HISTORY

The Aeronautical Museum is housed in the old passenger terminal for the island of Lanzarote, which was built in 1946 and remained in service until 1970. The museum opened in 2006 and is an important cultural project. Its main lobby features a mural by Belgian artist Jean P. Hock and a reproduction of the 1953 acrylic Lanzarote, by local artist Csar Manrique, a representation of island life and culture during the first half of the 20th century. The museum has 11 thematic rooms on two floors, with interesting educational material on the evolution of air transportation. New multimedia exhibits, incorporating touchscreen technology and image projection, complement fascinating resources such as historical photographs, scale models of aircraft and items donated by collectors. a) On the ground floor: The first flights to and from Lanzarote The terminal, transportation and

CURRENT SITUATION

The aeronautical Museum allows a better understanding of the recent history of aviation in Lanzarote, playing an interpretive and informative role of aviation culture. On the other hand, a former military house located next to the Museum has been rehabilitated to host an Environmental Room that together with the Aeronautical Museum offers guided visits in three languages to all visitors, with the intention of promoting environmental awareness and respect for the environment in a space protected by Biosphere Reserve.
