N Duct route available?

11

E-side Fibre Loop Planning Guide

Definition: Loop is defined as diversity route or single route with different duct. In meeting diversity requirement there are two methods proposed: 1. If duct route available, provide loop for all Network Elements 2. If duct route is not available, to provide diversity through the following but not limited to:
a) Additional civil works (overhead or underground) b) Other network /Service Provider Criteria for diversity: a) Any number of Enterprise and Government customer and/or b) 10 or more SMI/SME Note: The loop is to cater for these customers only
12

Loop Criteria
Maximum cable loss OLT to last DP up to 25dB (FTTH Network) Maximum cable capacity 192 core per cable Tap-out Joint (T-Joint) via take out required core only Reserve cable slag/Coil at T-Joint

13

CALCULATING FIBRE COUNT IN THE LOOP

Total Fibre count in the loop = Total core to FDC + Total Core to MSAN RT + Total Core to ETTH equipment + Core for FOMS in the loop (~ 1core)

Example for out side plant network with the following: 1. One FDC consist 8 splitter (1:8) and to serve for 512 homepassed with 1:8 splitter in DP. 2. One MSAN system with 128 homepassed (installed with 8 card of 16 port per card) 3. One ETTH system with 8 ports (1 ETTH box). 4. One fibre core in the loop (as in this example core # 20) is reserved for FOMS monitoring. The objective of this core is to monitor the fibre cut in between the loop. As we understand no dedicated fibre monitoring for the MSAN and ETTH system. 5. In this example effective fibre core required is 20 cores. The nearest fibre count available to form the fibre in loop for this kind configuration is sufficient with 24 14 cores.

This configuration will required more PON card in the OLT. There are other technology solutions for the homepassed within this range via MSAN with PON card. The best choice of technology should be adopted depending on the site condition and Total Cost of Ownership. Generally MSAN with PON is planning for pocket subscribers. Every FDC is equipped up to 8 unit of 1st layer splitter. For 1:8 of 1st layer splitter, single FDC can serve up to 512 homepassed. For 1:4 of 1st layer splitter and 1:8 in second layer splitter, single FDC can serve up 512 18 homepassed.

DP Design for FTTH Network

All DP shall be planned based on the following: Pole mounted: Drop fibre will be installed upon service request. Wall mounted: Drop fibre will be installed upon service request. For the premise serve via underground lead-in duct the DP must be installed with:
Hand-hole DP (fixing Underground DP inside Hand-hole). Surface DP with normal DP (for location where vehicle pass through)

Underground DP to be pre-wired with Drop fibre and terminated to FTB in customer premise. Patching will be done at DP upon service request. To confirm later

Note: FTB capacity has single/double termination for SDU and multiple termination for MDU
