Material handling

Material handling unit There is one unit for holding the treads which can be retreaded periodically. And the unit has been facilitated in air conditional environment to keep the nature of the tread and to avoid the melting. Treads can be stored in a separate air conditioned room till they located on tyres in order to avoid the melting at production. QUALITY CONTROL

After full process of retreading the tyres would be evaluated based on the unwrapping capacity and the testing will be conducted filled by air as when they fit into the vehicle for predicting the actual situation and the firm is only responsible for the tread which can be unwrapped in such situations and not responsible for the previous damages in the nature of the tyres.

The quality check of the products like treads can be evaluated under several testing and research pattern as before the distributor to the franchisee or retreader. The franchisor is responsible for the above quality check to keep the nature of the treads.

2)PROCESS AND FUNCTIONS

PROCESS OF RETREADING: There are several kinds of retreading processes available today. The traditional hot process of the mould cure retreading method (Hot Process) is one. But technological developments have rendered, this method obsolete. Instead, the COLD PROCESS retreading method with Pre-Cured Tread, enables tires to have more life span and give more mileage. It is also suitable for all types of tires.

PRE-CURED RETREADING PROCESS: This process entails Building and Curing. The top surface of casing is buffed. A fast cure cushion gum is applied on the surface of the tire after cementing with Vulcanising Solution. Pre-cured Tread, matching to the tire is fixed on it. The tire is then wrapped in a thin rubber envelope. Bonding is carried out in a Bonder while exerting uniform air pressure.

1.Inspection : The purpose of initial inspection is to verify that a casing is acceptable for retreading using a through inspection of each tyre. Inside and outside. Identity casing injuries and determine of repairable. Reject or approve the casing for processing. Whether accept or reject the tyres which are proposed for retreading. 2.Buffing:

This process can be consider as the initial stage of retreading. It shapes the used tyre for retreading The primary objective of buffing is to prepare the wom tread surface of the tyre to receive a retread.The original tread design and some of the undertread is removed to provide the casing with the required dimensions and surface texture. 3.Rasping: It is the accurate process of buffing enable the retreading process. That is minute process of cleaning the micro level affected treads from the tyre which has to be retreded. Once this stage concluded then the we come know that the tyre is ready for the bonding process.

4.Building: Building is the process of applying a premoulded retread or new tread rubber to the buffed and prepared casing An uncured cushion gum that will develop the bonding between permoulded tread and casing is applied to the casing. Premoulded treads are cut to net length, applied and splice on the casing. In the mould cure process uncured tread compound is extruded or applied as a strip directly to the casing. This process is a similar to fitting the treads on tyres. 5.Bonder: It is the final process which enables the retreaded tyres for distribution. To ensure a quality retread each tyre passes a through inside and outside visual inspection. It is mandatory that the tyre meets all customers and government regulations. Some retreaders are also using instrumented inspection like xray. Shearographie or high pressure tester. Unacceptable tyres are rejected and scrapped. Separate units are provided for buffing and rasping and one common unit is allocated for building and bonder.

MRF RETREADING:
MRF PRETREADS is the most advanced precured retreading system in India. MRF forayed into retreading as far back as 1970 Today, MRF has perfected the art of precured retreading with its extensive knowledge in tyres and rubber. In the MRF PRETREADS system, the tread rubber is precured from MRF's factory in a carefully controlled environment, thereby ensuring world-class quality. Today, MRF PRETREADS has emerged as the Mileage leader in precured retreading and also has the specialized expertise required for retreading Radial Tyres of Truck, Bus, LCV and Passenger vehicles.

Types of Retreading: Retreading can be done by the following two processes: 1. Conventional Process (also known as 'mould cure' or 'hot cure' process) In this process a un-vulcanized rubber strip is applied on the buffed casing of the tyre. This strip takes the pattern of the mould during the process of vulcanization;

2. Precured Process ( also known as 'cold cure') In this process a tread strip, where the pattern is already pressed and precure is applied to the casing. It is bonded to the casing by means of a thin layer of specially compounded uncured rubber (known as cushion or bonding gum) which is vulcanized by the application of heat, pressure and time. Retreading is primarily done in the Truck and Bus tyre segment. On an average a Truck/Bus tyre is retreaded 1.5 times.

a) USES OF RETREADING: Tyre retreading should be consciously practiced by all vehicle owners. Tyres can be successfully retreaded many times over and there is no difference in the performance of new or retreaded tyres. The difference is to the environment and your pockets. Retreading delays the landfill disposal of this non-degradable material. Also it helps save a few gallons of crude oil that would otherwise go into the making of a fresh tyre. There are many resources where information on tyre retreading is available; you should always try to get your tyres retreaded through an environmentally conscious dealer.

THE BENEFITS OF PRECURED (COLD) PROCESS RETREADING: The rubber in for Precured Retreading is of even thickness. The absence of high temperatures and pressures enhances casing life. It is resilient and can resist wear and tear better. A firm, uniform Bonding is possible. Suitable for different tires, sizes and applications. Multiple Retreads from the same Casing. Greater mileage Better road grip Well researched and evaluated treads Proven rubber technology Low operating costs Gives 70-80% of original tyre mileage and costs about 25-30% of a new truck tyre
