18, Institutional Area, Shaheed Jeet Singh Marg, New Delhi 1100602 Tele: 26858570, 26569515, FAX No.26514179 The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, henceforth mentioned as KVS, is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. The KVS intends to recruit Officers, teaching and non-teaching staff for its Offices/schools spread all over India. Applications are invited in the prescribed format (Annexure-I) from the Indian Nationals for filling up the vacancies in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for the year 2010-11. IMPORTANT 1. CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION. 1.1 The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility condition(s). 1.2 Mere issue of Admit Card to the candidate will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the KVS. 1.3 The KVS takes up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidates have qualified for interview/personality Test. 2. APPLICATION FORM:

2.1 Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the KVS for this examination and available with the advertisement inviting applications or may be downloaded as available in this site. 2.2 Candidates are advised to read carefully the guidelines for filling up the Application Form given with this notice. 3. LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS:- 12th October, 2009 3.1 Candidates must send application by ordinary post since applications sent by Regd. Post/Speed Post/Courier are not accepted at Post Box address. The KVS will not be responsible for applications sent at any other address (including KVS office) or sent by hand or otherwise. Candidates are advised to send the application well in advance to avoid any postal delay. 3.2 However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in para 6 of this notice the last date for receipt of application by post shall be 19th October, 2009.

MOBILE PHONES BANNED: 5.1 Mobile phones, pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examination. 5.2 Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangements for safekeeping can not be assured. 6. 6.1. Mode of payment of Examination Fee:For applying to the aforesaid posts, candidates are advised to remit Rs.1,000/- for Officers post and Rs.750/- for other posts through electronic transfer into Account No.405046333 with the Indian Bank, Mehrauli Institutional Area, New Delhi 110016 (Branch Code : 943). For remittance of fee through electronic mode, candidates have to visit the nearest branch of the Indian Bank, alongwith prescribed Challan. The sample copy of the challan is appended alongwith this advertisement and can also be downloaded from KVSs Website. The candidates have to fill in the Challan and deposit the same in the Bank along with requisite fee in any branch of Indian Bank. THE WOMEN CANDIDATES ARE EXEMPTED FROM PAYING THE FEE. One copy of Challan duly signed and stamped alongwith Deposit Journal Number should be collected from the bank for filling up necessary details in the application form. The Challan received from the Bank should also be attached with the application form in original. In addition to fee, the Indian Bank will charge Rs.30/- as Service charge for transferring the fee through electronic mode i.e. the candidates should remit FEE+Rs.30/- (Rs.1030/- for Officers cadre and Rs.780/- for other posts). The fee can also be transferred from any Bank other than the Indian Bank. The Challan/Counter foil/Cash Receipt Voucher/Pay-in Slip received from the Bank should be attached with the application form in original.

In addition, those candidates who are unable to deposit the requisite fee through electronic mode, may send fee by way of Demand Draft (valid for a period of 6 months) in favour of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan payable at New Delhi. On the back side of the Demand Draft the candidates are advised to write their name, date of birth, address and post applied for in capital letters. Before collecting the demand draft from the Bank, the candidates are advised to check the following: The date of issue is correctly mentioned. The signature of bank authorities exists on the Bank Draft. The address of issuing bank and branch code is correctly mentioned. The amount of examination fee is correctly mentioned in words and figures, The draft is payable in favour of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan at New Delhi, The draft is valid for six months, etc. 6.7. Candidates are advised to keep photocopy of the above details viz. Demand Draft/Challan/Counter foil/Cash Receipt Voucher/Pay-in Slip with them for reference.

NOTE: RESERVATION The reservation of vacancies for Ex-servicemen and Physically Challenged candidates will be as per rules of the Government of India. A person who has served in any rank (whether as combatant or as non-combatant) in the Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) will only be eligible for reservation of Exservicemen and not their dependents. PART - II : ELIGIBILITY/AGE RELAXATION 1 ELIGIBILITY OF APPLICANTS 1.1 All applicants must ensure that they fulfill the essential qualification and age for the post applied for and other conditions stipulated in this advertisement as on 12th October, 2009. The applications of those candidates not fulfilling the essential qualifications and other requirement will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be made in this regard. 2 2.1 (a). (b). AGE RELAXATION Relaxation in upper age limit will be as under: No age bar in the case of employees of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Up-to a maximum of Five years in the case of SC/ ST candidates. Up-to a maximum of three years in the case of OBC candidates. Up-to five years for persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during 01.01.80 to 31.12.89. Up-to a maximum of Five Years for Govt. servants. An ex-serviceman who has put in not less than 06 months continuous service in the Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for the post by more than 3 years he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit. This is not applicable for the Officers cadre. Up-to a maximum of 10 years in the case of SC/ST candidates serving as Govt. employees in accordance with the Govt. of India instructions. An applicant claiming age relaxation under this para should produce a certificate from his/her employer to the effect that he/ she is a Govt. servant as on the date of advertisement. Same as provided above the age limit prescribed can in no case be relaxed. 2.3.1 The date of birth accepted by the KVS is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or an equivalent examination certificate. 2.3.2 Self attested copies of these certificates are required to be submitted at the time of submitting the application. 2.3.3 No other document relating to age like horoscope, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and the like will be accepted. 2.3.4 The expression Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the instruction includes the alternative certificates mentioned above. NOTE 1 Candidates should note that only the Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will be accepted by the KVS and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted. NOTE 2 Candidates should also note that once a Date of Birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the KVS for the purpose of admission to an Examination, no change will be allowed subsequently (or at any other Examination of the KVS) on any grounds whatsoever. The candidate should exercise due care while entering their date of birth in column specified in the application form. If on verification at any subsequent stage, any variation is found in their date of birth from the one entered in their matriculation or equivalent examination certificate, suitable action will be taken against them by the KVS under the Rules.

PART - III : HOW TO APPLY AND EXAMINATION FEE/APPLICATION FEE. i. Application must be submitted in the prescribed format published as Annexure I of this advertisement. The application format can also be downloaded available in this site. ii. Applicants may apply for one or more than one post in accordance with the dates and timings of the examination fixed for the posts at their own risk so that examination for the posts does not clash. iii. Candidates desirous to apply for more than one post should submit application for each post accompanied by necessary enclosures for each post in separate envelops. iv. Candidates serving in any recognised Institution/ Organisation/ Autonomous body/ Central Govt./ State Govt. and CBSE affiliated +2 Schools must apply Through Proper Channel. Applications sent through proper channel should reach the address (i.e. P.O. Box No.4624, Hauz Khas, New Delhi-110016) by the last date. However, candidates may send an advance copy along with the requisite fee of Rs.1,000/- (for Officers Cadres) and Rs.750 (for Teaching and Non-Teaching posts) for General/OBC candidates (Non-

Refundable) so as to reach the above-mentioned address before the last date. The advance applications will be considered provisionally subject to the condition that the applications sent through proper channel are invariably received by the last date. v. All candidates, whether already in Government Service, or in Government owned industrial undertaking or other similar organizations or in private employment should also send their applications by ordinary post to the address given above. If any candidate forwards his application through his employer and it reaches the KVS late, the application, even if submitted to the employer before the closing date, will not be considered. vii. Persons already in Government service, whether in a permanent or temporary capacity or as work charged employees other than casual or daily rated employees or those serving under the Public Enterprises are, however, required to submit an undertaking that they have informed their Head of Office/Department in writing that they have applied for the examination. viii.Candidates should note that in case a communication is received from their employer by the KVS withholding permission to the candidates applying for/appearing at the examination, their applications will be liable to be rejected/candidature will be liable to be cancelled. NOTE 1 While filling in his application form, the candidate should carefully decide about his/her choice for the centre and optional subject for the Examination. More than one application from a candidate giving different centers and/ or optional subjects will not be accepted in any case. Even if a candidate sends more than one completed application the KVS will accept only one application at their discretion and decision of the KVS in the matter shall be final. If any candidate appears at a centre/optional subject other than the one indicated by the KVS in his/her Admit Card, the papers of such a candidate will not be evaluated and his/her candidature will be liable for cancellation. Since these application forms are to be processed in a computerized system, due care should be taken by the candidates to fill up their application form correctly. No column of the Application should be left blank. Incomplete or defective application shall be summarily rejected. No representation or correspondence regarding such rejection shall be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates are required to submit along with their applications the certificates in support of their claims regarding Age, Educational Qualifications, Category to which they belong, i.e., Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, OBC and Physically disabled etc. The candidates applying for the post should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of examination for which they are admitted by the KVS in the written Examination and Interview Test will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Influencing the examiners, or (vii) using unfair means during the examination, or (viii) writing obscene matter or drawing obscene sketches in the scripts, or (ix) misbehaving in the examination hall including tearing of the scripts, provoking fellow examiners to boycott examination, creating a disorderly scene and the like, or (x) harassing or doing bodily harm to the staff employed by the KVS for the conduct of their examinations, or (xi) being in possession of or using any mobile phone, paper or any electronic equipment or device or any other equipment capable of being used as a communication device during the examination; or (xii) violating any of the instructions issued to candidates along with their Admit Cards permitting them to take the examination; or (xiii) attempting to commit or as the case may be abetting the KVS of all or any of the acts specified in the foregoing clauses; may in addition to rendering himself liable to criminal prosecution, be liable (a). to be disqualified by the KVS from the examination for which he/she is a candidate and/or to be debarred either permanently or for a specified period by the KVS from any examination or selection held by them; and ( c). if he/she is already in service under Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertaking, Centrally financed autonomous organization or any other Govt. body disciplinary action under the appropriate rules may be recommended by the KVS. Provided that no penalty under this rule shall be imposed except after (b).

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF APPLICATIONS On receipt of an application from a candidate, the Acknowledgement Card submitted by the candidate along with the application form will be dispatched to him/her by the KVS duly stamped in token of receipt of his/her Application. If a candidate does not receive the Acknowledgement Card within 30 days, he/she should at once contact the KVS by quoting his/her Application for the post applied for, name & year of examination. Physically Challenged persons are also exempted from payment of fee subject to the submission of photocopy of the prescribed Medical Certificate issued by a Govt. Every candidate for this examination will be informed at the earliest possible date of the result of his/her application. Admit Cards, indicating the Roll Nos. will be issued to the candidates who are admitted to the examination. The Admit Card will bear the photograph of the candidate. If a candidate does not receive his/her Admit Card or any other communication regarding his/her candidature for the examination three weeks before the commencement of the examination, he/she should at once contact the KVS. On receipt of such a communication, Admit Card or a duplicate copy thereto will be issued to the admitted candidate. Information in this regard can also be obtained from the concerned Regional Office of KVS one day before the date of examination. b. No candidate will ordinarily be allowed to take the examination unless he/she holds an Admit Card for the examination. On the receipt of Admit Card, check it carefully and bring discrepancies/errors, if any, to the notice of KVS immediately. 6.2 The candidates should note that their admission to the examination will be purely provisional based on the information given by them in the application form. This will be subject to verification of all the eligibility conditions by the KVS.

The mere fact that a certificate of admission to the Examination has been issued to a candidate, will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the KVS. Candidates may note that the KVS takes up the verification of eligibility conditions of a candidate, with reference to original documents, only after the candidate has qualified for interview. Unless the candidature is formally confirmed by the KVS, it continues to be provisional. 6.4 The decision of the KVS as to the eligibility or otherwise of a candidate for admission to the Examination shall be final. 6.5 Candidates should note that the name in the Admit Card in some cases may be abbreviated due to technical reasons. 6.6 In the event of a candidate receiving more than one Admit Card from the KVS, he/she should use only one of these Admit Cards for appearing at the examination and return the other(s) to the KVS Office. 6.7 Any change in address should be communicated to the KVS at the earliest. (iii) The mode of selection shall include a written test/skill test/interview. A (a). For the post of Principal there will be two papers; first paper (objective type) General Awareness (40), Child Psychology (35), Education Methodology (35), Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Data Sufficiency (40) and paper two: Bilingual competence(objective) (50), Written communication skill (subjective) (50),Subjective/Descriptive (100). (b). The written examination will be objective type for other NonTeaching Posts. Paper-I (General Paper) will be containing 100 objective type questions with four multiple choice answers in the subject like General English (20), General Hindi (20), General Knowledge (20), Quantitative Aptitude (20) and Reasoning (20). The duration of the paper will be 2 hours. For the post of Assistant the objective type examination will be followed by a descriptive examination of 3 hours duration, i.e., paper-II containing in English and Hindi languages to test the subject competency of candidates. For the post of UDC, LDC, the candidates qualifying in the objective type examination will be required to appear for a practical test, i.e., Paper-II/II/III/IV and II, III respectively consisting computer operation test, typing test the date and time will be intimated separately to the short listed candidates. B.i) For Teaching and Misc. teaching post the 1st paper which is meant for screening of candidates shall have two parts. The first part will consist of objective type questions covering areas viz., General Knowledge, English Language Skill, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Current Affairs, Education, General Science and Indian Constitution etc. This will carry 50% marks. The Second part will consist of objective type questions on the subject offered by the candidates for selection. This will be also 50% marks. The 2nd paper meant for evaluation of language competence will be of qualifying in nature. However, the candidate will be expected to obtain 20% marks in English & Hindi separately as well as minimum 33% in this paper as a whole in order to qualify the test. The 3rd paper shall be subject paper containing long and short answer questions pertaining to subject/post for which a candidate has applied. The questions may be recall type questions to test the conceptual understanding of the topics. A few questions on drawing interpretations from given raw data and some situational questions may also be asked to test the analytical ability and intelligence of the candidates. It is essential for all candidates to appear at all the examinations as per above details. In case a candidate is found absent in any of the tests his/her answer sheet will not be evaluated. (iv) The above scheme of examination will remain unchanged except change in the order of date (s) for PR, PGT, TGT, PRT, PET, Drg. Teacher, Lib., WET, MT, Assistant, UDC, LDC and SCD which may be changed depending upon number of candidates. While efforts will be made to conduct the Examination in order of dates mentioned above for each category, there is a possibility that the order of dates for conduct of examination for PR, PGT, TGT, PRT, PET, Drg. Teacher, Lib., WET, MT, Assistant, UDC, LDC and SCD may change due to administrative reasons. The exact date of holding the examination for these posts will be indicated in the Admit - Card to be sent to eligible candidates. (v) For teaching posts the candidates performance in Paper I will be evaluated first. Based on the marks and merit ranking secured by a candidate, upto a cut off percentage as decided by KVS, the answer sheets of Paper II and Paper III will be evaluated further in respect of only those candidates who are short listed on the basis of Paper I. The paper II will be of qualifying in nature. However, the candidate will be expected to secure at least 20% marks in English & Hindi separately as well as minimum 33% in this paper as a whole in order to qualify the test. While processing the final result only those candidates will be included who have obtained a pre determined cut off percentage of marks in paper III. Only those candidates will be called for the interview who have secured merit ranking based on the performance (above cut off percentage) in Paper III. (vi) For the post of Assistant the candidates performance in paper-I will be evaluated first and based on the marks secured and merit ranking by a candidate, up to a cut off percentage as decided by KVS, the descriptive answer sheet of paper-II will be evaluated further in respect only those candidates who are short listed on the basis of performance in paper-I. (vii) For the post of UDC and LDC the merit will be prepared on the basis of Ist paper. The shorthand/Typing Test and Computer Proficiency Test will be qualifying in nature and the candidates will be expected to meet the minimum requirement prescribed for paper-II, III and IV as the case may be. The written examination shall be followed by a skill test which shall be qualifying in nature. (Minimum 40%). There will be no interview for the post of Assistant, UDC and LDC. (viii) The Sangathan will make preliminary scrutiny of all the applications to determine eligibility of candidate before the Written Tests. For this purpose a candidate has to attach attested copies of qualification certificates, mark-sheets, caste, sub-category etc. for determining eligibility. Reasons of Rejection The following are the broad parameters of rejection of application of a candidate: (i) Non-receipt of fee (in case of General/OBC candidates) with application in the manner desired. (i) Non-receipt of any of the documentary proof in the form of attested photocopies of qualification, mark-sheets, other certificate (s) etc. (ii) Non-receipt of caste certificate/ sub-category certificate, wherever applicable. In no circumstances, they will be allowed the help of scribe to write the answers for them. However, blind candidates will be allowed to write the examination with the help of a scribe. NOTE 1 The eligibility conditions of a scribe, his/her conduct inside the examination hall and the manner in which and extent to which he/she can help the blind candidate in writing the Examination shall be governed by the instructions issued by the KVS in this regard. Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of words in all subjects of the examination. In the question papers, wherever required, Standard International Units will be used. Candidates should use only international form of Indian numerals (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4,5,6 etc.) while answering questions. Candidates will be allowed the use of Scientific (Non-Programmable type) calculators. Programmable type calculators will however not be allowed and the use of such calculators shall tantamount to resorting to unfair means by the candidates. Loaning or interchanging of calculators in the Examination Hall is not permitted. It is also important to note that candidates are not permitted to use calculators for answering objective type papers (Test Booklets). They should not therefore bring the same inside the Examination Hall. Interview Test The candidate will be interviewed by a Board who will have before them a record of his career. He will be asked questions on matters of general interest. Questions on the subject pertaining to the post applied for may also be asked. The object of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in teaching profession by a Board of competent and unbiased observers. The test is intended to judge the mental caliber and communication skill of a candidate. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, and balance of judgment, variety and depth of interest, leadership, intellectual and moral integrity. The technique of the interview is not that of a strict cross-examination but of a natural, through directed and purposive conversation which is intended to reveal the mental qualities of the candidate. The interview test is not intended to be a test either of the specialized or general knowledge of the candidates which has been already tested through their written papers. Candidates are expected to have taken an intelligent interest not only in their special subjects of academic study but also in the events which are happening around them both within and outside their own state or country as well as in modern currents of thought and in new discoveries which should arouse the curiosity of well educated youth/informed citizen. The final merit will be based on the combined performance in the written test, skill test and interview. For Principal and Misc. teaching posts the weightage shall be 80:20 respectively. If any variation is found, please inform Regional Office of KVS located in the city of the centre allocated for examination one day before the scheduled date of examination so that remedial action is taken. 16.11 A candidate who does not receive Admit-card for the examination may get in touch with the Assistant Commissioner, Regional Office of the KVS at the city of examination (list of KVS Regional Offices is available at the website of KVS) alongwith proof of their having applied for the post one day before the scheduled date of exam, between 10 AM to 3 PM alongwith 2 passport size photographs for issuance of provisional admit card. In respect of those candidates whose applications are not received by Sangathan due to postal delay or otherwise, no action will be taken and no fresh request will be entertained. 16.12 Important information relating to conduct of KVS Examination for recruitment of Officers cadre, non-teaching and miscellaneous teaching posts will be available at this website .
