record-high number of beaders entered this years Beadwork juried show, The Beaded Bag. Imagine culling 61 nalists from the whopping 202 initial entries. Then consider the task of narrowing this eld by about half (35)from a group of artful bags that are all individually distinctive, beautiful, and nely crafted! From blooming pyramids, to a Yoruba-inspired bag with a face, to a tiger whose whiskers tickled our fancy, this gallery of the judges selected bags is sure to elicit oohs and ahhsas it did when displayed at this years Bead Expo in Oakland, California (April 1115, 2007). Our jurors (see page 7), Dustin (Bead Boy) Wedekind, Nancy Zellers, and Linda Carlson, chose bags they felt represented the most creative and well-crafted efforts in beading. Our Best in Show goes to Myrle Borine for On the Town, a sculptural creation with a vibrant mix of delicate patterns. Here we present rst the 35 winning bags, then the remaining 26 nalists for your viewing pleasure. Congratulations to all!
