Forerunner Chain to Anchor

Cost-effective, exible subsea mooring...in any water depth...with any anchor type

As the offshore industry moves into ultra-deepwater frontiers, new mooring technology will be needed not only for mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs), but also new deepwater production vessels (FPSOs, FSOs, TLPs, and Spars). Delmar Systems developed the worlds rst disconnectable, permanent subsea mooring connector, allowing operators to change out mooring components with just one anchor handling vessel (AHV) and without having to unseat the anchor. The Delmar Subsea Connector (DSC) was the rst patented Classication Society-approved ROV-actuated connector for both MODU and permanent mooring systems. Other applications for the DSC have included installation and recovery of pipeline initiation piles and subsea packages.

Rental eet connectors have been extensively used for rapid reentry into existing MODU mooring patterns for workover. The anchors can be deployed in preset mooring patterns from a single vessel and the mooring line attachment completed later at the convenience of the operator. The open-throated design consists of male and female components that can be connected or disconnected with any standard deepwater ROV. The female component can be adapted for chain, wire, or polyester connections. The DSC can be used with any type of anchor (suction, vertical load anchor (VLA), driven piles, drag embedment, and plate) and mooring line (chain, wire, or synthetic rope) and is available in a range of sizes to accommodate any mooring load.

Custom Design

Components designed for specic mooring loads. Designed to accommodate all combinations of chain/wire/synthetic mooring lines. Designed to t all types of anchor foundations (suction, VLA, conventional, plate, driven pile, etc.).

Construction

ROV Compatibility

Made of high-strength cast steel (ASTM A148, Grade 105-85). Excellent fatigue life properties. Corrosion protection with metallization of the components. Electrical isolation can be incorporated.

First classication society-approved ROV-actuated disconnectable device for use in both temporary and permanent mooring systems. Easily operated by any deepwater ROV system. No specic tools needed for ROV package to install connectors.

Safety and Security

Innovative design provides failsafe performance. Locking device insures male/female connection during installation.
