The GNS Value Proposition

Control your digital world.
If you don't, someone else will. That idea sounds scary, even alarmist, but with always on connectivity, an organization's network and the data it accesses are valuable assets that must be managed and protected. Without control of your network and your data, these precious resources are vulnerable to serious abuse. How much has your organization invested in its network resources? You keep adding more bandwidth, but it never seems to be enough. You're creating more data every day, but data is hard to track and even harder to organize so that it's accessible to the right people in a form that's useful. Are your IT assets being utilized effectively and efficiently? There always seems to be talk of new servers or scalable storage - not to mention the software and system upgrades that vendors keep pushing your way. Add mobility and the cloud to the network complexity your organization is already trying to manage, and it can seem overwhelming. That brings up the idea of ROL. Management always seems to be talking about ROI Return on Investment - but what about ROL, Return on Life? When your network is slow, your e-mail is down and you can't find the data you need, you're stressed and frustrated. Life is miserable. GNS can help you control your digital world, improving ROI and ROL. We are interested to work with you and for you, to ensure that your information and communications technologies bring maximum return. Our team of young engineers is up to date on the latest trends in ICT - virtualization, SaaS, Web 2.0, single sign-on the list is endless, but we are constantly training our people to stay current with best practices. Plus, as a Saudi-owned company, GNS is here locally in Riyadh and Al Khobar to support you 24x7xForever.

Cloudy Connections Ahead

Every IT vendor is talking about The Cloud. Private clouds, public clouds, hybrid clouds - to be quite honest, it's just a lot of vendor jargon. If your organization pays a fee to access a service that's delivered in real time over the Internet then you've already had a taste of what the cloud can offer. Cloud computing can provide outstanding value, enabling your organization to scale and enhance IT capabilities without investing in new infrastructure, training new personnel or licensing new software. There are downsides though, and understanding them can help you make the best choice to ensure that when you turn to the cloud, you keep your organization from being struck by lightning! ISO standards for cloud computing are in the pipeline, but there are no certifications yet. That means you must investigate both the quality of your cloud provider, and whether you can reliably access the desired cloud services. If your data is being held on virtual servers, the hardware behind such a service is located in a data center somewhere. The regulatory environment for cloud services varies by location and that determines how your data is handled and who has access to it. To control your digital world you must be able to use cloud services and solutions in ways that effectively support the objectives of your core operations, without compromising on data security. GNS is there to support your decision to take your organization's ICT into the cloud. We were one of the first companies in Saudi Arabia to offer hosting services an early cloud endeavor. To hosting, we added network and data security, website and portal development, and Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery. Now we're moving into network virtualization and private cloud creation. If you're planning a journey to the cloud, invite GNS to join you for expert advice and local support.

Corporate Data Goes Mobile

First came desktops, later joined by laptops. Now there are netbooks, tablets, PDAs and smartphones. Most mobile devices are loaded with powerful computing power, allowing them to run multiple applications and connect to the Internet with ease. Let's not forget mobile storage, including SD cards, flash drives and external hard drives. Mobile storage is proliferating and the amount of data it can hold is increasing. Employees want to access corporate networks with personal devices. Senior management demands anytime, everywhere instant connectivity. Controlling your digital world is no longer just about hardening your network. Now you must be concerned about your data going mobile and your network being compromised in new ways. Misplaced USB drives, stolen smartphones, laptops connected inappropriately the opportunities for data theft are increasing. Employees text while driving company vehicles. They let their children use company provided laptops. Dropping corporate issued handsets down the toilet is a common occurrence. Somehow an organization must cope with the new reality of mobile IT. GNS is there for you with mobility solutions that enable and yet manage mobile devices, the data they access and the data they create. We can advise you on the benefits and threats of going mobile and help you control those risks, so that your organization can take advantage of mobile IT with safety a priority.

Security Beyond the Box

Lots of companies will sell you network security in a box. You'll buy box after box, hoping to find the magic security solution. GNS won't play around. Effective prepackaged network security solutions don't exist. Standards-based network security and data management depend on people, processes and technology. Gateways and firewalls are just the start of network security. These days it's essential to create finegrained security domain isolation; to control who and what connects where and when. Use access control lists, routers, firewalls, proxies and IPSec to keep the criminals away from your data and network resources. GNS has the expertise to help you secure your organization from emerging threats. We're Websense and McAfee partners but we know that real network security and data management relies on GNS adding value to our partner's solutions. We can help you understand network attacks, data security risks and Web-service protocols and show you how controlling your organization's people and processes can enhance any technology investment. Once your organization has a grip on network security, it's time to consider GRC - governance, risk management and compliance. In the past there was a silo approach to each of these but since they are interdependent, tackling GRC in tandem can be cost effective. GRC is converging with ITIL to enable organizations to be governed intelligently, meet customer and business requirements, and deliver a high level of service while minimizing risks and maximizing efficiencies and effectiveness. A combination of newly developed tools, along with processes and frameworks, can move your organization to an all encompassing GRC strategy. Let GNS show you how.
