Earmarked $10 Million for Sensors and Electronic Survivability In February 2011, Bartlett earmarked $10 million in the FY2012 National Defense Authorization Act for sensors and electronic survivability for the development of command, control, and navigation capabilities for manned and unmanned aircrafts for Proxy Aviation in Germantown, Maryland, located just outside Bartletts district. Rob Garagiola garnered about $344,000 in the fourth quarter of 2011 more than triple the amount raised by Bartlett, who brought in $104,490 in the same period. Stressed Importance of Job Creation and Reducing Government Spending In November 2011, Bartlett said that the economy and jobs would be the biggest issues in the new 6th district. Bartlett said that a reduction in government spending would help create jobs. In addition, he said that eliminating federal regulations and scrapping the tax code and creating a tax on consumption would create jobs. It's really about jobs, he said. Bartlett Secured $4.5 Million Earmark to Upgrade Road Near His Own Properties In February 2012, the Washington Post investigated federal earmarks enacted by lawmakers that were next to or within two miles of their own property. Since 2005, Bartlett helped secure about $4.5 million to upgrade a Frederick County interchange at Interstate 270 and Buckeystown Pike. Delaney could potentially match resources of State Senate Majority Leader Rob Garagiola, who had the highest profile and best fundraising so far in the race.
