Turbine Installation Instructions

NSK Phatelus (Mini,Torque) & Viper

Step 1: Preparation
Sterilize handpiece. Install the extra shipping bur supplied with your new turbine. Unscrew back cap. By applying pressure to the bur, remove the turbine from the handpiece head. Examine head for damage or dents. If you observe damage, do not install the new turbine and have the handpiece repaired. You will damage the new turbine if you continue.

Step 7: Turbine Installation
Holding the new turbine upright (bur upward), insert turbine into the handpiece head. Screw back cap 1/4 turn, then move shipping pin from side to side to help seat turbine. Continue this until the turbine is completely seated and the back cap is completely screwed down. Rotate shipping pin to ensure that the turbine moves freely. If not, unscrew back cap and repeat Step 7. Never force the back cap if resistance occurs.

Step 2: Remove O Rings

Remove the white shim fron the handpiece head and set aside. Replace o ring located in the back cap (if using existing back cap).

Step 8: Tighten Back Cap

Tighten back cap using the back cap wrench. Then rotate shipping pin to ensure the turbine still moves freely. If not repeat Step 7.

Step 3: Clean Handpiece

If possible, ultrasonic clean the handpiece shell with a handpiece friendly degreaser for 15 minutes, flush handpiece when done. If you do not use an ultrasonic cleaner, spray handpiece cleaner into the head of the handpiece. Then use a cotton swab to remove any debris left in the handpiece head. Using air, blow out the handpiece head to remove any cotton fibers.

Step 9: Lubricate Turbine

Place 3 drops of handpiece lubricant into the drive air tube at the back of the handpiece. Operate handpiece until it reaches normal operating speed. If it sounds slow or makes noise, re-install. Make sure you have replaced the o rings & spring.

Technical Support
You may telephone the end-user technical support center at (888) 996-5500.

Step 4: Test Turbine Bearings

Roll bearings of the new turbine to ensure that each spins freely.

Warranties
This product has a 6 month warranty against workmanship and defects. If you feel this product has failed within the warranty period, call (888) 996-5500.

Step 5: Attach Back Cap

Attach back cap onto the new turbine (if not already attached). Place a couple drops of oil onto the o ring inside the back cap. Gently insert the back bearing of the turbine into the back cap, gently rocking from side to side. Too much force could cut the o ring and/or damage the back bearing.

Maintenance Tips
Do not over temperature handpiece during sterilization. Lube after each sterilization cycle. Flush as often as possible. Do not operate handpiece until it has returned to room temperature after sterilization. Operate handpiece under 40 PSI, excessive air pressure can damage the turbines bearings. Avoid using long burs.

Step 6: Install Preparation

Make sure that a new o ring is seated onto the front bearing, resting against the flange. Place a spring on top of the front bearing (u shaped towards the bur). Place the white shim on top of the spring. NOTE: If the white shim is damaged or lost, place another spring on top of the spring already installed. The new turbine comes with two springs.

Push Button/Lever Spindles

Clean by spraying cleaner up the front of the spindle every few weeks to remove debris.
