The Rod Revealed This is a study of the Rod in scripture.

It discussed the use of the rod, the sh adow pictures of the rod in Old and Re-Newed Covenant and its continuity in spite of its change of form. Does the WORD of YHWH have the ability to judge AND save? Lets look at more shado w pictures of Moses account of the wanderings. See Exodus Ch. 4:2-4, Yah speaking to Moshe: Exo 4:2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. Exo 4:3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and i t became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. Exo 4:4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: Exo 4:5 That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Ab raham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee. Moses was given a rod in his hand. Messiah has the rod in His mouth. Isa 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branc h shall grow out of his roots: Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom a nd understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and o f the fear of the LORD; Isa 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the heari ng of his ears: Isa 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equit y for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mo uth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. Is. 11:4...He shall smite the earth with the rod of His mouththis is what the rod in Moses hand did. Watch what the rod does in Moses hand: Exo 7:9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it sha ll become a serpent. Exo 7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servan ts, and it became a serpent. Exo 7:12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aa ron s rod swallowed up their rods. Yahs Rod /serpent swallows up Pharaohs serpents. Now, see the judgment of the Egyptians brought through the ROD: Exo 7:15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river s brink against he come; and the rod which wa s turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

Exo 7:17 Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behol d, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in t he river, and they shall be turned to blood. Exo 7:19 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stret ch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their river s, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in ve ssels of wood, and in vessels of stone. Exo 7:20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up th e rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were tu rned to blood. Exo 8:5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause f rogs to come up upon the land of Egypt. Exo 8:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. Exo 8:17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and sm ote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. Exo 9:23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thu nder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. Exo 10:13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LOR D brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. You see the judgment of their sins by the RODhe smites the waters with the ROD an d they turn to blood. Then, frogs in the water, the dust of the earth turned to lice. Moses stretched the ROD toward heaven and Yah sends thunder, hail and lightening on the ground of Egypt. Moses stretches it toward the East and locu st come. The ROD of Yah brought judgment for sin. Then look at what else the ROD does: Exo 14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, an d divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. The ROD makes a way where there is no way. It is not only able to bring judgmen t but salvation. Nothing about the Rod changed from the its beginning to its end. It was all in the power that was given to it by Yah Himself. Covering from death demonstrated by the Rod: Exo 17:9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in min e hand. Exo 17:10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and M oses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. Exo 17:11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevail ed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. Exo 17:12 But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the o

ne side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the go ing down of the sun. Exo 17:13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the swo rd. Exo 17:14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, an d rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. Exo 17:15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah nissi: (Yahuah Nissi: Yahuah is my banner) Exo 17:16 For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. Moses tells Yoshua (Joshuah) that he is going to stand on the hill with the ROD of Yah in his hand. He then stretches it up to heaven and when Moses hands becom e too heavy the men of Yah helped him keep his arms stretched out until the batt le was won. There may be times when we need help to hold forth the ROD because i t is too much for us to bear alone. Again, you see salvation by the ROD of Yah. Remember, this is a shadow of the works of Messiah. He too is salvation and jud gment. He is all in all as the NT says He is. Now take a look. Moses uses the ROD of Yah but not as Yah instructed. Now, we see the man of Yah himself receive a harsh penalty for his transgression. Does nt the NT teach that the preachers and teachers will be even more accountable when th ey teach men to do wrongly? Is this the concept being taught to us here? We be st be very careful as we strive to teach a right example of how to handle the WORD /ROD of our Eloheim. Num 20:8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron t hy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give fort h his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou s halt give the congregation and their beasts drink. Num 20:9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. Num 20:11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twic e: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beas ts also. Num 20:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bri ng this congregation into the land which I have given them. Again, you have the shadow picture of the future. The picture of the Rod is a sha dow of good things to come as Paul says. You have the shadow of what the ROD of Yah is for: Judgment and redemption. This is one job, not two. See the pictur e?one WORD, one Messiah. One reveals sin, the other redeems us out of itbut they are ONE in Yahs hand. They are not separate AND just because their form was chan ged by Yah for a time appointed,(the ROD became a serpent and TORAH became a man ) it did not change the works to be done by the ROD. The works the ROD/Messiah do are full and complete in Yahs hand and one does not change the other, it only makes its abilities whole and in need of nothing outside of itself. Make sense? So Torah and Messiah can be ONE and do not do away with the need for the work the other does. They are only made fulfilled or whole by the unity with the other . They are one. Moving on, see these passages about the ROD of Yah: Psa 23:475 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. See the Strongs definition of the word ROD: H4294

matteh matta^h mat-teh , mat-taw From H5186; a branch (as extending); figuratively a tribe; also a rod, whether f or chastising (figuratively correction), ruling (a sceptre), throwing (a lance), or walking (a staff; figuratively a support of life, for example bread): - rod, staff, tribe.

As seen in the definition given above, the rod (as the shadow of Messiah) is bot h for Chastising or for support of life. It (HE) is all we need. It judges wro ng doing AND it redeems and saves from the judgment. It literally is all we nee d but it is not separate in its workit is one. He alone is all we need but we mus t understand Him in His full abilities and what He is created for. Psa 89:32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. This is the judgment that comes by the ROD of Yah because of sin or transgressio n against Yahs instructions to the way. Psa 110:2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Psa 125:3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteou s; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. The ROD shall not rest on the righteous UNLESS they put forth their hands to tr ansgress the WORD of Yah. Isa 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branc h shall grow out of his roots: Messiah is a ROD from His beginning. Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom a nd understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and o f the fear of the LORD; Isa 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the heari ng of his ears: Isa 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equit y for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mo uth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. Isa. 11:4 says: but in righteousness (Messiah) shall judge What is righteousness? Isnt Yah the only righteous? Messiahs righteousness is from His Father who He i s ONE with. Didnt Isaiah just say that He (Messiah) shall smite the earth with th e ROD of His mouth. Is that judgment like we just saw with Moses and the ROD in Egypt? Revelations 19:13-15 says: And HIS name is called THE WORD OF ELOHEIM. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine line n, white and clean (isnt that what the priests wear?). 15 And OUT OF HIS MOUTH GOETH A SHAPR SWORD, that with it HE should smite the nations: and HE shall rule them with a ROD of iron and HE treads the winepress (Hes putting them under pressure) of the fierce wrath of Almighty Yah. Out of Messiahs mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it HE will smite the nations

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two e dged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but a ll things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. So, out of HIS mouth goes THE WORD OF YAHbecause it alone is a discerner of the th oughts and intents of the hearts (of men), so, only the WORD of Yah can judge t he earth of its sin. Some will receive judgment and some will receive redemptio n but all will receive according to ONE WORD. Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Rev 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the la st. Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right t o the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Rev 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Messiah is the same word from the first and to the last. He is the beginning an d He is the end. And In the end He will judge evil and good. HE is ONEand His provision of the WAY to life is one or complete just as He has provided itfirst to last. In judgment and redemption, the whole or full plan from th e beginning. Men perverted its use not Yah. Yah uses earthly concepts to try an d reveal the heavenly things to us but we like Israel in the wilderness are just as blind and hard hearted and refuse to hear. His provision is in need of noth ing apart from itself. It is all there but it is not to be separated by man Mar 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. Mar 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; Mar 10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. Mar 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. As in the shadow of the union of man and woman, we see the plan of unity for ju dgment and redemption. They are not meant to be separate, they are created for each other. They balance each other and create a perfect situation where at an appointed time, Yah will be able to bring all things back to Himself once He has rid the world of sinhow does He do this? He accomplishes this by bringing to pa ss the promises/covenants that He has made with men. The two works of Messiah are created to be one and they are created for this pu rpose alonejudgment and redemption and any other effort to use what He was creat ed for is a misuse of purpose and will be judged by Yah. More shadow pictures of the Rod/Messiah showing both judgment and redemption: Isa 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod. The voice of Yah beats the wrong doers down not the righteous. Jer 10:16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all th ings; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name. Israels inheritance is of the ROD of Yah it is not like the wrong doers inheritanc e. The Yah of Hosts is His name. His name is a banner over us.We read that back when Moses Held the Rod up while Joshua fought and Yah won the battle for them . Eze 20:37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into

the bond of the covenant: This one is cool!! The righteous will Pass under or be passed over by the ROD of judgment and then be brought back into the bond of the covenant or you might say r edeemed back into the bond or safety of the covenant of Yah. Prophecy of a time that is coming. Eze 21:13 Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD. None will be spared judgment, not even the ROD Himself would have escaped judgme nt if He were guilty (but of coarse there was no sin in Him!). Moses himself wa s an example of that judgment that is on ALL men. Sin will be rightly judged wi thout exception. Mic 6:9 The LORD S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see t hy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it. This is my beloved son, hear ye Him. The WORD is judgment and salvation. He is all in all, nothing lacking in Him. He redeems, He judges. Isa 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sa ke, and will not remember thy sins. Isa 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of h osts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Yah alone has made the perfect way back to him. The whole plan for judgment and r edemption comes from Him alone and He does it ALL thru Messiah. The latter does not change or make void the former. It cant. He is ONE. He is not separate. He has made the path known to men by His prophets and Torah. And, when we fail that way given to us by the WORD, He made a way to blot out our sins by Messiahs bodily death because we are dust and we are born in sin. It is all done by Him with One goal in mindSalvation to those who hear His voice. Because He is ONE, and because He created all things to be ONE with Him, He alo ne is restoring ALL THINGS back into ONE with Him as it was IN THE BEGINNING.
