So when you have finished, then stand; and to your Lord turn. < < < < < < < < Tafsir as-Sa'dee Translation provided by: Abu Sulaymaan Muhammad Bin Baker www.abusuliyman.multiply.com http://maktabatulirshad.webs.com Page 2
Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman Bin Nasir as-Sa'dee, May Allah have mercy upon him, said about the previous surah, Allah saysbeing gracious to His messenger,
{ _ _ , _ , z "Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad ())?" Meaning, we have made easy for your chest (O Muhammad ) the legislation and the propagation (i.e. call) to the religion of Allah and being distinguished with high moral standards, as well as having an interest and strong concern for the hereafter, and a facilitation (made for him) to perform good deeds. Thus his chest () was not restricted, oppressed and it (his chest) hardly had to be called to the good, nor would you hardly find it rejecting good. { _ , z "And removed from you your burden," Meaning, your sins... { z "Which weighed down," Meaning, overburden upon

{ z "Your back." Just as Allah says, { ON MLKJIHG z "That Allh may forgive you your sins of the past and the future," [Al-Fath 48:2] { , , z "And raised high your fame?" Meaning, we raised your worth (i.e. value), and we have made for you an excellent and high commendation which no individual has reached from among the creation. Therefore, one does not mention Allah except that he mentions with (Allah) His messenger. Just like when entering into the religion of Islam, in calling the Adhaan, the Iqaamah, and the Friday sermons and forth from the matters in which Allah has risen, with that, the mentioning of His messenger Muhammad. Moreover, deserving to him (i.e. Muhammad) within the hearts of his Ummah is love, loftiness, exaltation, that which does not exist to anyone else other than him (i.e. person) after Allah.

So Allah has rewarded him from his Ummah a higher merit than what Allah has rewarded any (other) prophet from his Ummah. The statement of Allah, { _ __ _ z "So verily, with the hardship, there is relief. Verily, with the hardship, there is relief." It is a tremendous form of glad news, that every time someone finds hardship and difficulty then indeed ease will go hand in hand with it and will accompany itto the point if hardship was to enter the den (i.e. home) of a lizard then indeed ease would enter upon it and cause the hardship to leave. Just as what Allah says, { ~} z "Allh will grant after hardship, ease." [At-Talaaq 65:7] Moreover, similarly to what the Prophet said:
,:
.|
_ .
.| ,
| . |
.| . ,
| , "Indeed relief is accompanied by Agony, and verily with the hardship there is ease." And the meaning of
Al-'Usra (i.e. the hardship) in the two verses indicates that
it is one hardship; and tan'keer (indefinite noun) of the word |
yus'ra (i.e. an ease )
indicates its reoccurrence (i.e. repeating). Thus never will one hardship overtake two eases.

And within its meaning of Alif and Laam signifies to it being immersed and general indicating every and all types of hardshipeven if difficulty reaches to (the level) of what it reachesthen indeed in its ending the ease will be attached to it. Afterwards Allah commands His messenger firstly and the believers secondly (i.e. following) in showing gratitude to Him (Allah) and establishing dutifully by way Allah's blessing (given to them). Then Allah says, { _ , z "So when you have finished, then stand up." Meaning, when you are free from your work and does not remain in your heart that which would impede it then strive in your worship and supplication. { _ z "And to your Lord" Alone. { z "Turn." Meaning, having a greater desire for answering of your supplication and your worship being accepted. In addition, do not be like those who when they are available and become free they play and reject their Lord and His remembrance. So you would become ruined (i.e. if you were to does so).

It was stated, Indeed the meaning of the statement of Allah, "So when you are free from the prayer and you have finished, then exert (yourself) in making supplication. And to your Lord (alone) turn to in asking of your needs." The conclusion was deduced by way of this statement upon the legislation of the Du'a and Dhikr that is made after the five obligatory prayers (are performed) and Allah knows best to that.
