Special Schedule
Gym is on Wednesdays and Fridays (students should wear rubber soled shoes-no sandals!) Art is on Tuesdays Music is on Mondays and Wednesdays Computers are on Fridays Library is on Thursdays

Dismissal Procedures
Students will be held on the porch until a parent/guardian is in view. Please review with your child that they should not leave the porch until they have told me who is there to pick them up. If the parent/guardian is running late, the student will be taken to the office to wait.

B.E.E. Books
Bring Everything Everyday
This is your first graders take home folder. It must be brought to school everyday. Please review the contents with your child DAILY!!! It will contain homework, graded work, and work completed together in class.

Daily Five
The Daily Five is a literacy structure that allows for differentiation in the classroom and provides consistency. It is an integrated literacy instruction and classroom management system for use in reading and writing workshops. It is a system of five literacy tasks that teaches students independence.

Math
We use the Everyday Math Series which is a spiraling curriculum. We supplement this series with Touch Math to help the students with addition and subtraction.

Homework
Reading to and with your child daily is the MOST important homework your child will do. It is important that you read TO your child, and WITH your child. It is also important that your child read with increased independence. A few minutes to start the year, but increasing time as the school year progresses.

Homework will be given Mondays through Thursdays. It can be spelling, math, handwriting, reading or writing

Snack
Please send a healthy snack to school everyday, even on half days. Suggested snacks could be: fruit, crackers, pretzels, popcorn, frozen yogurt, granola bars, etc. Please do not send fruit rollups, fruit snacks, chips, or Twinkies/Ho Hos!

Donations
Please consider purchasing a magazine subscription for the class to Highlights, Ranger Rick, or Zoo Books. We use Leapfrog systems in the class and are always needing donations of books and cartridges. Items always needed are AA batteries, Playdough, or plastic spoons.

Label, Label, Label


Please label everything it can be very confusing for your child! If you are sending money with your child, please put it in a labeled envelope or ziploc bag. It saves me a lot of time if I dont have to do this for 32 children.
