And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is a Fhishah, and an evil way.

[Surah 17:32]

Shaykh Abdur-Rahman Bin Nasir as-Sadee, May Allah have mercy upon him, said regarding this verse, The prohibition from going near it, Fhishah, is more serious than the prohibition from mere committing it; because that prohibition includes the forbiddance of all things that leads and invites to it. Therefore, indeed, whoever circles around the sanctuary then he is on the verge of falling into it especially this matter, which many people are more strongly invited and called to it. Moreover, Allah has described Zina and made it to be repugnant because it is a Fhishah; meaning it is a crime, which exceeds the boundaries of the legislation of Islam, the rational, as well as the natural inclination due to it comprising of the hazard towards the sanctity of the rights of Allah, the rights of the woman, the rights of her family, or her husband; the

corruption of the bed, the mixing and disorder of the lineage, and so forth from the things that bring about corruption. Allahs statement,


And an evil way... Meaning: a wicked path; a path of the one, who takes the risk of this enormous sin.
