) home town declaration certificate of the parent employee while joining the service and showing that he is transferable anywhere in India issued by the employer.

Son or daughter of Members of Parliament elected from Karnataka. Further, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate; If claiming reservation benefits :- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F, along with a certificate showing that the parent is / was a Member of Parliament elected from Karnataka issued by the Parliament Secretariat.

Son or daughter of serving or retired employee: (a) belonging to All India Service of Karnataka cadre; and (b) of the Karnataka State Government, who has served or is serving outside the State of Karnataka during the period corresponding to Candidates study outside the State from 1st standard to 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination can be added to make up the seven years study within Karnataka as required under clause (a) above. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate ; If claiming reservation benefits :- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F, along with - a certificate from the Principal Secretary / Deputy Secretary / Under Secretary, DPAR, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore where the parent belongs to All India Service of Karnataka cadre stating that the parent is a member of such All India Cadre. The certificate should also indicate the period during which he has served or is serving outside the state of Karnataka and if the parent is a State Government Employee, a certificate from the concerned Head of the Department or the Head of the Office where such parent is employed should be produced in this regard.

Son or daughter of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants, proof of such migration (IDENTITY CARD) should be obtained and produced from the jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India. Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with a original certificate (IDENTITY CARD) issued by the Jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India, as the proof of migration. The candidates who are claiming eligibility under clause m are eligible only for the seats earmarked by the Government. 21

The candidates who have studied TEN full academic years in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard in places outside the state of Karnataka. Such candidates need not appear for Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA. Provided the candidate should have studied and passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Government recognised educational institution. Documents to be produced: SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with (1) a domicile certificate issued by the concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the candidate and his father / mother have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on 01-05-2010. The place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the candidate / father / mother. (2) Candidates Study certificate, for having studied in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard issued by the head of the institution.

NOTE: In case, if any of the documents produced in respect of the Clause claimed by the candidate is found to be false / incorrect, the seat selected by the candidate will be cancelled at any stage and the entire fee amount paid by such candidate will be forfeited.

7. RESERVATION OF SEATS IN FAVOUR OF CERTAIN CATEGORIES


(1) RESERVATION OF SEATS IN FAVOUR OF SPECIAL CATEGORY CANDIDATES (a) Reservation for N. C. C. Special category: (I) Candidates who have participated in Republic Day Camp conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess B Certificate obtained during the five year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards; or (ii) Candidates who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess B Certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely; (a)All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys) - TSC (B); (b) All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls) - TSC (G) ;(c) All India Nau Sainik Camp - NSC; (d) All India Vayu Sainik Camp VSC; (e) Cadets who have been finally selected as a part of DG NCC team to participate in All India Movalankar Shooting Championship at National Level AND Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC. (iii) Candidates who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess B Certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely; (a) All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys) - TSC (B); (b) All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls) - TSC (G) ; (c) All India Nau Sainik Camp - NSC ; (d) All India Vayu Sainik Camp VSC; (e) Cadets participate in All India Movalankar Shooting Championship as a part of KAR and GOA Director Team. AND in complete - Mountaineering Expeditions (over 5900 Mtrs), Sailing Expeditions using wind power only (401 KMs), Motor Cycle Expeditions (more than 3500 KMs) and Cycling Expeditions (more than 1500 KMs), organised by DG, NCC / NCC Director of Karnataka & Goa. (iv) Candidates who have participated in the following camps / courses conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess B Certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely: (a) NIC ; (b) Trekking ; (c) Mountaineering ; (d) BLC ; (e) ALC ; (f) RCTC and (g) Army, Navy, Air Force & Hospital Attachments. (v) Candidates who possess B certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th Standards. Provided that for selection of a reserved seat under NCC category, the preferential criteria are as follows:

Preference 1 : Candidates possessing B Certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in the Republic Day camp. Preference 2 : Candidates possessing B certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub-clause (ii) above. Preference 3 : B certificate holders who have participated in the Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC. Preference 4 : B certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the Republic Day camp. Preference 5 : B Certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub-clause (iii) above. Preference 6 : B Certificate holders who have participated in the mountaineering / sailing / motorcycle / cycling expeditions organized by DG NCC / NCC Directorate of KAR and GOA. Preference 7 : B Certificate holders who have participated in the camps mentioned at sub clause (iv) para above. Preference 8 : Candidates possessing ONLY B Certificate. (NCC candidates possessing only B certificate (PREFERENCE-8) need not submit their original B certificate on the notified date i.e., on 03-05-2010. However, they will be eligible to select the NCC special category seats, if any, in the general round seat selection as per their merit order, upon production of NCC B certificate) Provided that while considering the candidates mentioned in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) above, gold medal winners will be preferred to silver medallist who in turn will be preferred to bronze medallist under the respective subclauses. Provided further that the Director of NCC or his authorised nominee shall be present in the KEA on the appointed days (04-06-2010 and 05-06-2010) along with the list of eligible NCC candidates in the order of preference i.e. 1 to 7 to assist in the selection of candidates under NCC special category. NOTE : 1. Candidates who claim under PREFERENCES from 1 to 7 above should compulsorily submit their NCC certificates on 03-05-2010, failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later seat selection under NCC. Further, the NCC candidates possessing only B certificate (PREFERENCE 8) need not submit their original B certificate on the notified date i.e., on 03-05-2010. However, they will be eligible to select the NCC special category seats, if any, in thegeneral round seat selection as per their merit order, upon production of NCC B certificate. 2. Candidates should also submit a letter obtained from the head of the institution from where he / she has participated in various NCC camps during the study between 8th and 12th standards, as per the format given in Appendix V. (b) Reservation for Sports Special category:(i) Candidates who have represented the country and won medals / cups in SUPER-A Games specified in Appendix - IV during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards; (ii) Candidates who have represented the country and won medals / cups in A Games specified in Appendix - IV during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards; (iii) Candidates who have won medals / cups in B-Games specified in Appendix - IV by representing Karnataka State and participated in the SUPER-A Games or A-Games specified in Appendix - IV during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards; (iv) Candidates who have represented Karnataka State in B-Games specified in Appendix - IV and won medals / cups during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards; (v) Candidates who have represented Karnataka State in any sports / games in B-Games specified in Appendix - IV during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards. Provided that for selection of a reserved seat in Sports category, the candidates who belong to sub-clause (i) shall be considered first; candidates who belong to sub-clause (ii) shall be considered second; candidates who belong to sub-clause (iii) shall be considered third and candidates who belong to sub-clause (iv) shall be considered fourth before considering the candidates belonging to sub-clause (v).

Provided further that, while considering the candidates mentioned in sub-clauses (I), (ii), (iii) and (iv), gold medal winners will be preferred to silver medallists who in turn will be preferred to bronze medallists under the respective sub-clauses, irrespective of the number of medals. Provided further that the candidates belonging to sub-clause (v) i. e., only who have represented the Karnataka State shall be eligible to select the Sports special category seats, if any, only in the general round of seat selection process as per their merit order. Further, they need not attend the Sports Special category seat selection on 08-06-2009. Provided also that the Commissioner for Youth Services and Sports or his authorised nominee shall be present in the KEA on the appointed days (07-06-2010 and 08-06-2010) along with the list of eligible candidates to assist in the selection of candidates under Sports category. The Commissioner for Youth Services and Sports or his authorized nominee is the final authority to decide the candidates eligibility under Sports category. Further, KEA shall not be held responsible in this regard. NOTE : 1. Candidates who claim seats under SPORTS Special category should compulsorily submit their SPORTS certificates on 04-05-2010 including National Participants i.e., (1) (b) (v) above, failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later seat selection under SPORTS. 2. Candidates should also submit a letter obtained from the head of the institution from where he / she has participated in various SPORT events during the study from 8th to 12th standards, as per the format given in Appendix V. Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex-defence and Anglo-Indian i. e., sub-clauses (c), (d), (e) and (g) below, will be allowed to select the respective special category seats as per their merit order ONLY in the general admission round seat selection process along with the other general merit and reserved category candidates.

(c) Reservation for Scouts and Guides Special category:- Candidates who as Scouts / Guides have received the
Presidents Award during five-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards. Provided that the candidates shall submit the Original Presidents Award (Rashtrapati Certificate) ONLY on the day of general round of seat selection process as per their merit order. The Provisional Scouts / Guides Certificates will not be considered.

(d) Reservation for Defence Special category:- Son or daughter of Defence Personnel falling under Clauses (e), (f)
and (g) of Item 6 of Chapter - I of the Brochure should obtain and submit the Defence certificates in the prescribed format as given in Appendix IV on 05-05-2010, failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later seat selection under Defence. Defence personnel for the purpose of these clauses means a person in Defence Service including Personnel belonging to Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class III or Class IV Government servants and Border Roads Organisational Personnel. (Vide Notification No. ED 189 TGL 94 Bangalore dated 29-07-1994). (a) Candidates claiming eligibility under Clause (e) of Item 6 of Chapter I of this brochure should produce the certificate of employment issued by the Controlling Office in the prescribed format as given in Appendix V where the parent is working, Indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka. (b) Candidates claiming eligibility under Clause (f) of Item 6 of Chapter I of this brochure should produce a certificate from the Record Office of the Defence Unit in the prescribed format as given in AppendixV indicating that the parent had declared a place in Karnataka as his hometown at the time of joining the service. (c) Candidates claiming eligibility under Clause (g) of Item 6 of Chapter I of this brochure should produce a certificate from the Controlling Office in the prescribed format as given in Appendix V indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka, the present place of posting and also the fact that his family is permitted to stay in Karnataka. 24

NOTE : The candidates claiming eligibility under the sub-clauses (a) and (c) above, should also produce the study certificate issued by the head of the educational institution for having studied and passed qualifying examination in the State of Karnataka, when they come for seat selection process. (e) Reservation for Ex-Defence Special category:- Son or daughter of Ex-Servicemen falling under Item 6(h) of Chapter - I of the Brochure should obtain and produce a certificate showing the home address of the parent issued by the Joint Director / Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore on 06-05-2010, failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later seat selection under Ex-Defence. Ex-Servicemen for the purpose of this clause includes personnel belonging to the Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class III or Class IV Government Servants, who became permanently disabled or were killed during hostilities. (f) Reservation for Physically Disabled Special category:- The candidates claiming reservation under this category will be required to appear for Medical examination on 02-06-2010 before a Committee comprising of the Executive Director, KEA as Chairman and three specialists from the Department of Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and ENT, nominated by the Government. Candidates with physical disability ranging above 40% should produce a Medical certificate issued by competent Doctor of any Government Hospital located in the State of Karnataka in the field of concerned disability, only on the day of Medical examination i.e., on 02-06-2010. Candidates suffering from hearing disability should compulsorily obtain and produce a BSER (Brain Stem Evoked Response) Audiometry report from NIMHANS / Manipal Hospital / Government Speech and Hearing Institute, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore. The Medical Board will examine the candidate and certificate and certify regarding the percentage of disability and the decision of the Medical Board is final. For the purpose of this proviso, persons with disability shall have the same meaning assigned to it, in the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Participation) Act 1995 (Central Act 1 / 1995). The candidates with disability less than 40% will not be eligible for claiming a seat under Physically Disabled category. The seat selection to the eligible candidates will be held on 03-06-2010. NOTE: The Physically Disabled candidates, who fail to appear before the Committee for Medical examination on 02-06-2010, will not be eligible for selection of a seat under Physically Disabled category. (g) Reservation for Anglo-Indian Special category:- Candidates from Anglo-Indian Community should produce a certificate on 06-05-2010 issued by the Registered Association of the Anglo Indian Community in the State of Karnataka countersigned by the Anglo-Indian MLA Nominated by the Government, failing which they will not be allowed for the later seat selection under Anglo-Indian. IMPORTANT : The Special category candidates who satisfy Clause (a) of Item 6 of Chapter - I of the brochure, will also be eligible for claiming a seat under the respective Special categories. 1. Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex-defence and Anglo-Indian i. e., subNOTE : clauses (c), (d), (e) and (g) above, will be allowed to select the respective special category seats as per their merit order ONLY in the general admission round seat selection process along with the other general merit and reserved category candidates. 2. Candidates who are having only B certificate under NCC will be eligible to select the NCC special category seats, if any, in the general round of seat selection along with the other General Merit and reserved category candidates as per their merit order. 3. Candidates who have only represented the Karnataka State in B GAMES under Sports, will be eligible to select the Sports special category seats, if any, in the general round of seat selection along with the other General Merit and reserved category candidates as per their merit order. 4. Achievements made by the NCC / Sports special category candidates in the events / games, till the date of CET 2010 will be considered for selection of seats in the respective categories.

(2) RESERVATION FOR RESERVED CATEGORY CANDIDATES Reservation is made in favour of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes of citizens under categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in accordance with Government Order No. SWL 251 BCA 94 dated 31st January 1995, as amended from time to time. Production of a Caste Certificate / Caste Income Certificate issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar in accordance with the Government order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2002 dated 30th March 2002, as amended from time to time, in Form D in case of Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes; in Form E in case of Category-I; in Form F in case of Other Backward Classes like 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in support of the claim is mandatory for selecting a seat under reserved category. (Annexure-II to this rule is reproduced at Appendix-VIII for the information of the candidates and parents) Provided that candidates belonging to SC, ST & Category - I should produce an Income certificate issued by Jurisdictional Tahasildar in the prescribed format given at Appendix V. (This is for the purpose of processing eligibility of candidates to claim Government of India scholarship). Provided further that only candidates of Karnataka origin and who are claiming eligibility for Government seats in accordance with clause (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k) and (l) of Item - 6 of Chapter I shall be eligible to claim the benefit of reservation under this sub-rule. The candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), (i) (m) and (n) are not eligible to claim the benefit of reservation. (3) RESERVATION FOR RURAL CANDIDATES 15% of the Government seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of rural candidates who have studied for 10 full academic years from 1st Standard to 10th Standard in educational institutions situated in places in the State of Karnataka other than larger urban area, smaller urban area or transitional area as mentioned in Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 or Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 in accordance with the Government Order No. ED 01 TEC 2002, Bangalore, dated 01-02-2002 and the eligibility criteria shall be as defined in the Karnataka Reservation of Appointments of Posts in the Civil services of the State for Rural Candidates Act, 2000 (Karnataka Act 1 of 2001). The candidates whose parents do not come under the creamy layer and the candidates who have studied TEN full academic years from 1st Standard to 10th Standard in places other than the places mentioned in Appendix III will be eligible for claiming the benefit of Rural reservations. However, if the candidates have studied in these places from 1st to 10th standard before the date of notification as urban area, such candidates are eligible to claim rural reservation benefit. (4) RESERVATION FOR KANNADA MEDIUM CANDIDATES 5% of the Government seats will be reserved in favour of the Kannada medium candidates who have studied TEN full academic years in Kannada medium from 1st Standard to 10th Standard, in accordance with the Government Order No. ED 118 UEC 2000, Bangalore dated 04-06-2000 and as amended vide Government Order No. ED 02 UEC 2002, Bangalore dated 14-10-2005. (5) RESERVATION FOR WARD OF JAMMU & KASHMIRI MIGRANTS Reservation is made in favour of the son / daughter of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants, who satisfy the eligibility condition for Government seats in accordance with clause (m) of Item 6 of Chapter I of the brochure i.e., One seat each in all the Government Medical and Dental Colleges of the state AND One seat each in Engineering colleges, irrespective of course. The interse merit determined under Rule - 7 (Please see Item - 4 of Chapter - II) will remain the same for the purpose of eligibility and benefit of reservation under Item - 8 of Chapter - I. If any seat reserved in favour of candidates belonging to any of the categories referred to from (1) to (4) above is not filled up due to nonavailability of eligible candidates belonging to such categories, the reservation to that extent will stand reduced and will be transferred to the General Merit category during Casual vacancy round seat selection.

CHAPTER II MORE ABOUT THE WRITTEN TEST


1. SYLLABUS
The question papers of the Common Entrance Test will be mostly based on the First and Second PUC syllabi prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.

2. DURATION, QUESTION PAPER AND OMR ANSWER SHEETS


The Common Entrance Test will be held in TWO days in FOUR different sessions for four subjects. On the first day, test will be conducted for Biology and Mathematics subjects in two sessions and on the next day test will be conducted for Physics and Chemistry subjects in two sessions as per the date and time given at page 10. Each paper will be conducted for 60 marks each with 80 minutes duration. Each question paper will be of (Objective) Multiple Choice type. The question paper in each subject will be in 16 different versions and each question will have four different options. Each question will carry ONE mark. The candidate is expected to attempt all the questions, in order to obtain maximum marks. In other words, there is no choice among questions. THERE WILL BE NO NEGATIVE EVALUATION WITH REGARD TO WRONG ANSWERS BUT MARKS WILL NOT BE AWARDED IN RESPECT OF MULTIPLE ANSWERS. The version code of the question paper will be boldly printed on facing sheet of the question paper. The version codes used in each paper will be from A - 1 to A - 4, B - 1 to B - 4, C - 1 to C - 4 and D - 1 to D - 4. The version code of the question papers given to a student may be different OR may be the same for different sessions. COMPULSORY: In all the four sessions, initial TEN minutes will be given for the candidates to write / shade the particulars such as Name, CET Number, Version Code and Serial number of the question booklet on the OMR answer sheets in the boxes provided. The candidates who do not write / shade the correct CET Number and Version Code on the OMR answer sheets, such candidates OMR answer sheets will not be scanned and will not be assigned any rank. The candidates will have to mark correct options on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) answer sheet, which will be supplied at the beginning of each session of the test. Among the answers provided against a question, only one answer will be correct. The candidate should mark the correct answer by completely shading only one circle against a question number, using BLUE or BLACK ink ball point pen. A specimen of the OMR answer sheets is supplied along with the brochure. More details about precautions to be taken while filling the particulars on OMR answer sheets is given at Page 26. The OMR answer sheet comprises of two sheets. The top sheet will be used for the purpose of marking correct answers and later scanning & evaluation and the bottom sheet will be returned to the candidates after completion of each session of the test. The bottom sheet is coated with a special kind of chemical which acts as Carbon. When the candidate fills the circles on the top sheet, the pressure on the bottom sheet will automatically create a replica of the top sheet. The candidates are required to COMPULSORILY AFFIX THEIR LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION in the space provided on the bottom portion of the OMR answer sheet (top sheet) with the ink-pad provided by the room Invigilator, after completion of each session of the test. However, they need not affix their thumb impression on the replica (bottom sheet) of the OMR answer sheet. Thereafter, the invigilators will detach the bottom sheet from the top sheet at the perforations and hand over the bottom sheet replica to the candidates and candidates are allowed to carry the same with them. The top sheet will be retained by the invigilator for returning the same to the Deputy Chief Superintendent of the examination center and in turn to KEA. NOTE : The OMR answer sheets in respect of all the candidates who have affixed their left hand thumb impression will only be scanned and the results in respect of such candidates will be published. The OMR answer sheets in respect of candidates who have not affixed their left hand thumb impression, for any reason, will not be scanned. Also, the results in respect of such candidates will not be published.

Optical Mark Reader sheets as Answer Sheets A model of the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheets that will be used for marking the answers by the candidates is supplied along with the brochure. The need for the replica has compelled us to design OMR sheet in such a way that all the information and the answers are marked only on one side. The top portion of the sheet is meant for furnishing the particulars about the candidates such as the Name, CET Number, Version code and serial number of the question booklet. The bottom portion is meant for marking the answers, affixing the signature of the room Invigilator & candidates and also for affixing the Left Hand Thumb Impression of the candidate. The space meant for the subject would have been pre-marked. The square blocks in each item should be filled by the candidate in capital letters and numbers. The circles corresponding to the letters or numbers are meant to be completely shaded using blue or black ink ballpoint pen only.

Why Ball Point Pen?


Remember, we are allowing the candidates to carry home a replica or facsimile of the OMR answer sheet and the OMR answer paper comes in a set of two sheets. When you shade the top sheet, the pressure will create a dark mark on the bottom sheet on the corresponding circle. If a pen with a nib is used, the pressure on the top sheet will not be sufficient to activate the chemical on the bottom sheet. On the other hand, a ballpoint pen exerts sufficient pressure to convert the bottom sheet chemical into a dark spot. That is why we want you to use a blue / black ink ballpoint pen only.

3. SPECIMEN OF THE OMR ANSWER SHEET


Specimen copy of the OMR answer sheet is enclosed with this brochure for the benefit of the candidates. By using blue or black ink ballpoint, candidates can practice with the OMR answer sheet with regard to filling and shading of the required items. Please study the specimen OMR answer sheet and familiarize yourself. Take four to five photocopies of the specimen OMR sheet and practice on them at home. By doing so, you will be very accurate in writing and shading the particulars such as Name, CET Number, Question booklet version code, etc., in the required manner on the Original OMR answer sheets, during actual conduct of the test. Important precautions to be taken while writing / shading Top portion of OMR answer sheet The initial TEN minutes will be given to a candidate, for writing / shading the particulars on the top portion of the OMR answer sheet, wherein the candidates are required to write their Name within the boxes, write their CET Number in the boxes and shade the respective circles, write the Question booklet version code in the boxes and shade the respective circle in the required manner. The candidates are also required to write the Question booklet serial number and the Register number of 2nd PUC / 12th standard within the boxes (in case if the candidate is appearing for Annual examinations during 2010). Of the five items, entries pertaining to Name, CET Number and Question booklet Version code are very crucial ones. Therefore, candidates are advised to take extra precaution while writing and shading these three items accurately on the top portion of the OMR answer sheet.

Important precautions to be taken while shading answers on bottom portion of OMR Answer sheet After the initial TEN minutes 70 minutes will be given to a candidate for shading the answers on the bottom portion of the OMR answer sheet. On the bottom portion, there will be 60 rows corresponding to 60 questions. Against each question number, four circles will be provided corresponding to four options of the question paper. The candidates are required to shade only one circle corresponding to the correct answer. The scanner is so sensitive to black and blue ink shades that even a slight residual ink mark or an unintended ink dot within a circle on the OMR answer sheet will be taken by it, as filled / shaded, at the time of scanning. Consequently, the candidate may lose marks. Therefore, please do not make any stray pen marks on the OMR answer sheets. As the scoring done by the scanner and the computer in tandem is final, a plea for erasing or neglecting the ink mark on a circle cannot be entertained. Therefore, candidates are advised to take extra precaution while shading the circles on the bottom portion. THINK BEFORE YOU INK !
Once you darken a circle, there is no way to erase or to remove it. That way, your decision about a correct answer will be final. The invigilator will not permit you to use marker, white fluid or any other devise to hide the shading already done and you will not be supplied with one more set of OMR sheet. If you spoil a sheet in your attempt to rub off the shading done on a circle, you may ruin your opportunities. If two circles are shaded in a row and even if one of the circles is partially rubbed off, the scanner will take it as a multiple attempt. Therefore, think twice before you shade a circle with ink. Darken only one circle for each question as shown against the CORRECT METHOD.

The candidates should invariably preserve their CET 2010 OMR answer sheet replicas of all the subjects for a minimum period of one year from the date of obtaining the admission order.

4. DETERMINATION OF MERIT AND PUBLICATION OF MERIT LISTS


(A) DETERMINATION OF MERIT: The merit of the candidates who appear for the Common Entrance Test2010 will be determined are detailed below: (1) In the case of Medical and Dental Courses, the merit will be determined only on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects taken together in the Common Entrance Test 2010. (2) In the case of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy Courses, the merit will be determined on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects in Common Entrance Test 2010 and the marks obtained by candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Qualifying Examination, taken in equal proportions. (3) In the case of Engineering and Technology courses, the merit will be determined on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics subjects in Common Entrance Test2010 and the marks obtained by candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in the Qualifying Examination, taken in equal proportions.

Provided that where the merit of two or more candidates is the same, the interse merit shall be determined with reference to the marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test in Biology in the case of Medical / Dental / Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses and in Mathematics in the case of Engineering / Technology courses and where the marks obtained in such cases are equal then the interse merit shall be determined on the basis of the marks obtained in Chemistry in the case of Medical / Dental / Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses and in Physics in the case of Engineering / Technology courses and where the marks obtained are equal again the interse merit shall be determined on the basis of the marks obtained in the respective subjects in the Qualifying examination as stipulated above and where marks obtained are equal again, the interse merit shall be determined on the basis of the age of the candidate, wherein the elder candidate will be considered before the younger. (4) In the case of Architecture Course, the merit will be determined on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the qualifying examination in all subjects and the marks obtained in NATA, taken in equal proportions. Provided that where the merit of two or more candidates is same, the interse merit shall be determined with reference to the marks obtained in NATA, where marks obtained in NATA are equal, then the interse merit shall be determined on the basis of marks obtained in Mathematics in the qualifying examination and where marks obtained in Mathematics are equal, the interse merit shall be determined on the basis of the age of the candidate, wherein the elder candidate will be considered before the younger. NOTE: If everything as specified in the provisions to sub-clauses referred to above from (1), (2), (3) and (4) are equal, then the interse merit will be determined by draw of lots. The determination of interse merit as detailed above for selection of Government seats will be the basis for the merit list of candidates claiming benefit of reservation under Admission Rules i. e., Item 8 of Chapter I of the brochure. (B) PUBLICATION OF MERIT LISTS : After the completion of the entrance test, the ANSWER KEY will be published on 06-05-2010 on the KEA Website: http://kea.kar.nic.in The candidates / parents / lecturers can file their objections, if any, addressed to the Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore on or before 11-05-2010 either in person or only through SPEED POST, with regard to any of the published answer Key, along with all supporting documents / justification. The objections received by the KEA will be placed before an Expert Committee, whose decision will be final for determination of the right answer key. The answer key approved by the Expert Committee will be applied during evaluation for determination of merit order. As per the merit determined by the KEA, the Medical / Dental, ISM & H, Engineering and Architecture ranks will be assigned to the eligible candidates. Separate result sheets showing the Medical / Dental, SM & H, Engineering and Architecture ranks will be published on 20-05-2010 in all the CET - 2010 exam centres and the same will also be made available on KEA Website http://kea.kar.nic.in (Provided that 12th standard result of CBSE / CISCE etc. announced before 14-05-2010) Separate merit lists in respect of the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants for the respective courses will also be prepared and published on the KEA Website. The correct answer key and the list of candidates whose results have been withheld and the reasons for withholding the results will also be published along with the results. The candidates whose results are with-held for want of 2nd PUC / 12th std. Marks and date of birth such candidates / parents need not to be worried because, ranks will be assigned as and when they submit the required documents on the specified dates during office hours. Result sheets will not be displayed in the KEA premises.

Candidates who have any objections in respect of any of the entries or problems in the result sheets, such as discrepancy / changes in the Q. E. marks, version code, NATA scores etc., except the marks secured in the Common Entrance Test, can submit their objections within three days from the date of publication of the CET - 2010 result and thereafter result will be published for such candidates. (See box item given below for details about intermediary ranks / Spot ranks i.e., ranks ending with G55, G44, G33 etc.) NOTE : 1. The candidates are requested to verify their qualifying examination marks printed on the result sheets without fail, if there is any discrepancy with reference to qualifying examination marks the same should be brought to the notice of this office immediately for fresh assignment of ranks, if any. 2. Candidates whose results will be withheld for want of qualifying examination marks should submit a photocopy of their Q. E. marks card either in person or through Speed Post to the KEA and the ranks in respect of such candidates will be published subsequently. Request for re-totaling or revaluation of the OMR answer sheets will not be entertained, as the valuation and the subsequent scoring will be error free.

What does G 55 mean?


After the declaration of the results, the candidates may not get ranks assigned mainly for the following reasons : 1) For want of Q. E. marks, a candidate might have missed the rank. 2) A candidate might have marked the version code wrongly. 3) Q. E. marks may get varied due to revaluation or other wise, when corrected, a fresh ranking becomes necessary. The KEA computers are programmed to assign new ranks or fresh ranks to the candidates falling within the above said categories without disturbing the rank numbers assigned to the candidates whose results were declared earlier. The computer program is such that it can assign ranks in between two integers without altering the previous rank numbers. Undoubtedly, you were assigned a rank after the declaration of the results. When a rank was assigned to you, rank 1234 and 1235 had been assigned to two other candidates. When it came to assigning a rank to you, the computer found that in the normal course, your rank would have been after the candidate with rank 1234 and before the candidate with rank 1235. Therefore, the computer had to place you between 1234 and 1235. As already said, the computer is programmed to generate large number of ranks between two integers by dividing the space alphabetically from A to Z. Then each alphabet is subdivided from 1 to 99. Now, if a new rank is required to be assigned between two integer ranks, in the first instance, the computer assigns a division number as G 55 before the previous rank. If one more rank needs to be assigned between the rank 1234 and 1234 G 55, the computer assigns a rank as 1234 G 44. If one more rank is to be assigned between 1234 G 55 and 1235, then it assigns a rank as 1234 G 66.

CHAPTER III
1. DOCUMENTS TO BE PRODUCED DURING SEAT SELECTION PROCESS
The original documents to be produced during seat selection process have been detailed separately in respect of Government seats in Item 6 of Chapter I below each of the Eligibility Clauses. Similarly, the original documents to be produced in respect of Special category seats are also detailed in Item 6(1) of Chapter I against each of the Special Categories. (A) Special category seats : Candidates claiming the benefit under various Special categories should produce the relevant original Special category certificates along with TWO sets of photocopies COMPULSORILY on the dates notified below, to the KEA IN PERSON ONLY DURING OFFICE HOURS. They should also produce three photocopies of their 'CET 2010' admission ticket. Candidates should not send their original special category documents / certificates through Post OR any other private arrangement. An acknowledgement slip will be issued for having received the special category certificates; this acknowledgement slip should be produced compulsorily during seat selection process.

(B) Government seats : Candidates who seek admission to Government seats should compulsorily produce the required documents in ORIGINAL with ONE set of attested photocopies of all the original documents and two passport size photographs along with the Demand Draft for the notified fees, for verification at the KEA at the time of registration for seat selection. After verification, only ONE set of attested photocopies of all the documents will be retained by the KEA and all original documents will be returned to the candidates. The documents to be produced for claiming Government seats are detailed clause wise, below the respective CLAUSES in Item 6 of Chapter I of this brochure. Explanation for some of the prominent documents is as follows :

PLEASE CONTACT CONCERNED SCHOOL FOR BEO / DDPI OFFICE ADDRESS. (The counter signature for 1st and 2nd PU study certificate is not required)

Study Certificate

NOTE : CBSE, CISCE, J & K candidates should produce the study certificate obtained from the Principal of their respective schools. Further, countersignature of BEO or DDPI is not required for them. The candidates who claim seat under rural category will have to obtain a rural study certificate from the respective school / high school issued by the head of the institution which should be countersigned by the concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO) as per format shown at page 52. General merit candidates who claims seat in rural category should also submit an income certificate issued from the concerned Tahasildar along with the rural study certificate as per format shown at page 52.

NOTE: The candidates whose parents come under creamy layer are not eligible to claim the benefit of rural reservation. Candidates claiming the benefit of Kannada Medium reservation should produce a certificate for having studied 10 full academic years in Kannada medium from 1st standard to 10th standard issued by the Head of the educational institution and such certificate should be got countersigned by the respective BEO or DDPI in the proforma prescribed at Appendix - V. Candidates seeking reservation benefit should produce a Caste Certificate in Form D in case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes; in Form E in case of Category -1; a Caste Income Certificate in Form F for Other Backward Classes such as 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar, in accordance with the Government order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2000 dated 30th March 2002, as amended from time to time. Annexure-II to this rule is reproduced at Appendix-VIII for the information of the candidates and parents. The candidates belonging to SC, ST and Category 1 of the Other backward classes should also produce a separate Income Certificate as per the prescribed format given at Page - 53 (This is for the purpose of processing eligibility of candidates to claim Government of India scholarship). *The candidates belonging to any category, who get engineering ranks up to 20000 in the CET - 2010 are eligible to select the engineering seats at Rs. 15,000 + other fee if their annual income is less than Rs. 2.00 Lakhs. Such candidates should produce the income certificate at the time of seat selection. These seats are spread over as practically as possible for all courses in the college in proportion to the number of candidates with in 20000 ranks divided by the total number of seats offered. For ex: during 2009-10 there were approximately 5000 candidates within the range of 20000 ranks and the total number of seats offered were approximately 36000. The total number of seats in each course is approximately 60, therefore the course wise seats available will be 5000 X 60 = 8.3 or 8 seats in each course 36000 The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates need not to pay any fees. The fee amount detailed above for different courses / categories should be paid by the candidates when they come for seat selection process in the form of a Demand Draft. Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of The Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, payable at Bangalore / Hubli / Gulbarga / Mangalore / Shimoga.

The candidates who like to attend the seat selection at Hubli should produce the demand draft for the prescribed fees payable at Hubli; the candidates who are attending the seat selection at Gulbarga should produce the demand draft payable at Gulbarga; the candidates who are attending the seat selection at Shimoga should produce the demand draft payable at Shimoga; the candidates who are attending the seat selection at Mangalore should produce the demand draft payable at Mangalore; and who are attending in Bangalore should produce the demand draft payable at Bangalore. The candidates should come prepared with the demand drafts for the fee detailed above before registering themselves for selection of a seat, failing which they will not be allowed to register and select any seat. Since, the Bank counter functioning at the seat selection premises will not issue the demand drafts, the candidates and parents are also advised not to bring the prescribed fee in the form of CASH / Cheque.

3. GOVERNMENT SEATS (SEAT MATRIX)


The KEA will receive the seat matrix from the Government before the commencement of Admission round seat selection process. Hence, an accurate number of seats to be offered for allotment as Government seats, college wise, category wise and course wise, cannot be made known at this stage. However, the percentage of seats falling to the share of Government for various Profession Courses for the year 2010-11 are detailed above for information. The seat matrix (Government seats) in respect of Medical, Dental, Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy, Engineering, Technology and Architecture courses, as notified by the Government will be published on the notice boards of the KEA and also on the KEA website http://kea.kar.nic.in before the commencement of seat selection process of the respective disciplines. For the benefit of candidates, full postal address and telephone / fax numbers of Professional colleges and the total number of Government share of seats offered by the KEA in these colleges for the academic year 2009-10 are given in Appendix VI. This is only for the information of the candidates and no inference shall be drawn either for number of seats or to the college for the academic year 2010-11

The candidates who are claiming eligibility under clauses (c), (d) and (m) of item 6 of ChapterI of brochure will have to attend the seat selection only in Bangalore. Category seat selection will not be held in Shimoga, Mangalore, Hubli and Gulbarga. 5. PROCEDURES FOLLOWED DURING THE SEAT SELECTION PROCESS


Seat selection process will be conducted in accordance with the schedule given in Appendix VII of this brochure. Therefore, all eligible rank holders must read Appendix VII and visit KEA website http://kea.kar.nic.in and should confirm the rank ranges, date and time of seat selection process for the respective disciplines before coming to the seat selection center. No individual intimation will be sent to the eligible rank holders regarding the date and time of seat selection process. In case, if the Government makes any changes in the schedule notified in Appendix VII of this brochure, a separate notification will be published in the leading news papers and also on the KEA website, indicating the revised schedule of seat selection process. Before coming for seat selection process, all eligible rank holders should make sure that they have kept the required original documents with one set of attested photocopies of all the documents and a photograph along with the Demand Draft for the fee prescribed by the Government for various courses. The entire seat selection activities in the KEA are controlled by a computer system right from the stage of registration till the stage of printing of admission orders. The highly sophisticated software used in the system has the ability on one side to control the initial registration, provide data for verification of the original documents and on the other side to take care of selection of seats by the candidates in the order of merit, online display of availability of seats, payment of fees and finally printing of admission orders. Once the candidate comes to the seat selection hall by registering and verifying the documents, the computer will not allow to jump the order of merit. Even if one had registered himself before another candidate with better merit, he will have to wait for his turn at the admission terminals. Unless a candidate who has better rank and whose CET number is registered gets the opportunity to select a seat, a candidate who has a rank next to him cannot think of by-passing him. Selection of seat by a candidate and admission thereafter at the KEA shall comprise of the following stages, wherein all the candidates will be allowed to select a seat of their choice strictly in the order of merit: (a) Registration of the candidate; (b) Verification of the original documents; (c) Selection of seats in accordance with merit order; (d) Remittance of Fees in the form of Demand Draft; (e) Issue of Admission Order. A day is divided into four sessions and the first session begins at 8.00 am. The candidates will be allowed to participate in accordance with the notified time schedule and as per the stipulated rank ranges only. The candidates are required to register their CET number in the computer system. From there, the candidates are sent to the Verification Counter where the entries of original documents are checked against the computer data that would have been furnished by them in their application forms. After verification, the KEA will retain one set of the attested photocopies and the original documents will be returned to the candidates. Before leaving the verification counter, an acknowledgement card and a verification slip will be issued to the candidates. Thereafter, the candidates will be sent to the seat selection hall, wherein the candidates will have the assistance of a huge on-line projector screen, which will show category-wise, course-wise and college-wise availability of seats at that moment. In the seat selection hall, all the candidates who have registered and verified their original documents will be called for seat selection as per the MERIT QUEUE. At this point, the candidate should produce the verification slip issued at the verification counter and the demand draft for the prescribed fee amount, failing which he will not be allowed to select a seat. The moment he / she selects a seat, the computer display and the on-line projector screen will show one seat less against the course / college from which the candidate has selected the seat. The details pertaining to the candidates who select seats at the allotment terminals such as Name, CET Number, Rank, Category, College / Course selected and Photograph of the candidate will also be displayed on the screens, for the information of all the candidates and parents who are waiting for seat selection both within and outside the premises of the KEA.

After seat selection, the candidate will have to go to the Bank counter and deposit the demand draft for the prescribed fee. The Bank Officer can enter the amount only if the candidate has selected a seat. Otherwise the computer at the Bank counter will not allow him to do so. After entering demand draft particulars against name of the candidate, a receipt will be issued to candidates in the Bank counter. Thereafter, the candidates are required to submit their verification slip in the Admission order issue counter located opposite to Bank counter. The admission order for the seat selected by candidates will be printed and the admission order will be issued ONLY to the candidates after obtaining candidates signature in the register and also after ascertaining that he has submitted all the required documents and has paid the prescribed fees.

6. SELECTION OF SEATS BY THE CANDIDATES AND ADMISSION


In accordance with Admission rules, the seat selection process comprises of an Admission Round followed by a Casual Vacancy Round for casual vacancies, if any. The seats will be offered to all eligible rank holders as per the seat matrix issued by the Government. During the admission round, if the seat of their choice is not available or all the seats are exhausted before their turn comes, then for such candidates it is not compulsory to attend the admission round, they can directly attend the casual vacancy round in the order of merit with all the necessary original documents and the requisite fee. There is no rule that only the candidates who have attended the admission round will have the opportunity to select seat in the casual vacancy round. All the eligible candidates will have an opportunity to participate in the casual vacancy round in the order of merit. i.e., the candidates; (i) whether attended or not attended the admission round, (ii) whether holding an acknowledgment card (Green Card), issued by this office or not, (An acknowledgment card will be issued to the candidates after verifying the original documents) (iii) whether selected a seat in the admission round or not, (iv) selected and reported to the concerned colleges, (v) selected but not reported to the concerned colleges. ADMISSION ROUND SEAT SELECTION PROCESS The admission round seat selection process will be held in the following stages and all eligible candidates will be allowed to participate in the same: STAGE 1 : For Physically Disabled, N.C.C. and Sports Special category candidates. STAGE 2 : For the ward of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants. STAGE 3 : For Medical and Dental courses. STAGE 4 : For Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga and Homoeopathy courses. (I. S. M. & H.) STAGE 5 : For Engineering and Technology courses. STAGE 6 : For Architecture course. In all the above stages of the admission round, the eligible rank holders will be allowed to select the seats in the order of merit, as per the schedule given in Appendix VII. The candidates, who select a seat in any of the above stages during the admission round, should invariably pay the prescribed fee in the form of Demand Draft and should obtain the admission order for the seat selected. The fee paid by candidates during the Admission round for one discipline / course will be adjusted upon selection of a seat in the other disciplines, without any deductions. STAGE 1 : FOR PHYSICALLY DISABLED, NCC, SPORTS SPECIAL CATEGORIES. In the first instance, the seats reserved for Physically Disabled, N.C.C. and Sports Special category candidates will be offered.

(a) ADMISSION ROUND FOR PHYSICALLY DISABLED CANDIDATES The candidates claiming a seat under the persons with disability category should COMPULSORILY appear before the Medical Board comprising of the Executive Director and three specialists. The Medical Board shall examine the candidate on 02-06-2010 at 11.00 a.m. and certify regarding the percentage of disability and the decision of the Medical Board will be final. The candidates with less than 40% of disability and those who fail to appear before the Committee on the notified date and time, will not be eligible for selection of a seat under the persons with disability category. The list of eligible physically disabled candidates prepared by the Medical Board will be final for the purpose of seat selection. The eligible Physically disabled candidates will be allowed to select the Medical, Dental, Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy seats on 03-06-2010 at 10.30 a.m. and for Engineering / Technology seats on the same day at 2.00 p.m. after they submit all the required original documents and the prescribed fees. (b) ADMISSION ROUND FOR N. C. C. CANDIDATES The candidates who have submitted their NCC certificates on 03-05-2010 as notified in Item 1 of Chapter III of this brochure will ONLY be allowed to appear before the Committee comprising of the Executive Director and the Director of NCC or his authorized nominee, on 04-06-2010 at 11.00 a.m. for verification of NCC certificates. The candidates who do not submit their NCC certificates on 03-05-2010 will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later seat selection under NCC. After verification of NCC certificates, the Director of NCC or his authorized nominee will prepare a preferential list among the eligible NCC candidates in the following order: The candidates possessing B certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in the Republic Day Camp held at New Delhi will be considered FIRST. Candidates possessing B certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in camps All India TSC (Boys) / TSC (Girls) / NSC / VSC and cadets who have been finally selected as part of DG NCC team to participate in All India Movalankar shooting championship at national level will be considered SECOND. Candidates possessing B certificate and who have participated in the Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organized by DG NCC will be considered THIRD. Candidates who have participated from Karnataka in the R D Camp will be considered FOURTH. Candidates possessing B certificate and who have participated from Karnataka in the All India TSC (Boys) / TSC (Girls) / NSC / VSC and cadets participated All India Movalankar shooting championship as part of KAR and GOA Directorate team will be considered FIFTH. Candidates possessing B certificate and who have participated in Mountaineering, Sailing, Motor Cycle, Cycling Expeditions organized by DG NCC / NCC Directorate of KAR and GOA considered SIXTH. Candidates possessing B certificate and who have participated in NIC, Trekking, Mountaineering, BLC, ALC, RCTC, and Army Navy, Air Force and Hospital attachment camps will be considered SEVENTH. Candidates who possess only B certificate will be considered EIGHTH. For all the above said categories, possession of B Certificate is compulsory. While considering the medal status for First and Second preferences, priority will be Gold to Silver and Silver to Bronze. The list of eligible NCC candidates prepared by the Director of NCC or his authorized nominee will be final for the purpose of seat selection under NCC. Thereafter, the list of eligible candidates will be prepared on the basis of CET ranking within the preferences mentioned above and the candidates will be allowed to select the seat accordingly. The Medical, Dental, Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy seat selection will be held on 05-06-2010 at 10.30 a.m. and Engineering & Technology seat selection on 05-06-2010 at 2.00 p.m. for eligible NCC candidates, after they submit all the required original documents and the prescribed fees.

NOTE: The candidates who have only B certificate need not submit their B certificate on 03-05-2010 and need not attend this NCC Special category Admission round on 05-06-2010. However, they will be allowed as per their CET Rankings in the general round of seat selection process for the unfilled NCC seats, if any, upon submission of their NCC B certificate. (c) ADMISSION ROUND FOR SPORTS CANDIDATES The candidates who have submitted their SPORTS certificates on 04-05-2010 as notified in Item 1 of Chapter III of this brochure will ONLY be allowed to appear before the Committee comprising of the Executive Director, KEA and the Commissioner for Youth Services & Sports or his authorized nominee, on 07-06-2010 at 11.00 a.m. for verification of SPORTS certificates. The candidates who do not submit their SPORTS certificates on 04-05-2010 will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later seat selection under SPORTS. After verification of SPORTS certificates, the Commissioner for Youth Services & Sports or his authorized nominee will prepare a preferential list among the eligible SPORTS candidates in the following order: The candidates who have won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in SUPER A GAMES will be considered FIRST. Medal winners in A GAMES will be considered SECOND. Medal winners in B GAMES and participant in SUPER A or A - GAMES will be considered THIRD. Candidates who have won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in B GAMES will be considered FOURTH. Among the Sports candidates in each group, the Medals won by the candidates in the events OR games of Sports will also be considered. Priority will be Gold to Silver and Silver to Bronze, irrespective of number of medals. The list of eligible Sports candidates prepared by the Commissioner for Youth Services & Sports or his authorized nominee will be final for the purpose of seat selection under Sports. Thereafter, the list of eligible candidates will be prepared on the basis of CET ranking within the preferences mentioned above and the candidates will be allowed to select the seat accordingly. The Medical, Dental, Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy seat selection will be held on 08-06-2010 at 10.30 a.m. and Engineering & Technology seat selection on 08-06-2010 at 2.00 p.m. for eligible SPORTS candidates, after they submit all the required original documents and the prescribed fees. NOTE : The candidates who have only participated in B GAMES need not attend this SPORTS Special category Admission round on 08-06-2010. However, they will be allowed as per their CET Rankings in the general round of seat selection process for the unfilled SPORTS seats, if any. IMPORTANT: There will be no separate seat selection process for the Defence, Ex-Defence, Scouts & Guides and Anglo-Indian Special categories. However, the eligible Defence, Ex-Defence, Scouts & Guides and Anglo-Indian Special category candidates will be allowed as per their CET Rankings in the general round of seat selection process for the seats reserved under the respective Special categories. STAGE 2 : ADMISSION ROUND FOR THE WARD OF JAMMU & KASHMIRI MIGRANTS The Medical and Dental seats reserved in respect of the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants will be offered in this stage of admission round on 09-06-2010 at 09.30 a.m. All eligible wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants will be allowed for selecting the Medical and Dental seats in accordance with their Medical ranks. Similarly, the Engineering and Technology seats reserved in respect of the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants will be offered on the same day i.e., on 09-06-2010 at 11.00 a.m. All eligible wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants will be allowed for selecting the Engineering / Technology seats in accordance with their Engineering ranks. The eligible wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants should COMPULSORILY submit the required documents in original and the prescribed fee, failing which, they will not be allowed for selecting the seats reserved in favour of the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants.

STAGE 3 : ADMISSION ROUND FOR MEDICAL AND DENTAL COURSES The Medical and Dental seats pertaining to all reserved categories, rural, Kannada medium, General merit and other Special categories such as Defence, Ex-Defence, Scouts & Guides, Anglo-Indian along with the unfilled NCC & Sports, if any, will be offered in this stage at once. All eligible medical rank holders including the candidates who have selected seats under the Physically Disabled, NCC, Sports Special categories and the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants, will be allowed to select Medical and Dental seats in accordance with their Medical ranks, after they submit all the required original documents and the prescribed fees. Seat selected in the earlier STAGES of admission round, if any, shall stand automatically cancelled, if a candidate selects a medical / dental seat in this STAGE. STAGE 4 : ADMISSION ROUND FOR AYURVEDA, HOMOEOPATHY, UNANI, NATUROPATHY & YOGA COURSES The Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga seats pertaining to all reserved categories, rural, Kannada medium, General merit and other Special categories such as Defence, Ex-Defence, Scouts & Guides, Anglo-Indian along with the unfilled NCC & Sports, if any, will be offered in this stage at once. All eligible ISM & H rank holders including the candidates who have selected seats under the Physically Disabled, NCC, Sports Special categories, the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants and the candidates who have selected Medical and Dental seats, will be allowed to select I. S. M. & Homoeopathy seats in accordance with their ISM & H ranks, after they submit all the required original documents and the prescribed fees. Seat selected in the earlier STAGES of admission round, if any, shall stand automatically cancelled, if a candidate selects a I. S. M. & Homoeopathy seat in this STAGE. STAGE 5 : ADMISSION ROUND FOR ENGINEERING / TECHNOLOGY COURSES The Engineering / Technology seats pertaining to all reserved categories, rural, Kannada medium, General merit and other Special categories such as Defence, Ex-Defence, Scouts & Guides, Anglo-Indian along with the unfilled NCC & Sports, if any, will be offered in this stage at once. All eligible Engineering rank holders including the candidates who have selected seats under the Physically Disabled, NCC, Sports Special categories, the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants and the candidates who have selected Medical / Dental / I. S. M. & Homoeopathy seats, will be allowed to select Engineering / Technology seats in accordance with their Engineering ranks, after they submit all the required original documents and the prescribed fees. Seat selected in the earlier STAGES of admission round, if any, shall stand automatically cancelled, if a candidate selects an Engineering / Technology seat in this STAGE. STAGE 6 : ADMISSION ROUND FOR ARCHITECTURE COURSE The Architecture seats pertaining to all reserved categories, rural, Kannada medium, General merit and other Special categories will be offered in this stage at once. All eligible Architecture rank holders including the candidates who have selected seats under the Physically Disabled, NCC, Sports Special categories, the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants and the candidates who have selected Medical / Dental / I. S. M. & Homoeopathy / Engineering / Technology seats, will be allowed to select Architecture seats in accordance with their Architecture ranks, after they submit all the required original documents and the prescribed fees. Seat selected in the earlier STAGES of admission round, if any, shall stand automatically cancelled, if a candidate selects an Architecture seat in this STAGE. NOTE : IN ALL THE ABOVE STAGES, THE CANDIDATES BELONGING TO RESERVED CATEGORIES SUCH AS SC, ST, CATEGORY 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, RURAL & KANNADA MEDIUM WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY OF SELECTING A SEAT UNDER GENERAL MERIT CATEGORY ALSO. IMPORTANT : The candidates who select a seat in the Admission Round, should report to the respective colleges along with the original admission order issued by the KEA, well within the last date prescribed in their admission orders.

PROCEDURE FOLLOWED FOR CONVERSION OF UNFILLED SEATS


After completion of the admission round, the seats that remain unfilled under all the Rural and Kannada medium quota of the reserved categories will be converted to General of the respective reserved categories (SCR & SCK to SCG, STR & STK to STG, 1R & 1K to 1G, 2AR & 2AK to 2AG, 2BR & 2BK to 2BG, 3AR & 3AK to 3AG, 3BR & 3BK to 3BG) before the commencement of casual vacancy round and offered ONLY to the reserved category candidates (including GMR & GMK category candidates) along with the cancelled seats in the respective categories. Thereafter, the seats that remain unfilled under various reserved General categories such as SCG, STG, 1G, 2AG, 2BG, 3AG, 3BG, GMR and GMK, along with unfilled special category seats, if any, will be converted to the General Merit category and offered to GM candidates along with all other reserved category candidates in the General casual vacancy round. However, the consequential rural and Kannada medium reserved category seats that arise during the reserved casual vacancy round will be converted to the General of the respective reserved categories and will be made available for selection only to the respective reserved category candidates during General casual vacancy round. IMPORTANT : 1. This procedure of conversion of seats will be adopted before the commencement of Casual vacancy round in respect of all the disciplines. Further, if the reserved category candidates select a General Merit / respective reserved category seat during the General casual vacancy round, then a reserved category seat becomes vacant. Such seats are treated as CONSEQUENTIAL CASUAL VACANCIES. These consequential reserved category vacancies that arise during the General casual vacancy round will remain under the same categories and will be offered only to the candidates belonging to the same reserved categories. 2. The reserved category seat cancelled by a candidate either before the commencement of casual vacancy round or during the casual vacancy round at any stage, will not be converted to General Merit category and such reserved category cancelled seats will be offered only to the respective category candidates. CASUAL VACANCY ROUND SEAT SELECTION PROCESS After the completion of admission round seat selection, all the unfilled / surrendered / forfeited / cancelled / newly added seats, if any, will be offered as CASUAL VACANCIES. All candidates who have selected a seat and obtained admission orders in respect of the seat selected in the admission round whether reported to the college or not, will be eligible to participate in the Casual Vacancy round along with all those candidates who have not selected any seat in any of the stages in the admission round. The candidates who participate in the Casual Vacancy Round for the first time should invariably submit the required documents in Original along with one set of attested photocopies and prescribed fees without fail. The candidates who have selected seat in the admission round will have the following three options when their turn comes in the casual vacancy round; (i) if the candidate is satisfied with the seat selected during the admission round he / she can continue in the same seat. The last date for reporting will be extended if the candidate has not reported to the college and if he / she retains the same seat. OR (ii) a candidate can select a seat afresh in the order of merit, the fee paid during the admission round if any, will be adjusted for the seat selected and a fresh admission order will be issued to the candidate. The seat selected in the admission round will get automatically cancelled by the computer and immediately added to the seat matrix (display board) to the same college, course / category, upon selection of a seat in this round. (iii) A candidate can cancel the seat when his / her turn comes in this round by forfeiting 50% of the amount fee paid.

IMPORTANT NOTE : (1) A candidate who selects a Medical / Dental seat in the Casual Vacancy round or the candidate who confirms the Medical / Dental seat selected during the admission round will not be eligible for participating in the subsequent stages of Casual Vacancy round for other disciplines. Likewise, a candidate who selects an ISM & Homoeopathy seat during Casual Vacancy round or the candidate who confirms the ISM & H seat selected during the admission round will not be eligible for participating in the Engineering / Technology / Architecture Casual Vacancy rounds and a candidate who selects an Engineering / Technology seat during Casual Vacancy round or the candidate who confirms the Engineering / Technology seat selected during the admission round will not be eligible for participating in the Architecture Casual Vacancy round. Provided that the candidates who have selected Medical / Dental seat in the admission round and who wants to opt for Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy or Engineering / Technology or Architecture seat in the Casual Vacancy Round, should invariably surrender the Medical / Dental seat either before the commencement of Medical / Dental casual vacancy round or before the turn of such candidate in the Medical / Dental casual vacancy round. Provided further that the candidates who have selected Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy seat in the admission round and who wants to opt for Engineering / Technology or Architecture seat in the Casual Vacancy Round, should invariably surrender the Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy seat either before the commencement of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy casual vacancy round or before the turn of such candidate in the Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy casual vacancy round. This proviso is applicable for the Casual vacancy rounds for Engineering / Technology and Architecture courses also. (2) The candidates who select casual vacancy seats should invariably report to the respective colleges along with all original documents and the admission order issued by KEA, well within the last date prescribed in the admission order, for that discipline. (3) If a candidate does not surrenders the seat to KEA during casual vacancy seat selection round before the turn comes, he / she deemed to have got admitted to the seat selected by him / her selected in either of the rounds. (4) If a candidate decides to surrender the seats, he / she has to surrender the seat only to KEA, merely not reporting to the selected college should not be presumed by the candidate that he / she has surrendered the seat to KEA. The Casual vacancy round seat selection process will be held as per the schedule given in APPENDIX VII of the brochure. In the first instance Casual Vacancy Round will be held for reserved categories and special categories including GMR and GMK candidates, but the seats pertaining to General Merit will not be offered for selection. If any reserved candidate likes to select a General Merit seat he has to participate in the General Merit casual vacancy round. After completion of reserved and special categories casual vacancy round, the Casual Vacancy Round will be for General Merit seats, where in all the reserved category candidates will be allowed to select seats in the order of merit. The different stages of Casual vacancy round seat selection are as follows: STAGE 1 : CASUAL VACANCY ROUND FOR MEDICAL AND DENTAL COURSES The Medical and Dental Casual vacancies, if any, will be offered in the following three rounds: (1) Special categories : In this round, the casual vacancies, if any, will be offered to Physically Disabled, NCC and Sports Special category candidates followed by the wards of Jammu and Kashmiri migrants. A NOTE ON REFUND AND FORFEITURE OF FEE


1. In the case of a candidate who cancels / surrenders the seat selected in the Admission round, before the turn of such candidate in the Casual Vacancy round, the Executive Director, KEA shall forfeit 50% of the fee paid by him / her and refund the remaining amount to the candidate, in the form of Account Payee Cheque through Canara Bank, KEA Extension Counter. (Account Payee Cheque will be issued only in the name of the candidate) 2. In the case of a candidate who cancels / surrenders the seat after such candidates turn in the Casual Vacancy round, the Executive Director, KEA shall forfeit 100% of the fee paid by the candidate. 3. The fee paid in the Casual Vacancy round, will not be liable to be refunded, in case of cancellation / surrender of the same by the candidate. A candidate who selects a casual vacancy seat and does not join the college concerned shall not be entitled for refund of deposited fees, which shall be forfeited by the Executive Director, KEA. 4. In the case of a candidate who does not surrender, cancel or fails to join the college / course allotted, even after the completion of the Casual Vacancy round, then the Executive Director, KEA shall forfeit the entire amount paid as fees by the concerned candidate. 5. In the case of a candidate who claims the refund with regard to the excess fee remitted by him / her should claim such amount on or before 31-03-2011, failing which, the Executive Director, KEA shall forfeit such excess fee amount paid by the concerned candidate.

LEGAL JURISDICTION
Any dispute that may arise in respect of the test or the later seat selection process and admission is subject to the jurisdiction of the Honble High court of Karnataka. The issue of admission order by the KEA shall enable the candidate to join the concerned college, subject to the academic eligibility, etc., being approved by the concerned University as per the Regulations.
