It is therefore not possible for the community alone to fund the project in its entirety.

Through the Florence Islamic Center we hope to attract and retain families who would raise the wealth profile of the local muslim community. Many such muslims currently travel to Columbia, SC or to neighboring states to find a masjid and Islamic education for their children.

DEMONSTRATED NEED
The Pee Dee area of South Carolina has long lacked an essential masjid and community center. Today we believe we have a community large enough to outgrow the various makeshift prayer rooms spread through the area and establish a central masjid and community center. The rationale for the project is as follows: Approximately 200 muslims live in the Pee Dee Area The center will serve the cities of Florence, Hartsville, Lake City, Sumter, Dillon and Darlington It will serve to attract and retain muslim families who need a place to educate themselves about Islam It will serve as a center for dawah for the region.

Our ultimate purpose in this project is to earn for ourselves and for all donors and contributors to this project, a place in heaven. With the will of Allah, the proposed Florence Islamic Center will serve as a focal point for the muslim community of the Pee Dee area and beyond. The main purpose is to establish a masjid for men and women. It will also serve as a Sunday School where Quran and Tajweed Classes will be held. Additionally there will be Arabic classes for adults and children. An adjunct Community Hall will serve as a multi-purpose function, gathering and meeting place.
