VENTED-BALL- ANGLE- COCK

DESCRIPTION

The Vented Ball. Angle Cock is made available due to specific
request of the customer for application to the ends of the brake
pipe on specific identifiable rail vehicles. The cock provides a
means for the manual closing of the brake pipe and for the
continuation of the brake pipe between coupled cars by the
connection of an attached brake hose assembly. When
properly applied, this special cock vents air out of the
connecting hose between cars when the cock handle is placed
in the closed position.

WARNING:

This Vented Ball Angle Cock is NOT a standard offering. t is
designed for SPECAL applications only. mproper assembly
and/or use can result in an air brake equipment malfunction
which could result in equipment damage and lead to possible
bodily harm. This Angle Cock is NOT to be used as a
replacement for non-vented standard Ball. Angle Cocks.
Consult your Wabtec Corporation Representative for specific
installation information.

OPERATION

The Cock is open when the handle is parallel to the brake pipe
line and closed when the handle is crosswise or at right angles
to the brake pipe line. When closed, the cock, if properly
assembled, is designed to vent any trapped air in the attached
brake hose assembly to atmosphere through the vent in the ball
and body. At the same time, air in the brake pipe line is bottled
up in the piping through the car. To move the handle from one
position to the other it is necessary to raise the handle slightly.
The handle is to be moved its full travel to the open or closed
position. The handle is designed to lock in both the open and
closed positions. This self-locking feature aids in restricting the
accidental opening or closing of the cock.

WARNING:

Eye protection is to be worn when operating the Cut-Out Cock
handle to prevent injury from flying dirt and/or debris caused by
the rapid flow of air from the vent.

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
