LOS ANGELES DODGERS

ON THE HORIZON: The team is in flux because its for sale after Frank and Jamie McCourt's messy divorce. Magic Johnson, Steve Garvey, Larry King and a host of LA celebrities are reportedly going to bid. Meanwhile, general manager Ned Colleti is on a limited budget to pursue free agents. OWNER: On paper, the McCourts still own the
team. Bankruptcy court has ordered the team to be sold by the end of April.

BATTLEFIELD

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres have all carved up their own corners of the Southern California baseball market. And all appear to be at the crossroads in a very fragile economy.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS OF ANEHEIM

ON THE HORIZON: It's been a decade since the team won the World Series. The team parted with general manager Tony Reagins, a Riverside County native, in October. New general manager Jerry DiPoto has been given the task to regain control of the AL West, won by Texas the past two seasons. OWNER: Arturo Arte Moreno. The Arizona
billboard magnate bought the team in 2003 from Disney. He renamed the stadium (Angel Stadium of Anaheim) and withstood a court battle to rename the team (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim).

SAN DIEGO PADRES

ON THE HORIZON: The Padres are in another rebuilding mode. When Petco Park opened to sellout crowds in 2004, the Padres were on the threshold of back-to-back playoff appearances ('05-06). Since 2007, however, the team has struggled on the field and in the stands. OWNER: John Moores is in the process of selling the
team to Jeff Moorad. The deal will not be complete until 2013. Until then, the joint ownership has a limited budget, which has spurred trading some of the franchise's top players (Adrian Gonzales, Jake Peavy).
