Rainwater harvesting
for housing technology and garden irrigation
Rainwater harvesting
ecological and economical
The advantages of rainwater harvesting lie in the marked reduction in the demand for drinking water and associated costs without having to cut down on water usage. In the case of harvesting rainwater as drinking water after appropriate disinfection and filtering procedures, the advantages of the purity of rainwater and the original structure of the water are utilised for the benefit of human health. Rainwater treatment according to the application Rain cleans the air by absorbing dissolved oxygen and nitrogen along with dust and substances such as carbon dioxide. According to the desired use of the rainwater the following treatment methods are shown: For garden irrigation Gutter grilles, inlet cleaning Extraction from the clean water layer in the tank For home technology (Washing machine / toilet / irrigation) Biovitor with marble gravel or built-in tank filter with inlet cleaning Floating suction filter For the entire domestic water demand Drinking water purification using ozone, UV light and activated carbon treatment

Rainwater harvesting
ecological and economical
Promoting rainwater harvesting Funding exists for private and commercial initiatives for rainwater harvesting and percolation which relieve the pressure on sewage works and groundwater protection. We offer you high-quality rainwater harvesting systems, such as the first rainwater harvesting system with 100% water extraction through biological treatment with our patented Biovitor technology. This technology, proven in practice, provides you with clear, odourless and hygienically safe rainwater. Rainwater is more than just a substitute: washing (laundry): soft, clean, white no fabric softener required rainwater does not contain any calcium, making calci fied washing machines and limescale in toilets and wash basins a thing of the past cleaning no limescale after drying rainwater is much kinder to sensitive skin pets will be happier with clear, clean rainwater garden irrigation plants naturally tolerate soft rainwater Drinking water from rainwater: has an exceptionally high purity as well as the original water quality best digestible to humans treating rainwater with RainSafe creates a highquality drinking water ideally suited for domestic use including drinking and cooking.

Vertical adjustment
Convincing advantages:
standard product with sliding dome* and cover (can be trod or driven on**) for horizontal and vertical terrain adjustment free opening for access 600 mm* in accordance with DIN 1989 (DIN - German abbreviation for German Industrial Standards) constantly checked quality in accordance with design approval provisions high dimensional stability plug-in inlet, overflow and domestic connectors lightproof UV resistance for a constant material quality
optional with Biovitor incl. overflow siphon and animal guard Thanks to their high standard of quality, all of the underground tanks may be used as septic tanks. Rotational form technology
tension-free manufacture in a one piece product strong walls robust rotational form technology best construction of GreenLife stability profiles maximum container stability compared to blow-moulded tanks (for example), which are only partly suitable for underground installation
Hygiene Modern rainwater harvesting systems properly managed are completely safe hygienically and produce a rainwater quality which is significantly below the European directive threshold levels for bathing water. Safety The safety aspect for a specific domestic and business use of rainwater is ensured by producing a separate system for rainwater harvesting with no direct connection to the public drinking water supply.
Replacing 50% of your drinking water would result in considerable annual savings, and this would make your rainwater harvesting system pay for itself within a few years and sustainably reduce the strain on the environment.
Consistent quality management in accordance with the strict standards of ISO 9001:2000 certification, modern technologies and optimal material selection are the prerequisites that enable the GreenLife underground tanks and earth shafts to satisfy the highest demands. This is why we provide you with a warranty of 15 years on our underground tanks providing that operation and installation are in compliance with our instructions. Components and accessories are excluded from the warranty, even if they are included in the package price. Important: empty all above-ground tanks and storage containers if there is a risk of frost. If there is groundwater, stratum water or the risk of flooding or waterlogging of the earth near to the tank, please discuss this with us before purchasing. Subject to further technical developments and alterations to the individual articles as well as errors, printing errors and price changes. Photos and illustrations are non-binding. For technical reasons minor dimensional, weight and colour differences may occur. Please request the delivery conditions from your local dealer.

always be implemented as a separate outlet. This outlet must be installed above the backflow level, i.e. the level of the kerb of the adjacent road. - Plastic pipes should be used for rainwater harvesting systems, as they are more durable than other materials and ensure the best water quality. - Fine filters installed in the house have a negative effect on the quality of the rainwater, as they promote bacterial growth. We therefore strongly recommend that you do not use them. Good systems should filter the rainwater before or in the tank. - The pressure of the pump should be controlled by an automatic switching devices. You should avoid using membrane expansion vessels (risk of germ

contamination and maintenance intensive). - All pipelines and draw-off points must be labelled with the following signs: RAINWATER and NOT DRINKING WATER (in accordance with DIN 1988, 1989). - Cross-connections between the drinking water and rainwater systems are forbidden. - Percolation is at the owners own risk. Do not rely on hearsay and permission; please carry out a percolation test yourself. - Good advice obtained before installation saves time, money and problems.

Percolation
You can drive on soakaway storage tanks, if they are installed 80 cm underground in compliance with the installation instructions
From an ecological perspective extremely useful in directly enriching groundwater, as well as saving money no channel installation, no sealing charges charged by many local authorities (hitherto between 0.60 and 1.60 EUROs per m annually). Towns and municipalities are legally obliged to generally introduce this charge in keeping with a sense of fairness; this way you only pay for the actual areas linked and not a flat-rate. General information: only percolation through green surfaces (defined as natural ground consisting of a meadow with a topsoil layer of a minimum 30cm) is exempt from any charges in Germany. All other seepage systems are generally subject to charges. For more information, you are recommended to contact your local planning office prior to construction. A percolation test is advisable, because the builder (proprietor) is responsible for any damage caused by his system, even if permission has been granted. Percolation test: dig a 50 x 50 x 50 cm hole, and keep filling it for 2 hours with water (to saturate the earth). Then fill the hole to a depth of 30 cm and measure the time it takes for the water to percolate. If the water level drops accordingly, then you have a more or less water-permeable soil. Compare your result with the following table to obtain the storage volume required. If the water level does not drop, you should not install a percolation system at this location. Table for storage volume / number of soak-away storage tanks Seepage test Drop in level/time over 15 cm / 30 min over 5 cm / 30 min over 5 cm / 90 min 2 to 5 cm / 90 min linked sealed area (m2) 100 100 100 100 Retention capacity (litres) 950 1.900 2.700 3.100 Number of 280 l tanks 4 7 10 11
GreenLife seepage storage tanks made of polypropylene are the ideal solution for the decentralised retention and percolation of rainwater. High variability due to flexible block system Low installation depth (ideal for large-area water seepage in regions with high groundwater level) 95% storage volume - replaces soak-away pipe and gravel pit High load-bearing capacity Versatile use (percolation, groundwater recharge, retention area drainage) Flexible the soakaway storage tanks can be located next to each other

Surface water percolation of sealed areas such as asphalted, concreted or paved courtyards, paths, parking areas, drive-ways, terraces and much more. Rainwater percolation from roof areas of houses, carports, garages and larger greenhouses and similar. Clean water percolation from a rainwater harvesting system

Rainwater retention
Rainwater retention is becoming compulsory in an increasing number of communities in order to reduce the rainwater load in the sewer systems, as well as allowing for a more economical design of sewer systems in new buildings developments. The retention tanks store the rainwater and release it after a delay at a limited flow rate to the sewer system. With a flow rate of 0.015 l/sec, for example, 2,592 litres of rainwater can be continuously released into the sewer system in 48 hours.
