MASTER OF SCIENCE IN OFFSHORE TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING IN THE APPLICATION

Note: The application will not be considered unless all sections have been filled in, and true copies of all required documents have been enclosed or sent directly by the issuing institution. True copies: All enclosures must be certified as true copies of the originals on every page. An official stamp with date and signature is required. In general, UiS accepts attestation by Norwegian Embassy, the police, a notary public in your home country and by any Norwegian (state or municipal) public administration agency. Documents, which are not originally in Norwegian, Danish, Swedish or English, must be accompanied by an authorised translation of the original. Required documentation (please place the documents in the following order): 1. Officially true copies of all your educational certificates including: Diploma/certificate/transcript (1 of those documents) from Higher Secondary School Official transcript of records and diploma from your university education should be sent in a sealed envelope (Student Copies are not accepted) TOEFL or IELTS test results or other required documentation confirming knowledge of English (if applicable for your country of origin) 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Letters of recommendation and letters from employers confirming work experience (if required and relevant) Financial support (only non-EU students): bank guarantee, names of sponsors, amount per year, confirmation of scholarship, etc. Details concerning money transfer will be provided in the final Letter of Admission. True colour copy of the pages of your passport showing your picture, your full name, your date of birth and your nationality. Remember that your passport should be min. 1 year valid. Updated CV/Resum Letter of Intention/Statement of Purpose (approx. 1 page) Documentation of change of name if relevant (e.g. marriage certificate) Applicants with Pakistani educational background are required to include HEC stamp on their documents.

Please note that applicants are asked to submit copies, not originals. Students who are admitted to the University of Stavanger should, however, bring with them all original documents to Stavanger. The University of Stavanger reserves the right to require students to present all original certificates and diplomas. Students failing to present all relevant original documents upon request may be denied admission. Any falsification discovered will be reported to the police and Norwegian Immigration Authorities (UDI). All documents will be destroyed after 6 months. a) State your name as it appears in your PASSPORT. For the sake of file keeping, it is essential that only one family name is given. If, however, you have two family names (e.g. maternal and paternal family name), please underline the one used most frequently or considered the more important. Use the name(s) consistently throughout all correspondence with the University of Stavanger. b) Please explain any gaps in your educational record/work experience. c) Check carefully on our web-page whether you need to deliver an English test/documentation of English knowledge. All the exemptions are also mentioned on-line, at the end of Admission Requirements to the specific programme. If you have to deliver a test result (TOEFL or IELTS) remember about the deadline as the result has to be delivered directly to the University of Stavanger within 1. March 2012. Applicants from countries which are members of the EU/EEA and/or the Council of Europe/UNESCO-Cepes, and who studied English as their first foreign language over a period of minimum 7 years at compulsory/upper secondary school, are exempted from the English language test. Required level: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): min. score 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 80 (Internet-based) Please refer to the institution code 8467 when contacting a TOEFL centre. English Language Testing Service (IELTS) academic test: min. score 6.0.

FINANCING YOUR STUDIES

Education in Norwegian public universities is normally tuition free. However, students must pay a registration fee of approx. NOK 700,- each semester. International students applying for a resident permit (student visa) must document to the Norwegian Immigration Authorities (UDI) that they possess the necessary funds for their stay in Norway, either by private funding or by scholarships. Applicants must document that they have NOK 91.000,- per year to cover their living expenses in Norway. Since only a very limited number of scholarships are available, applicants should be prepared to apply as self-financing students. Self-financing students are required to transfer the deposit of NOK 91.000,- within the end of May 2012 at the Student Deposit Bank Account in Stavanger. The bank details and more information concerning money transfer will be sent to students admitted in the Letter of Admission in early May 2012. Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering A limited amount of scholarships is available: I want to apply for a scholarship from the Quota Programme. NOTE: Only applicants from the University of Stavanger partner institutions in developing countries are eligible for this option. Letter of Admission Students who are admitted to the University of Stavanger will receive a Letter of Admission in early May 2012. In this letter the student is asked to confirm acceptance of the place of study he/she has been offered at the university. The Declaration of Acceptance must be returned to International Admissions within the date stated in the Letter of Admission. Failure to confirm acceptance of a place will result in the place being offered to another applicant.
